Because he's not smart enough to express himself properly.
That's why.

I just don't listen to him any more. Watching Sticks pretend to be a Chairman is like watching a guy die on stage during amateur night at a comedy club.

More embarrassment. You'd laugh if it wasn't so serious. Least no one really takes much notice.

This thread is so depressing.

Emotions swing between anger and hopelessness.

Where's the light at the end of the tunnel? Everyday with these monkeys in charge is another day lost; another day other clubs get further in front.

The solution is simple:

Find out why the other 12 directors keep voting Kernahan continuously as President .

What... you haven't been reading this thread? I think the reason for that is quite clear.

Easy....because he doesn't rock their boat yacht.

And by 'their' I mean Bruce Mathieson (who is represented on the board by his nephew Craig) and the Pratts (Jeannie and her son-in-law Ruffy Geminder) and to a lesser extent Zac Fried, Richard Newton and Marcus Clarke. Adrian Gleeson is Kernahan's lap dog and before you know it there are 7 board members who are voting in the same bloke. Fahour, Lee, Sayers and Trainor would probably approve of change (but mightn't admit that) and LoGiudice...well - I have no idea where his loyalties lie and I have no idea why LoGiudice is on the board.

Doc, by your own post I think the answer is clear. He doesn't rock the yacht.

OK thanks. So why do they need the boat/yacht not to be rocked?

My understanding (based purely on the insights provided on this thread/site), they are happy to provide the club money. In return for that, they require their positions on the board (ie influence), and no significant challenge to that influence. They are obviously happy with the status quo and/or have been brainwashed into being happy with it by Swann/Sticks, and et voila - in no time at all you have a stagnant, bloated board with no drive or passion for innovation, and no commitment to real success.

What is sticks complaining about now?
Swans didn't kill anyone.... Did they?

So my question is this.

The Pratts and the Mathiesons are successful business people. Very successful. Now it's all right to say they want the club as their personal fiefdom because they hand over the cash. But surely at some stage they actually want some success as part of handing over the cash?

What do they want control of? A middling club falling further behind? Or a club that gets it's act together both on and off the field?

I just don't understand why their passion seems to be leading them to accept mediocrity.

Surely they can see it grrofunger? I mean you don't make the cash they have by being idiots. They'd probably be friends with Frank Costa too... so should know what success looks like.

Are they honestly sitting around thinking it is about to fall into place? That the two premierships by 2015 is about to happen?

John, you're usually bang on the money with everything you say. You're admired and respected for that. But I'm sorry, I can't agree with your comment.

Sticks would get a standing ovation if he took his AFL club president schtick to an amateur comedy night!

It's when his schtick is in the context of the real world where it's no laughing matter.

I don't listen to Sticks any more - too embarrassing and damaging to our declining brand...

Even Micky was going on about how good the club was and how the people there are as good as any he has seen at Collingwood and Westcoast.
