I'm not at all fussed with the cliches. Sheesh, he's got a pair of deuces, he needs to bluff a bit.

Everything I've seen and heard stamps him in my book as a leader.

I love that he tries to always remain calm in the box. It makes no sense for a senior coach to be telling his players one thing, then behaving like a rabid fan in the box (read the Scott twins). I hate seeing it. Reminds me of the Godfather quote "don't ever let anyone outside the family know what you are thinking".

As mentioned above, I agree, he oozes that ability to level and reprimand players with just a look, or by simply not saying anything.

We've got many years to go, but I'm pretty damn happy that just like Cripps, he's ours.

I have seen him lose it in the box a number of times.
If there is one thing that doesn't work in any form of life is that if you are going to make statements and slogans you need to pretty quickly back them up with actions and substance.
You only have to look at our political scene to see this

The slogans are about simplifying the message. This is stage 1 in turning around our culture, improving the focus for the players etc..
I suspect there will be a couple of new slogans for next year.
There is probably a whole lot more behind each slogan. But the slogan helps maintain focus.

It helps when you have to make split second decisions in the heat of battle on the field not to have a million, nuanced thoughts and processes in your head.

Of course, this should ultimately translate into better on field performances - but that goes for everything we are doing from recruitment, to key off-field appointments, to player development, to facilities etc... all should ultimately show up on the scoreboard.

I hope we go after Sam Mitchell once he retires. Speaks very well and understands the game.

I reckon this is a big chance given our history.
Only trouble is, we'll given him a 5yr deal on $700k and plonk him on the wing...

For what is worth, and it may not be much, terry Wallace credits Leppa with turning rance into a good player. Thinks he would be a good backline coach.

I wasn't aware we were making changes to the coaching panel. Who's leaving ?

Good point however my nomination would be Hodge before Mitchell. As much as Hodge may be disliked by the way he goes about his "unsociable" football, he demands respect and is similar to having a coach on the ground.

Barass on BF reckons Bartel may become our skills coach if he retires.

That would certainly test his patient, reasonable demeanor!

EDIT: And again

I like it, more development staff the better and he certainly set high standards on the training track.

Great news...and he can still flog most of them in the time trial for years to come.
