So this year the focus was unity and developing a defensive structure and hearing Bolton on the news this morning the focus will be on ball movement next year.

So look for anyone with poor decision making/skills to be weeded out.

Great news from my perspective.
Players like Buckley, Boekhurst, Simpson, Touhy, Docherty, Thomas and Armfleid will come into their own. We have a pretty settled back six now and when we have run the footy we have threatened lots of wins and have scored more than many thought.

I imagine, based on that, that we will be looking for speed and endurance during the trade period and draft. Someone like Melbourne's Hunt or Dogs' Johannisen would be nice.

Not-my-fault-house, has left a dirty big brown stain on the living room carpet. It will take at least another year or so of scrubbing to get it out.

One of the things I am liking about Bolts is that he seems like the kind who with a look or a few carefully chosen words (rather than yelling or denigrating), can make it clear when you're not putting in the effort you should be.

Our best recruit last year, and if we're turning into a 'destination club' it's because of him.

Don't get me wrong, I like him a lot too and think he can be good.

But, metaphors and cheesey cliches can only last so long without winning. Fortunately he has period of grace to do this. I'm not so sure these types of words will be taken so well without a modicum of success.....soon.

I disagree - the bamboo metaphor will definitely apply to us. We are likely to stay around the same level for a few years. We are starting from ground zero - practically like GWS. We will clear out all the dead wood and have a very very young team in another two years. All takes time. Look at how well the dogs are doing with that young list.

Patience!

I disagree Muzza.

He's shown plenty already. Defensive pressure forward and back has improved... Ignore the fact that we don't have the cattle.

I was struggling to find or see what Madhouse was doing after TWO years...
Answer was, nothing

Yep, and that's why I said I think can be good.

However, at some point footy cliches and life metaphors have to stop and evidence through success has to occur.

Apart from the "one soldier out, one soldier in" cliche that Clarkson has trotted out (And now many other coaches), Clarkson rarely uses cliches and metaphors. I must admit I do have a problem with this approach....in life. I just find it dumbs things down.

Yes, I am patient. Just cut out the crap.....But that's the way I see things.

"The Bamboo effect" is a great metaphor once used by Mick Malthouse
