Feel vindicated in some way. While I would never say Stocker isn't a good footballer, I always felt he was grossly overrated by fans, just in the sense he never put together repeated terrific games in a row at senior level. In particular I always laughed when fans would cry he should play onball - I mean he doesn't have the tank !

Can he blossom elsewhere? For sure - he is young and has shown he can do a number of things well.

I wish him all the best.

My biggest issue with Stocker is that we wasted a fancy pants look how clever we are trade to get him.

x 2
And now we have nothing for it.
I don't blame the club and as much as I like his hardness, I blame him for not being fit enough to play at the level.

This trade and the SOS god complex many fans have is why everyone is losing their minds over the delisting.

He played 28 games and I can't think of any game where was a standout, and there were only flashes of moments - not good enough at this level.

I wouldn't say it's a SOS god complex, very few of us seem to be calling him an ace recruiter these days. I think as stated above, the extra lengths we went to get him are a big reason for people's disappointment, plus the idea that yet another first-rounder has turned out to be a dud when there seemed to be potential there. If we delist Dow at the end of '23 you can expect even bigger meltdowns.

At the risk of setting this thread off on another tangent, hindsight is 20/20 and I don't recall too many complaining or bagging SOS over the pick swap at the time.
In fact most were praising him. And no I definitely don't have a "SOS god complex".

That pick swap and subsequent selection cost us pick 4 in the next draft....Serong, Picket, Weightman.

Serong is the one SOS really wanted in the 2019 draft. Shot himself in the foot.

Lets hope one, if not both Kemp and Philp turn out to be great footballers.

No we didn’t, and that was obvious from the start.

He was lazy, fortunately he was lucky at times… in his first year, he had a trade in place with his Giants counterpart to acquire Tomlinson, which was scuttled at the very last moment by his ex-boss Gubby Allan.

That draft pick was the one used to select Charlie.

I'm not sure I would use the word lazy. I think drafting success comes from knowledge of draftees (obviously) as much as that is possible, also stable recruiting and coaching staff to ensure everyone is on the same page. we have not had that. And then there is lady luck. Even the Geelong recruiting gurus - which everyone points to as BIC, have had luck along the way including a lot of father/sons.

Yeah nah, lazy is closest to the pin.

A by-product of an enormous amount of hubris. Right down to the empire-building cash splash to try and get himself out of the shit.

To his credit, he played the game incredibly well for himself. If his sons were either of the extremes, such that there was no decision to be made, he’d still be in the job.

The on going conversation about SOS is mindless in my opinion.

The quality of our list is surely not our immediate challenge.

Agree.

These conversations should be limited to the List Management thread…

I agree as well.
I'm also fairly sure SOS doesn't read TC.
