Forgetting about the coaching part of the article, Hawthorn are going for another two GWS players. I bet they don't receive the same amount of scrutiny as we did when bringing in our players. They'll most likely be praised.

Hopefully that finally puts a line through Clarkson. (If he's the sort of bloke who would lie to all those people then we should forget about him anyway).

Given he seemed to be the only bloke anyone here was putting ahead of Teague it looks like the caretaker has the job*.

Suits me.

You're right. The only sort of bloke to do that would probably king hit someone too.

Media reports that Clarko has assured Jeff Kennett he isn't leaving, therefore it's 100% true??

Clarko and his manager are saying that he is committed to the Hawks, which is true until it isn't.

None of you have looked for a job while working somewhere?
What about if you are approached with a better offer?
"No sorry I can't entertain that offer that increases my pay by 50% because I told my boss last week that I was committed here"

Football is an industry, coaching is a job.
It's not a knight's code of honour to protect the realm.

On Teague from Gerard Healy

“If he isn’t appointed and they are 0-4 next year, look out Mark LoGiudice,”

was thinking this today, lets just run a scenario

teague wins two more games, we go into it the end of season with 7 w & 4 L under teague

some one else is appointed ... and we go 0-3 for the start of the season ... the media circus would be too much ...

With Clarko all but out, why would anyone want to actually apply for the job?? Teague is doing such a great job, and looks a natural at press conferences ...

my personally, if we where to appoint someone like Lyon or Scott ... id actually think it would be done for me. I have enjoyed the last two months of football more than i have for years!! Considering the Essendon* game i left and almost swore i would never go and watch carlton again unless a change was made, to what we experience now ... its been amazing under teague ... unless its something exceptional .. it should be teague's job.

I guess. But what if he is appointed and we’re 0-4?
Or what if he isn’t appointed and we’re 4-0?
Or is appointed and we’re 4-0?

I don’t think we can make a decision based on what might or might be our win-loss ratio after 4 rounds next year?

Personally, I’ve warmed to Teague. I would still wait to see what happens over the last four rounds. But in any event, I would imagine that we’d have the pick of available coaches given our list.

The speculation around Hinkley worries me. But hopefully, someone looks at Hinkley’s record with a pretty good list at Port (incl Gray, Wines, Dixon, Boak and more recently Rockliff, Polec, Ryder, Ebert, Hartlett, Motlop, Westhoff, Sam P-P not to mention the certain rising star winner Connor Rozee) and decides he’s just not that good.
They had a great trick a few years ago when he convinced h8s players and the rest of the comp that Port was the fittest team... until everyone worked out that they actually weren’t and he was just trying some amateur Jedi-mind trick.

Clarkson would be a disaster on par with Malthouse.

Not because they are bad coaches. They are great coaches.

But for the simple reason that a significant part of the club hate the person to their core.

A club divided is a club defeated.

When you have the most important person at the club where a significant part of the club hates them as something less than human feaces it is simply not going to work. You could have the best coach ever in the history of coaches, it will just not work.

Neil Balme will never work at the Carlton Football Club.

Agree - David Parkin tutored many.

Ross Lyon and Woosha have both worked at the club and tutored by David Parkin. Ratten is the other one and the last.

Ratten has the most astute football brain of the lot.

Ratten might have, but he had a chance and he did not gell with people at the club during his tenure.

I'm positive that Ratten will not be considered for the job for similar (but not as extreme) reasons as Clarkson.

Lyon, Clarkson, Scott, Hinkley. Please, not another experienced, high priced Messiah coach topping up their bank account at our expense.

My prediction is it will either be Teague and Roos or Voss and Roos....

I rest my case...
