Don't think we have a best 22.
The certainties are:

Backs: Jamison, Henderson, Laidler, Yarran

Mids: Judd, Murphy, Simpson, Scotland, Robinson, Carrazzo, Gibbs

Forwards: Waite, Betts, Walker, Garlett

Rucks: Kreuzer

On current form, Hampson and Armfield are clearly in.

Then you have defensive players Joseph, Russell, Duigan, Tuohy, Bower
And attacking players Thornton, Lucas
Mid players Curnow, Warnock, Ellard

battling it out for the last 4 spots.

Good post Stamos, not far off from what i think.....Only slight change is that i reckon as time goes by Tuohy is becoming more of a certainty.

Duigan has the problem of being a liability when the suited match-up isn't there, imo. The other small to medium sized defenders don't have that problem.

Good post Stamos. Agree with you all the way there. I liked the way Jordy moved on the weekend so am hoping he can return to his form of two seasons ago and grab one of those defensive spots.

I'd also agree.....however, what it highlights for me is a lack of another key forward in reserve and midfield depth (particularly developing)

I agree, though hopefully the players we already have developing will fill that hole sooner rather than later. The prospects are there (Mitchell, Bootsma, Casboult etc), it's all about how far they come I guess.

This is the reason I was so devastated Rd1 of the VFL... was really expecting/hoping Levi would become our Tom Hawkins this year.

I had taped the game and watched it that night... nearly put my fist through the TV when it (injury) happened... deleted the game and watched nothing further.

It would be great to have someone like Mitchell in the side and have Waite as a 'floating' tall. I'd still like another option for the future in the Waite mold (approximately) to complement any 'monster' tall we way develop.

As for others Stamos, I like the way you've laid this out.

I see Tuohy being given ever chance to push Yarran out from the back-line and push him amongst the mids.
Curnow has also been given every chance to establish himself amongst the mids. His running is a real plus for us, but Ratten would like him to clean his disposal up.
Hampson is ideal also if he can make the most of his opportunities as his time is now.

The rest will form part of the 19-30 grouping that is there to be rotated and mixed and matched as necessary. We're getting closer to being able to utilize such a measure.

Tad harsh on Duigan. Was a lock last year n is just struggling for form post injury. He will find form soon enough.
JR is the one whose proven he can play who isn't a lock right now but hopefully will be soon

Neither are clearly in our best side at the moment (like the 18 I listed).
Sure Duigan was last year, just as Russell was the year before.
2012 is a new year.
