Geez Brad, that first line was an attempt to do that.
Sorry. I understand the importance.

Blues want Kreuzer to provide ingredient X Article in yesterday's Age article by Murnane

Quote:
Carlton midfielder Kade Simpson said Kreuzer had the athleticism and endurance to make a big impact as a pinch-hitting ruck rover.

''It's definitely been thrown up,'' he said of the option yesterday. ''If Hampson and Robbie [Warnock] are both rucking well, I'm sure Kreuz will probably play a bit of ruck-rover.

''When the ball hits the ground, he's like another midfielder, he's so good in that second and third efforts. He's brilliant for us.''

''It's great to see him moving so freely. He's got his spring back in his legs. He's so versatile and he's going to be a big bonus for us this year,'' he said.

Like I said, it's no secret and never has been.
Kreuzer is an exceptional athlete and underestimated by some even within the Blue brethren.
He's hot property...and what I'm suggesting is if we win the ruck (with the best ruckman) the ball has a better chance to fall under Kreuzer's nose, or in his vicinity...and you know the rest....Swan and Pendlebury can't get around noe shift Kreuzer so we don't have to worry so much about them getting the ball. If we lose the ruck to Jolly or even Nic Nat well we don't have the same advantage, but neverthless Kreuzer will be waiting for the crumbs.

Not for the duration of the game, but we need to share the midfield load as well as provide head aches for the opposition.

Its great to watch this season unfold. We have a great midfield group...more mature and much stronger than 2011

I still think we may aswell just play him as the ruckman when he is onball. He can easily do both and we can then pick another running player in the 22 to give us the rotations to run games out better than our opposition.
I reckon if they trial the 3 rucks using k as an onballer it wont work. Pinch hitting as an onballer might pay off in the right situation but i still wouldnt play all three.

I am hoping that the formatting is OK but this is my opinion anyway.

Bower has no game awareness and Watson no opponent awareness IMHO.

That's a no on the formatting. Just give lists for each category and a 22 if you have one; not quite sure what you have going on there. :P

Eddie Armfield, Hampson Judd and Aaron "Rover" Murphy must be players we picked up last year...

Sorry, please reformat your best 22 if you want anyone to make any sense of it!

I think Aaron "Rover" Murphy was a player from the 40's.

B Laidler, Jamison, Russell
HB Duigan, Henderson, Yarran
C Simpson, Robinson, Scotland
FOLL *Warnock, Judd, Murphy
HF Garlett, Waite, Gibbs
F Betts, *Kruezer, Walker

INT McLean, Carrazzo, Lucas

SUB Thornton

*Kruezer and Warnock switch in ruck

This team boasts ten Top 10 draft picks

I have Thornton as the Sub because we saw a few times last year in-game injuries to talls ravaged us so I think you need a versatile tall on the Bench somewhere. Thornton, Henderson and Waite gives us good flexibility in KPP.

Sub needs to be a runner. You need to get tall coverage (ie Thornton) into your 21

I count 9 top 10 picks. Walker, Russell, Murphy, Gibbs, Judd, Yarran, McLean, Kreuzer, Henderson. Who's the tenth?

Didn't realise we had so many top10 picks in our best side. Don't know what to think about this.
Lets just hope we don't waste such talent - no pressure Ratts.

4 rookie picks too. Maybe more if the likes of Curmow, Joesph and Touhy are selected too.

This becomes more interesting as we build towards a top 4 and possible Premiership tilt.

To be a real chance we need players who are good decision makers and users of the ball and most of all are strong at the contest and don't hesitate. Flexibility and depth through the midfield will also be vital.

B: Joseph Jamison Laidler
HB: Yarran Henderson Duigan

C: Simpson Curnow Scotland
Foll: Kruezer Judd Murphy Carrazzo

HF: Garlett Thornton Walker
F: Betts Waite

Int: Hampson Gibbs Robinson Ellard Armfield Lucas

IMO Thornton is needed. He is that workhorse around CHF and can take a mark. Enable Waite and Walker more room and changes match ups. Can also go back if we have problems.

Run off the bench is vital. Carrazzo, Robinson are definites in rotation. The other three is a toss up. I like them all, depends on match ups. My gut feeling is that the tackling and tagging ability of Ellard may be needed in finals. The ability of Garlett, Walker, Betts to have minutes in middle will also help.

Scotland is the person to drop back and help the defence and mop up. Gibbs can also do this.

Gibbs is the one that can make a difference! Can throw opposition off. As part of midfield he is a great user but to see him push fwd as well he would catches defences out. One out in the goal square at times he could break games open. Taller than you think, smart, good hands and he holds his feet. Judd can do this as well.

Fwd structure can go tall or small when needed.

AJ seems to stand up when in seniors and is probably our best option on small fwds.

Armfield and Lucas are perfect subs and will make a difference when injected into game.

Nice line up Pshyco but i wouldnt go with that back six (not that it isnt fluid and would change 100 times during a game). It looks too slow. We dont seem to get scored in a way where opposition contested marking comes into play. We cop goals when our press or is broken and players stream forward. To counter this we need more pace in the back six to run back with them rather than height IMO.
Id swap Duigan out and replace him with a more nimble player. Did i ever mention that i think we are a better team with Gibbs in the backline?

I'm still a little curious to see how playing three rucks would go, Hammer as a forward, Krooz as whatever he is required to be and Warnock as a true ruckman. Hammer and Krooz have the versatility to play various roles between them.

I was curious about this scenario myself but the biggest issue with it is that a " runner " will have to make way for a 3rd ruck to come in. That part is understandably hard for many to digest.

IMO Thornton is more valuable to us than having an extra ruck. He must be in our best 22. As a fwd, he'd be our 3rd or 4th option ( behind Waite, Walker, Betts ).....perfect role for him. As a backman if req. , he'd be our 3rd or 4th defender ( behind Jamo, Hendo and maybe Bower ).....again a role that suits him down to the ground. He, in this role, has the potential to be our biggest X factor this year.

You have no idea how hard that was for me to write  as I've been one of his biggest knockers over the years but as a 3rd string fwd or def, there wouldnt be too many who could fill that role as he would/does !!

Don't think we have a best 22.
The certainties are:

Backs: Jamison, Henderson, Laidler, Yarran

Mids: Judd, Murphy, Simpson, Scotland, Robinson, Carrazzo, Gibbs

Forwards: Waite, Betts, Walker, Garlett

Rucks: Kreuzer

On current form, Hampson and Armfield are clearly in.

Then you have defensive players Joseph, Russell, Duigan, Tuohy, Bower
And attacking players Thornton, Lucas
Mid players Curnow, Warnock, Ellard

battling it out for the last 4 spots.

Also, in regards to Joseph,
I'm not sure if he is generally inside or out of the best 22, but against certain teams (eg Hawthorn) he is definitely in.

I think the 22 is getting a lot clearer, though not 100%

Still a couple sots here and there players are vying for

B Laidler, Jamison, Yarran
HB Duigan (though terribly out of form), Henderson, Gibbs
C Simpson, Judd, Scotland
R Kruezer, Carrazzo, Murphy
HF Garlett, Waite, Robinson
F Betts, Hampson, Walker

INT Curnow definitely

Throw a blanket over Touhy, Lucas, Thornton, Warnock, Bower, Russell and prob a few otehrs

Agree with this. Our small defender worries me - Yarran not really a defender, Joseph not really that classy. The Davey/Duigan matchup hurt us against Essendon* I thought. We needed Joseph in that game. We need a new Dean Rice....
