I just don't get that.
We have genuine half back replacements and he's our only dual sided midfielder. And one of the few who runs hard defensively. I'm keen to support the coaching group but that's just a dumb decision all round IMHO.

Thanks for the info deano.

I’m with you BV. Don’t see the logic.

Can only presume we are worried about their fleet of smalls (without knowing the whole team yet) and Walsh will go back to inside mid.

Crazy, just crazy.
Doc should be playing the Elijah role as well and no need to be fully midfield.
There doing my head in.

Not sure if that is a good thing or not.

If Sicily gets a mild zap then I reckon it's good.

Could this mean that Ollie moves to the wing and Lucas is omitted?
I like the look of Lucas however don't think he is ready yet.

God, I hope not.
Ollie has no offensive side forward of centre.

And sure as eggs he’ll be dragged back to the goal square by his opponent and our inept coaching group will be too stupid to counteract it.

I took this to be sarcastic…

As in, the kind of stupid thing we would do.

Ollie played a strong game at half back so I doubt it. I'd suggest it will be more around McGovern.

From Vossy’s presser, sounds like there won’t be wholesale changes.
He was talking about not overreacting after 1 game after a whole summer of practice. Rather, he seems more likely to double down. Was referencing our errors and lack of team connection.

He has a point although I’m sure he also went hard on effort behind closed doors - which feeds into the team connection thing. We did make heaps of errors (fumbles, errant handballs) and also did not work hard enough to chase, support, block esp in defensive transition.

I wonder if anyone team has been beaten by wooden spoon favourites then beaten the premiership favourites the following week

I guess you can only check based on eventual ladder positions?
West Coast already ranked below Richmond

Not exactly but how’s this?

In Round 7 1995, Sydney lost to Collingwood who had only had 1 win and 1 draw to that point, ahead of only Melbourne, Fitzroy and StK on the ladder.
In Round 8, they smashed us by 10 goals. And we subsequently won the grand final by 10 goals.

We can do this! Just need to play hard, play smart. Don’t get sucked out of position. Back up your teammates. Kick straight. Handball effectively (not behind a running player or to their feet)

Yeah , and we followed the Sydney loss to a repeat flogging at the hands of the Saints to the tune of 56 pts . Back to back floggings to a couple of cellar dwellers . Rumours were swirling at the time of a betting coupe" that funded our end of season trip . Didn't believe it myself but of course in those days we were filled to the brim with larrikin's and scallywags so anything was possible . The way we monstered the competition in the remaining home and away season would make you wonder I admit .

I'm hoping the senior players had a good hard look at themselves, and what they should have done to make us better.

I can't help it but can see how we win this.
Ive said that plenty and lost. But I barrack for Carlton, so that's excusable.

Love some of the ideas above. We have so much going for us.

I'm expecting rain in the evening, if not late afternoon.

Contested footy. Delicious.

How does Haynes survive that Richmond performance? One of the all time shit displays of fumbling, second guessing and panicking.

They will get it to the outside and run us off our feet. Be happy to win a quarter. Or half a quarter.

Has to be some late changes. No way that team could be expected to run out a game .

Keeping our opponents on their toes by doing the same thing every quarter, every game.

Voss sitting in the match committee at team selection time.

I have to give it to him, bold move.
Especially adding another tall in 95% forecasted heavy rain, 6-25mm with 15 to 20km winds.

Possibly Weitering-McGovern-Haynes-Silvagni against the Hawk talls of Chol and Gunston (could be sub)?

Their small forwards will have a picnic?
