So you don't think Martin was one of our better contributors?

That press conference made me feel a little ill.

Either he is just trying to keep things positive, or is in denial.

To say that the last quarter was our best football in a month (which ain’t saying much btw), and basically ignore the shite that was the first 3?

The problem wasn’t the last..

He was right - it was our best football for a month.
I don’t see that as a positive but rather an indictment on our last month.
All the commentators were highlighting our slow play out of Defense when we lost to them last time. And then we came out and started doing the same thing.
We have a really talented list. So getting the ball in fast even if we don’t have a free man still works better for us - that’s why we played better in the last quarter. When we slow it down too much - especially when everyone ahead of the ball is stationary - it gives the opposition a fighting chance.

I am deeply concerned about our games against the in form Hawks and also the Saints who will make our lives miserable.

I was a bit concerned about the Saints game too but they look absolutely terrible today

I think Boyd had his weakest game for the year last night, but we need him up and going.

Out Cottrell and Cerra. In Cowan and a runner - Carroll? Binns?

On a positive note I thought O Hollands and Kemp were much better tonight.

i should hope so. there was a clip from SM inside an AFL written story this week and had a clip of Kemp and a tall forward in super closeup running towards the camera in a marking contest. at one point the oppo player, i think it was. young port forward put a side on bump on Kemp as they were both charging side by side towards the ball carrier and the bump left Kemp spinning on the deck like a skittle.

to me it was emblematic of his issues as our CHB. he can’t compete with strong bodied forwards on a lead or standing under it unless he reads it in the air and they don’t. and frequents the ground too much for my liking.

dumb or coaching?

We started rushing players back who had missed a chunk of the season and we lost our run. Some were ok to bring back but Cerra and Cottrell were 2 too many. There's a difference in the side that smashed Geelong and now. Even Walsh missed his pre season and a chunk of the season. Was great for a while but now it's caught up. Went conservative at selection with half fit tried and true rather than playing fit players. Could well cost a season

walsh has said more than once that he didn’t really miss his preseason. that it was much overstated, he only missed the last few weeks and a few games at start of season.

I would prefer to play Charlie at CHF and Harry at FF. Moore is quite a few cm's taller than Charlie. Also we have had long periods when we did not get the ball inside fifty which means one of our best players is out of the game too much.

Luke Sayers the nation-betraying-prosecution-escapee has his PR team writing the script. keep it up beat for the fans. accentuate the positives and all that. every single player was on message, Walsh, Hewitt, all of them used the same lines.

as they all do every flowering week. funny thing is gaslighting us fans starts to wear thin when we feel like you know that we know that yo are doing it as a way of deflecting the coaching, systems and training deficiencies in the whole footy department collectively.

Not all that enthusiastic of how 'well' we play when the opposition drops their intensity late in games...

Oh look we didn't lose by much... yeah/nah...!

Yes that's factually true Tommi BUT...would that "one goal opportunity to win" have presented itself if scores were closer earlier on?

I don't know the answer but what I am suggesting is that possibly??? Collingwood took their foot off the pedal and possibly??? we played with dare and abandon bc there was nothing to lose (we were 5 goals down from memory)

i think pies ran out of legs more than anything. a mid rotation down with de goey out, a 6 day break etc

once pittonet started creating a contest in the centre bounce, cripps started winning it out and we were rolling.

hawks looked tired in the 4th as did freo. hopefully the hawks have played themselves into the ground with their last 2 months of footy.

The pies ran out of legs yet we were a player (mid) down for most of the second half?

How we let Naicos mouth off so much and walk off the ground standing is an indictment on this group. We don’t tackle with force, we don’t put our head over the ground ball and we get pushed of the ball with ease. Watch the game again and you’ll see the culprits. I don’t have to name them, if you’re honest within yourself. All in full vision tonight.

I think we get it. You don't like McGovern.

Disliking someone is the wrong choice of words. I want us to get better and with that I will criticise specific players letting the team down by not defending, making the same errors over and over again, not getting enough or doing enough, etc. This list is ready, and every player needs to do the simple things every week. Not expecting everyone to have extensive skills or similar talent, but standard footy practices are non-negotiable.

Just to add, I've had enough of losing to Collingwood. We never lost to these guys in big matches - this has now changed, and we have become their b@#$%es. Not good enough.

To be fair we’ve been playing like soft, fluffy little bunnies for a few weeks now.
Need to toughen up.
Harder at the contest and stronger when it comes to disposing of it rather than panic kicking or bombing it from 80m out to a pack 40m out…
Change the angles, find a shorter target and then kick it to 10-20m out.
Everything changes from there.

yeah, they ran out of legs thru the middle. they looked tired more than we looked good, yeah?

cerra off and kennedy on as sub, we didn't lose a midfield rotation.
