Given the contribution of the star players an excellent win
I’ve said it before
I’ll say it again
Recruiting teams need to cast their visionary net over all country and minor leagues particularly with The Devils coming into the comp and all the concessions their going to get
Cincotta would have gone unnoticed playing in the GFL unless he went to the reserves at Carlton
He is quick tough and wants it
Unlike many players who are hand picked at the draft every year

How does a guy like Nic Martin go unnoticed by nearly every club whilst playing for Subiaco
TDK and Martin were clearly the 2 best players last night

Boyd in the VFL as well
As for E Hollands
Excellent game
He lacks pace but is a smart footballer

With TDK if Carlton can bank some wins he will need a rest again sometime after the bye
The aim is to finish top 3
The Swans are almost a lock for top spot
You wouldn’t want to finish 4 th and have to travel to Steak and Kidney the first week of the finals

The fact that Cincotta got the opportunity to play at Carlton reserves shows that the net is cast far and wide.

Nick Martin wasn't 'unnoticed' as you say. Didn't get picked up in his draft year and was invited to train with the Eagles as a possible SSP. Was passed over at the time. Essendon** offered him a train on spot after his stint at Subi and grabbed him. It's why i'm confident he'll stay in Essendon** colours his whole career. Has no love for the Eagles after they basically said he wasn't good enough. Anyway ... how could you not notice his red nose and stupid haircut ... that shit couldn't go unnoticed if it tried!
Ratatouille looking mofo played well in the 3rd, but he's a shit kick. He gifted McGovern 50m and a goal when he missed him by 10m.

Kids are picked at 18
Too young
Some men “ grow up” in their early 20 s
So what is stopping AFL clubs spending some of their 7 + million soft cap to pay someone 10000 bucks plus give him a seasons ticket to watch a country league and report back to the club in late July
In regards to Nick Martin going unnoticed did he grow some footy intelligence in his early 20s all of a sudden or did it go
Unnoticed

Sometimes i does not matter how you play to win, it's more important HOW u win and WHO it is against!

Tonite, I'd suggest we played some solid footy. Got super challenged in the 3rd qtr, they did not take their chances, but maybe some of those where due to the consistent pressure applied by our defensive half. Not much has been said about our defense, but given the flood and massive discrepancy of forward 50 entries of theirs to ours, maybe some kudos should be acknowledged?

TDK wowsers, what a player he has become and will be. Forget the rest of his impact, and note the 11 clearances, that's INSANE from a ruck, end of story!

I personally loved the trade for E Hollands. Many reports suggested it was a "bad" or questionable trade deal, but on at least last nites performance and others leading up to it, we have a star people. That was a great game. Only way is up from him!

Just a massive win prior to our bye. It gives us a much-needed break, and opportunity for at least a couple of "first 22 players" like motlop and Cerra to come in. Moreso, it gives us a good prep time to beat the other Scott twin coach when we play the cats at the G after the bye....

BRING IT ON!

Here is my sober match analysis...

Nah, stuff that. Thank f**k we spanked their jabbed up little money makers.

Onwards and upwards, Blues!

Anything is possible. Don't stop now. This is getting funner.

Too much being made about their F50 numbers. We simply didn’t need repeat entries because every time we got it in we scored. They on the other hand have no marking targets so bomb it short of the square.

I hate them, I hope they fold

If you win the inside 50 count by heaps and still lose the game handily then it's not bad luck, there's something wrong with your system, list, coaching or all of the above.

Also, I'd be happy for the Scott brothers to never win another final.

Did anyone declare us moral victors over Geelong when we smashed them on I50's? I thought we were criticised for our defensive play mostly. Happy for * to remain shocked to be sitting there.

It's interesting to read the perspectives of people who watched at home vs. those at the game. The close-in camera angles, the deliberately 'tense' commentary, the reliance on stats to tell the story of the game... I think it skews the way people view the performance.
At the ground I felt like we were largely in control, and got the solid four-goal plus, lead-all-night sort of win that people have been calling out for.

I was at home BC and I saw it the way you saw it . We were basically in control for the entire match except for the Dons purple patch in the third quarter . And as far as the TV commentary goes , they just will say anything for attention irrelevant and inaccurate as it is .

This is one of our biggest issues with JSoS missing. Charlie left forward on his own is not going to work long term.
We need to try Kemp forward and see how it unfolds. Just need another option before finals.

I’m old enough to remember the arguments made last year when Harry was injured that we should trade him because we were better when Charlie was down there on his own…

At the ground it looked like we became very static in the 3rd q. We played very defensively and it looked to me like we were tired, and just wanted to get to the bye - that was when they kept getting their repeat inside 50's. Was rapt when we turned it on again in the last q and put the game away.

Saw a headline - Young Bombers taught a lesson by Blues

We fielded a side with an average age younger of 4 months and an average games experience of 93 compared to Essendons 116

Do people actually look these statistics up before writing articles

No. Junkies are always younger, braver and have been through more adversity than anyone in history.

Pros:

Efficient, professional performance.
Forward efficiency and accuracy.
TDK, Elijah, Hewett, Cincotta, Saad, Williams, Kemp.
Oli got off to his normal fast start.

Cons:

Outnumbered in forward 50s and tackles.
Umpiring was annoying.
Carroll's not getting much ball. Be nice when we can replace him in the team.

felt we where always in control ... even when they got their run on, felt like we had the answers.

positive for mine, is it felt like a professional win. did what we needed to do, without all guns firing and walked away with the win.

another positive, is the last 3 wins have all been 4+ goals etc.. another sign of growth IMO.

i think we are a better side this year, then last year.
