having watched the replay the thing i loved most was last quarter *all in* effort. Crippa was amazing but everybody seemed to be "all in" until siren sounded.

our club song was sung by players with a little extra gusto this week, i thought.

was pretty disappointed with Q4 against goldies. even though we kicked the first 3 or 4 we let gold coast get a few of their own. we lost percentage which dropped us a place on the ladder last week. if we’d kicked 3 more like we did this week instead of conceding 3 we’d have nearly jumped two positions higher on percentage. we seemed to drop off once the game was won.

% might make the difference bw making eight or not. or making top four or not. good teams punish oppo when they get a chance and develop more avenues to goal and the confidence of third tier players.

loved seeing Kemp and Gov and Cinc kicking truely when their moments to score came. having "layers" as Voss calls it becomes so important in finals.

i loved some of the intelligent tap-ons by running players who couldn’t take possession or didn’t want to take possession with two oncoming opponents.

other afl teams do that a lot more than us. we’re learning.

I wonder if this is a consequence of all the talk of the change in interpretation of HTB and our players were gunshy about getting caught?

If so, may it continue!

I feel we dominated the 2nd half and poor goalkicking in the 3rd quarter kept Port in the game.
Then again Port wasted plenty of opportunities in the 2nd quarter and better sides probably wouldn't have let us off the hook.
Looking forward to Cerra, Martin and Motlop returning to the side.
Some posters mentioning Cottrell coming back into the side but who does he replace? Certainly not Cincotta on current form.

Cottrell can also play wing rotations and has done under Teague. depends on where Ollie and Elijah are playing too. Ollie might tire again towards end of season. he was tired by this round last year and should have been rested weeks before they did it.

i guess it will come down to oppo matchups, though having said that Voss seems to be an old school no unforced changs type of coach.

our midfield mix on game day is certainly broadening nicely which is great from a tactical standpoint.

Why are opposition defenders allowed to grab, manhandle and impede Charlie and Harry 80% of the time without consequence yet when one of our defenders does the same we get penalised?

wondering same. i think it’s because generally they don’t and perhaps it sticks out like dogs balls to the umps when they do?

maybe just that Carlton are loathed by umps commuted to other clubs too. daughter in-law works at the MCG. saw a carlton supporter rip a seat and the concrete footing out of the ground during a game we lost this season. as a filth supporter she thinks that’s typical Carlton. (she’s not old enough to have witnesses the carnage on the streets of Melbourne the night of a Pies GF loss).

even our boss Cook thinks our supporters need to learn how to be more modest in victory and defeat.

one more small thing i loved. Charlie and Big H not contesting the ruck when a blues player was in the better marking position. happened every quarter, charlie ran behind Harry in the goal square at one point for the crumb that never came drawing his defender with him as H was running towards the ball straight on. in the past they’d have clashed. lots of other examples of H doing same. doesn’t get the recognition of his football intelligence often enough.

And how was Fantasia’s outside of the foot shot which was stopped but looked on target??

if it hadn’t been intercepted would have been goal of the round i reckon. deft touch. magic that can be practiced but can’t be trained.

it’s the first Fantasia-flashy thing i’ve seen him do since arriving.

there is a better three minutes of personal impact in a match this year than Patty Cripps’ opening to the final quarter of Thursday night’s game against Port Adelaide ...

nah, there won’t be. Wow. In actually less than three minutes of game time, Cripps kicked two goals, racked up a goal assist and pumped another ball inside 50 which resulted in a Blues goal. What a leader. What a player

What a leader and player indeed! We are blessed to have him :)

and he did in on Horne-Fraaaaance-is too!

Repeat...Alex Cincotta is first picked every week

Has so many strings to his bow just because of his mental application

Imagine him doing the job of Daicos (either at the centre bounce, at HB or HF)

Yeah agree, he has definitely gone past Cripps, Walsh, Weiters, Charlie, Harry

Absolutely!

We’re now 15-2 with Fogarty in the side since the start of last year.

The only losses he’s played in are GWS in Round 24 and Brisbane in the Preliminary Final.

Interesting that one coach gave Cripps 5 votes and the other gave him 2. Would love to know which was which

one of those coaches clearly doesn’t rate Crippa. i think we all know which one. how do you know it wasn’t 4-3?
