Drop fisher after he played his best game? Can't see it happening

There's logical reason to keep him in the 23.
I know that.
His last game was good despite a lack of physical presence as a mid (no tackles)

Lets say Walsh Kennedy Acres and Martin all return from injury next week.
I can see why Martin is selected to play reserves, despite every other time he's been available Vossy has selected him.

Who do you drop? LOB, Honey and ????

Carroll was 23rd man.
I know Honey was a like for like swap for Owies and Owies aint coming back, but someone has to be dropped from the seniors.

Ed is the only tagger we have. There's a good chance he will be needed to curb Laird whose in hot form.

Seriously, when the injury list drops from 10 to 5, its a hard task picking the 23 any week, but this week its Adelaide.

I'm not against retaining Fisher in the 23, but I can't see who else to drop from the 22. Can you?

Don't disagree with most of what you're saying Bondi but didn't Cripps have 40 and get the 3 votes in that game?

Yeah he did, and Walshy had a 40 possession game too, Kennedy Cerra Saady were alright, but Laird Shoenberg OBrien (Adel variety) did well in the centre clearances, and also around the ground ball ups with Dawson and I cant remember the other running player? smith?.

Disposals were similar between the 2 teams, but what really counted was the quality of the ball their outside players received from their inside mids. IMO it was better quality and the results show that.

Most pundits thought they beat us most of the game from the first bounce. They had 20 more inside 50's and won the game by 5 goals or 4 goals 5 bh to be exact. They had 9 more shots at goal.

We were in front at Qtr time but they had 2 more shots at goal and won every quarter after that.

We looked weak. Forwards got smashed. We lost a game we needed to win. We were the Finals contender, they were climbing off the bottom of the ladder.

Brownlow votes didnt help us. We failed to make the Finals. The cost was huge for us. This is why we owe them.

Remember Keays scoring 3 goals out the back running into open goals with his fist up high like a hero. Mde a fool of Saady and Vossy that day....imo

SOS and TDK just have to fill Harry's role.

If Harry survives then Honey out. Honey needs to lift but with the 3 Ins Fisher is not required.

I think Sos can bring more options than Fisher or Honey for mine.

My point is that Fisher's selection is not a given, despite lifting last game.

This is what can happen at Carlton when the injury list declines from 10 to 5, and it will get harder for some to keep their spots if Martin finds form, Boyd, March and Cottrell return in a month's time. Oh yeah, there's Owies too.

Its nothing against Fisher or Honey, but they are depth when most others are fit. Injury is their best friend, let alone consistency and bringing needed weapons to the table. A for LOB, he's badly outr of form, and we have brought in 2 new wingmen (Acres and Hollands) who have made the wings there's for now. That's life. Survival of the fittest.

I definitely remember Ben Keys and I hope Saad remembers too.
We did get smashed everywhere. They brought the intensity and we just hoped it'll eventually click.
Can't do that this week. Need to bring the intensity from the opening bounce.

So...a fend-off is DELIBERATE/INTENTIONAL.

A deliberate fend off has caused Cerra to fall to the ground and for his eye to swell up and give him discomfort for the whole game

Last time I checked, the eye is a part of the head

The MRO tell us the head is sacrosanct

Just sayin'...that the AFL are a bunch of incompetent and corrupt see you next tuesdays

I agree. If you take the logic of the AFL to its final conclusion then Zurhaar has to be reported.
It was intentional, high impact and also caused an injury to his eye. Once you get an injury to the eye it is extremely dangerous. For that alone it should be a minimum of 2 weeks suspension for Zurhaar.

This HAS to be reported to keep in line with other head high contact (or shoulder/neck contact) from the weekend.

There are at least 50 other incidents from the weekend that also have to be reported. The neck and shoulder region is sacrosanct.

Kennedy got concussed/broke his foot in that game last year.

Can the person who accidentally kneed him in the head (I think it was a teammate from memory)....can he get suspended retrospectively?

It makes about as much logic as Harry McKay being suspended for touching someone's shoulder and neck with about as much force as a lettuce leaf.

It wasn't a good day misnaut.

We need to turn the tables on them.

We've been too nice to them all these years. We gave them Kris Massie and Bond who helped them win a flag.

Now its our turn to hurt them on the scoreboard on their home turf

Can anyone name a previous example of a player getting suspended for a high fend off? A fend is a football action. No worse than a high tackle.
We might appeal Harry’s suspension and get it downgraded to low impact, but what he did is not a football action and you’ll always risk suspension when you do something stupid and make contact with the head.
Spare me the Michael Christian vendetta nonsense too.

A fend off is an action which can impact the head and cause injury. Period
And a tackle, high or not high can also cause injury if it becomes a sling tackle

The moral of the story...if you make a choice to tackle, fend off or bump and it impacts the head, it should be looked at

I would bet $100,000 that if a poll was conducted for non Carlton and non Richmond supporters asking if they believe Cotchin or Martin would've got the same outcome as McKay, for the same action, most would say they wouldn't...by a large margin

But hey, you just believe the AFL is clean, transparent, equal and objective...I have other views...whether you think they are nonsense doesn't impact how well I sleep at night

If Harry's out (which would be a joke)

B: Cowan Young McGovern
HB: Newman Weitering Saad Docherty

Foll: Pittonet Hewett Cerra Kennedy
C: Acres Cripps Hollands Walsh Curnow

HF: Durdin Silvagni Fisher
F: Curnow TDK Motlop

(Carroll)

With extra mids they can rotate through forward line
LOB & Honey dropped

JSOS was dropped and made medical sub.
We lost Durdin and Kennedy before half time and Newman got injured aswell.
Saad got taken to the cleaners by Keys
It was the beginning of our demise in 2022.

Tone of the game was set early when Walker took the forward ruck contest and out muscled Pitto to snap goal.

We have never won at Adelaide oval

We've got until 11am today to challenge, right?

Haven't seen any updates anywhere.

There's a risk all the hooplah distracts the team too, so I'd like to think within the four walls the boys are being kept focused.

If Harry's suspended, the third out becomes clear-cut. If we appeal successfully and Harry plays, I'd leave out JSOS and have Kennedy spend more time forward.

Same. I'd drop JSOS before Fisher. His 3rd quarter was better but his first half was woeful. With TDK also able to rest forward, JSOS goes before Fisher.

Not sure about that. Didn’t we drop JSOS for the Adelaide match last year which some thought was the wrong move from a team morale perspective?
Having said that, if Harry plays, I wouldn’t be averse to dropping him :-D

Be a good test then to see how much we've really grown and matured then as some suggest we have.
Anyway, pretty pathetic if the entire team drops their bundle because one player gets dropped from the 22.

Fisher just played his best game for the year. He won't be dropped and shouldn't be.

A rare good game from Fisher aside, I think both he and LOB are lucky to be on the list.
