Of course , but in their context of the Herald sun article and members forum there is a clear message by the club that expectations are being lowered to effectively go backwards by winning less than 7 games in 2017

Pelchen on fox footy said a month or so ago that carlton is in for alot more pain in the next few years

That settles it then. If the Herald Sun and bloke who cant get a job for an AFL club are giving that impression, its beyond debate.
Keep plucking them out of your arse MF. With no footy about your imagination is providing entertainment value to the site.

Yep. Keep playing the man and not the issue BV

Herald sun quoted sos
Pelchen delivered the hawks 2008 premiership list

I hope you got a nice xmas present BV...as a reward for your blogging support of the present admin

Plenty of uncertainties as usual, if there're unexpected, prolonged injuries we'll hit bottom for certain.
However if we have a decent run with available personal winning at least 7 to 9 games is fesiable.
Development of younsters is vital for the next few years, but of cousre we must keep in touch and create a winning culture were possible too, membership must keep growing.

Expect to see,
-Marchbank to play well along side Weitering down back.
-SPS to provide some class for us.
-Fisher to break into the team and help our average midfield.
-Pickett to get fit, find form for NB's then play some footy up forward, need patience, he could our X..
-Show team footy week in week out.
-Cuningham to stamp himself in games.
-Reckon Polson may sneak a few games in, that's my smokey for the year..
Except to win 6-8 games.
Expect us to target as many picks in the draft as possible.

I think we have improved depth on last year, plus better growth by young kids. 8 wins isn't beyond us.

Did an excursion outside TC into general footy forums. It is a jarring experience with a pretty much universal assessment that we are not just bottom 6 in 2017 but will be rock bottom. Worst forward line (fair enough) worst midfield and average backline.
Obviously they don't read our training reports.
I know we won't be top 8 but not sure the fragility created by the past 15 years could handle any form of regression.

Everyone has an opinion. That's all that means.

What I've believed all along is that bottom teams can improve, and top teams and mid range teams will drop form.

Class has a lot to do with things too, along with development.
Our boys are young and improving.

IMO we have a fair share of class along with a few more up and coming and developing players. Only need a squad of 30 good ones to contend for top honours.

Our Class players:

Murphy
Gibbs
Cripps
Docherty
Simpson
Weitering
Curnow
Curnow
Silvagni
Petrovski-
Fisher

Developing class players

Plowman
Marchbank
McKay
Pickett
Byrne
Polson
Cuningham

and a few which may come off in 2017

LeBoix
Palmer
Sheehan
Glass-Mac
Sumner
Buckley

I see we have plenty of good players who ARE young and improving every week.

Can't see why we can't beat on our day:

1. Richmond
2. Essendon*
3. Collingwood
4. Suns
5. Fremantle
6. Brisbane
7. North
8. Port
9. Melb
10. St Kilda

About time we got over the line in 2017

11.Geelong
12.Sydney
13.Hawks

All the signs are good for improvement at this time of the year.

Being a Carlton fan thinking about the upcoming season is like watching SBS and they have the "following programme contains strong sex scenes" and you get super excited. Then it starts and you realise that you're watching Oz and the sex scene is just violent prison rape.

Funny.

I don't experience that problem.

Bluebaggers isn't just about 2016 or 2017, its about the past 150 yrs and the next 150 yrs.
I feel so lucky and privileged.

Well, you wouldn't want it to be about the last 15 years or the next 15 years would you?

I think that seasons 2017 and 2018 will bring more hope, exuberance and scattered good results.
Bolton and Silvagni are amassing refreshing young talent and these kids will excel,
under Bolton's mentoring and vision.
Let's sit back and enjoy the journey it's so long overdue.

I think we should appoint the Madhouse to manage all our young talent ... that would do the trick.

Glad you mentioned george....the greatest president we ever had. He would be turning in his grave with the state of Carlton

Carlton then had strong pillars
BOARD
ADMIN
SOCIAL CLUB
CARLTONIANS
PRINCES PARK

..george harris had wes lofts, kevin hall, ian collins and strong internal football people that would stand up to the board...a vigorous accountable dynamic

Good quality administration in steven gough

The social club would counterweight the carltonians and board

We are a rabble now compared to then and we need a revolution to get back to the top again
