Hi Steven,

Firstly, congratulations on a terrific night for the football club. As a supporter I was walking a little bit taller this morning in the knowledge that Stage 1 of the rebuild had well and truly commenced. For the first time in many years, I am excited with what the future holds.

As I watched the draft last night a few of my Carlton friends showed me the text message they had received from 'Jacob Weitering'. A nice gesture and good use of the technology. But these friends were already members and indeed that's why they had received the message. The missed opportunity was never more clear.

I'm all for rewarding those who have already made a commitment to the club - however Carlton need members. If I'm not mistaken, the goal is 35,000 prior to Christmas. I know the club has phone numbers of lapsed members or those who haven't signed up yet. The club need to strike while the iron is hot - and it hasn't been this hot in a while. It's these supporters who should have also received the message. I can't imagine this would have been cost prohibitive.

The club has communicated for some months about a change in direction and doing things better. If the club is serious about living in the present - it needs to do just that. There are many supporters like me who are sitting on the fence about becoming a 2016 member. Converting 'supporters' into members doesn't just happen and it is incumbent on you as CEO to drive it.

Please pounce on the opportunities! I look forward to catching up with you soon.

Kind regards,

_____ __________ (lapsed member)

I know you know what these guys need to do.

Great post.

I haven't renewed our memberships because my kids bought the medals memorabillia back in July and were told it would be in the mail, that was followed with...we will send the package as soon as new coach is announced, followed by it will be sent in October, then this was followed by it will be sent November with no explanation why and now there only a few days of November left and we've heard nothing. The @#$%&! club has had my $780 since July and fed me bullshit ever since.

They need to study 101 marketing and get you on board TKI

Just got onboard with the True Blue membership again. Went up in price by $10!!! $50 to $60 that's a big increase.

According to the club website as at mid day today there were 25,093 members.
This breaks the record for the tally as at December 1st by over 3,000.
Good to see.

We are the best club ever. We are killing it with the membership this year. Good feeling coming out of the club.

I guess that's what happens when you have a clear direction and treat supporters with respect by engaging in an inclusive fashion.

And dismantle the factions who treat the club as their play thing.

Just got to stay the course, don't use early draft choices to prise away Prestia/OMeara types next year. Trade into early picks again and then start cherry picking the free agents.

Supporters will love it, they'll take 2-3 years of being rubbish and slowly improving year on year.

I was a lapsed interstate member until 5 minutes ago, just signed up for myself and my two young kids.

After years of frustration with not turning over our list enough and trading away early picks, I'm happy that the club finally seems to have gotten it. I've been critical of the club for a long time, so now they've started off in a more promising direction I'll put my money where my mouth is and donate to the club.

Congrats to Trigg, Silvagni, Bolton, etc. I like what I'm seeing and hearing and I hope that other lapsed members sign on for the ride and kick some $ in.

Let's smash 50K!

Steve, you are but one of many. Club is changing, there's a clear direction the club wants to go in and a plan to get there.

And it doesn't involve oligarchs!!!!

It's what the supporters have wanted for quite sometime, started this year where somehow we managed to get near the previous years membership tally without an oligarch buying 5k memberships.

I reckon 50k easy, aim should be 55k as a stretch target they should be working towards

You're right. The Club is changing - albeit slowly, but there is positive change. CEO and Coach are the face of the club and are doing some pretty good work. I, among others, would be an absolute hypocrite if after all this change I've been screaming for still got on my high horse and had a cry that not enough change was happening. It's a slow road.

They're trying - and they're trying in the right areas. It doesn't matter who does it - as long as it's being done. That's enough for me to get a 2016 membership.
