So for this game we have not playing Menzel Gibbs carrazzo walker Judd big knockers (warnock) Docherty -6 of which are in our best side and Menzel and Docherty 2 of our most promising players
Byrne and Sheehan whilst not in that category would have been handy to have access to
On that basis won't be a bad effort if we happen to beat the dogs

Ellard's been around for a while.
To be fair I think he's played at least 3 good games .

I think he may have had decent 1/4s.

I'm not a huge Watson fan but the guy has won a few games off his own bat. Poor comparison.

If the idea is that he is permanent sub and so allows players to get full VFL games, it might make some sense. But this is a blight on Barker's resume.

Ellard is probably just performing the role as asked.

Plus, three changes is still quite a lot particularly when two of them are almost brand new players and Holman was just introduced. Graham is playing about his 4th full game of footy.

I'm sure the plan is to roll the marginal and new players through the firsts for the balance of the year but, right now, we have a lot of newish players already.

Our midfield will include

Cripps
Holman
Boek
Graham

That's a very young line up to have around the footy.

I can handle Ellard if he plays a defensive forward role on Bob Murphy. He played that role ok last season.

Murphy's clearly in better nick than last year; he would shred Ellard on current form.

I know, I'm not knocking the thinking at all, just think it should be preferenced behind using Johnson and Armfield for the roles on Murphy & Wood.

That said, Ellard was merely the best of a bad bunch last year. Armfield's fitness has been immensely helpful to our tactics.

Docherty is the biggest loss for mine. He'd be leading our B&F.

Carrazzo is also a bigger loss than most posters will credit.

Very inexperienced midfield this week. I reckon we're up against it.
