Ellard??

Are you kidding me.
The pefect game to blood Boekhurst or give Tutt another chance.
Is this the coach worrying too much about the result.
Ellard is finished as an AFL footballer. No matter how nice a guy or how hard he works, this is a waste of valuable playing time.

Barker wants the gig next year then? Or does he?

Perhaps they reckon the younger players will be better served playing full games at the lower level, rather than 18 minutes of footy at AFL level? (Assuming Ellard plays as the sub.)

I think the tide has turned on the whole sub experiment.

Getting tired of seeing a designated sub selection; it should be a rotational role to give someone a bit of a rest on game day.

Bringing someone back from injury or up from the VFL via there is just stupid. I understand the logic of making Watson show some consistency in his form, but BB has been on the verge for weeks. Disappointing that they don't think he can contribute for at least 3 quarters (I think they're wrong personally).

Good theory, but I reckon all the emergencies - including BB - will only play the first half of the VFL this week.

4 weeks ago had ellard been selected instead of Bokeheurst, this forum would be in meltdown.

Jezz has a point.

Very surprised with the Ellard inclusion.

Maybe but is BB fit enough to play a full game yet? Ellard may have a particular role.

I'm all for playing the younger players but they need to be able to run out a game. Guys like BB & Smith just aren't ready yet.

Dozen players brought onto the list at the end of last year and not one playing

Ellard over Boke one negative amidst many positives and improved effort and competitiveness. So on balance people accept it. Under mick it was one of many negatives so wasn't tolerated.

Early days but I'm not confident about last years selections. BB, DVR, Smith & Foster along with Jones, Tutt & Dick adds up to some very poor recruiting.

Ellard has earnt a spot. Holman has too.

About time we have players getting a game who have banged the door down with form.

BB puts another good game on the table, then he will get his chance too.

Ellard has far and away been the standout performer for a month now. He deserves promotion more than anyone.
Boekhorst is improving every week. Let him build his confidence and bring him in in a week or so.

don't mind ellard being given a go under the new coaching structure - as per curnow, he might perform better than expected now that the defensive shackles have been released. If not, at least we can say that an informed decision has been made if and when a decision is made on his position on the list next year.

JB is looking for hardness at the footy and the man more than the points. He is trying to instill a culture in a short time. Ellard gives us that. He also pops up for the odd goal.
When we are looking for outside run, after we have been consistent with the
unsociable' footy, the outside runners will get their chance on the understanding they have to go when it's their turn.
Ellard is a soldier. He may never get a BOG but he will give you 100%. That's what we want from everybody right now.
