Our slowest midfielders are Ellard, Graham, Whiley, Gibbs, Carrazzo, Walsh and Cripps, possibly in that order.

so you're saying holman is faster than all of them?

Consistently, yes.

Well that's it then. Perfect match up for Betts. :?

How many of our current defenders have played against him successfully? Only played him once, and he kicked 4.

When was our last successful defender against small forwards?

So we have had one game against him and didn't do so well so play Holman on him? :?

Personally I'd look at Tuohy, Docherty or even White. Betts has struggled against taller players and White is fairly mobile. Might be a better option.

I hope that if Holman gets a game it's in the midfield where he belongs.

White should just go the knuckle early.

Walks on Milne a few years ago and I think the next time we played them as well. I'd put Tex on him, but we need him forward too. :banghead: Tex is strong, has mobility and speed off the mark and doesn't have to extend that dodgy shoulder as much when punching the ball away.

Taller players that have matched him for speed, like a younger Lumumba.

You've made a better case for Armfield and Curnow than any of the names you've mentioned.

I prefer Walker forward as well but it's a good option.

You are just deliberately trying to stir discussion aren't you. There can be no other sane reason. :screwy:

Armfield (a defensive forward) or Curnow (a mid tagger) ahead of the 3 possible defenders I mentioned?

Curnow's been playing off half-back regularly in recent weeks.

I'm highlighting a clear structural weakness of ours and running the rule through the options. It's a slow day.

vs Swans - 23 possessions (13 uncontested), 4 clearances (1 centre bounce), 2 rebound 50s, 94% game time
vs Geelong - 16 possessions (8 uncontested), 1 clearance, 4 rebound 50s, 89% game time
vs GWS - 31 possessions (27 uncontested), 1 clearance, 5 rebound 50s, 98% game time
vs Brisbane - 23 possessions (15 uncontested), 1 clearance, 1 rebound 50, 91% game time
vs Collingwood - 20 possessions (10 uncontested), 3 clearances (1 centre bounce), 0 rebound 50s, 87% game time

Two of these things are not like the others, two of these things are not like the rest...

What? I think your brain chemistry is all mixed up. I am all for a forthright discussion but you continually make absolutely no sense at all.

What does his possessions have anything to do with him playing off HB as you claim?

That's why he was nearly in tears after the Cats game. Always works his arse off.
