Boeky was good but ran out of gas in the second.

Looks for all the world to me like Wellingham when he was at the Pies.

I saw Boeky blowing up in time on of the first. I like what i saw of him up til that point.
How long until he gets a tank? 1 or 2 more pre season?

84% game time, 13 possessions, 2 behinds, 4 inside 50s and a goal assist.

Start him again next week and if he blows up, sub him out then send him back to the VFL. Easy to do. Everything to gain, little to lose.

I know he's not exactly flavour of the month but I thought Ellard was one of the few players to get stuck in and get his head over the ball when most of his team mates were wetting themselves in possession and refusing to put in a shift. You can see why MM is willing to look past his deficiencies and keep picking him.

Had to get patched up for a blood nose but just the 67% game time. Lucky for us, it was a small ground and we could hide anyone who was hurting us on the bench.

Did his best work coming in off the flanks and pinching the centre clearance possession, but always had his direct opponent right there to smash into him when he took possession. Has reasonably clean hands but he's no Cripps, both in stature and ability to keep team possession ticking over.

Time for him to move out of the team now that some of the younger players are rising to the challenge set forth by the match committee.

Not what I meant, obviously.

look i'm the first to bag players but he's getting better and better. he is moving much better. he doesn't look anywhere near as slow. his hands are unbelievable. he's going to be a terrific terrific mid field extractor for a long time and his rate of improvement in his run this year shows there is probably more to come.

you can't expect any more from a kid this early in his career. there should be no buts. its not his first good game. he's regularly getting his hands on it.

Cripps huge talent. 10year midfielder. At last we've drafted a gem.
Buckley and Boekhurst's pace made a big difference.
Murphy persisted and can hold his head high. Just keep doing that each week.
I cannot believe the kicking of Casboult and Jones for AFL players. Mind boggling.
Bell is very good when he's good and very bad when he's not

Didn't I say he played a good game?
I think you see only what you want.
What i said is against a young opposition on a slow track on a congested ground you'd expect that..
And we will get a better idea next week...

I sometimes wonder how desperate people are in hope that they can't see that it isn't about that game..
You measure yourself individually and as a club against the best not the worst.
Magpies won playing a few young kids all playing their part on a big ground on a big stage

Thought Armfield's game today was fantastic.

Savage barely sighted. Shut him out of it completely.

Its a starting point for our 2015 season.....................and yes,i am veryy happy to have a win.In all the years i have been following the Blues i enjoy a win no matter the quality of the opposition.Celebrate and enjoy the win for what it is and leave the analysis for tomorrow.................oh ,and i think we can give the Pies a beating next week.No doubt the Pies are travelling well but are far from a champion outfit .I actually think the hard tag style of game throws the Pies off there game.Play'em man on man without any space and they will fold.Let 'em run loose and they will shred us.

So yeah, these guys were surprisingly awesome:

Cripps
Armfield
Ellard
Henderson
Boekhurst

And I thought Murphy was generally done as a footballer, but he was almost as good as Cripps.

No you keep putting him down by qualifying .... he played a great game against St Kilda players you have wet yourself over in the past (Billings, Dunstan).

But please continue Bill Shorten....
