Carlton Sponsors Dinner Report

Friday 10/7/2015 Richmond v Carlton

I met 'The Rhino' outside Gate 3 of the MCG.
He was running a touch late due, which gave me time to observe the quality of those arriving in Richmond colours.
This was quite an eye opening experience.
We proceeded inside and were directed to take the elevator to level 3.
Just as the doors were closing, a leggy brunette stopped them and got in.
Took me a second to realise it was Megan Gale! She was unhappy the lift bypassed her stop. Blamed 'The Rhino'. Had it coming.

Anyways, we got to the function and sat at our table.
We met a couple of blokes there, who believed that their sponsorship of a player was also the kiss of death. So we are not alone!
They had been through quite a few of Carlton's delistees too.

The evening was compared by Sean Cosgrove who 'The Rhino' informed me hosted a show named 'Supermarket Sweep'.
I've never seen it. (Will google it at some point)
He introduced Lleyton Hewitt. Little Lleyton is seriously little, he spoke for a little while, was pretty entertaining.
Then steak was served.
Looked across during dinner and saw Jake King and his entourage. Not sure what they were doing at the Carlton sponsors night.
We avoided asking questions.
He took some photos with some types who closely resembled Carlton Cheer Squad members.
Anyways... had a fair few beers, then it was game time.
They gave us traveller beers for the 3 minute walk to our seats and for some unknown reason ice creams.

Came back at half time for sausage rolls, pies and scones. Also had prize draws.
Game was so bad to that point that 'The Rhino' and i almost went home.

We decided to stay however, got a few rums in, then back onto the beers (as they were free)

We then watched the second half with Jimmy Buckley.
He's quite a passionate man. Got a bit of an insight as to how the Club was during his time and his views on the future of the Club.
Got a fair few rounds in with him and watched the end of the game.
At the end of the game Alex Marcou rolled in and Jim introduced us to him.

Had a few more with them, then they suggested we all go over to the Pullman for more beers.
Chatted with them for the rest of the evening, pretty much listening to great premiership stories!
Alex then grabbed Stephen Trigg to introduce us.
Seemed like a pretty good bloke. Was pretty concerned with our injuries sustained during the match.
Chatted about the MRP and disappointment last week.

Was a great night!

You lucky, lucky bastards.
