I'm all for playing young guys, but let's be honest, Johnson and Holman were our worst players last week, by a fair margin. Holman got dominated by every opponent he went near and Johnson turned it over too many times. The kids can't just be gifted a game, they have to earn it. They might end up coming in as a late change, but if not they've at least had a taste this year and can build on it.

Having said all that, graham is very unlucky I reckon.

If anyone is being gifted a game it's Armfield, he was god awful against the Cats.

Yeah went to box hill last week and armfield was ordinary.
Surprised Cripps didn't get a call up, he looks fit and ready...
Garlett didn't even look interested, reckon he's gone and knows it..
No kreuzer, walker, everitt, Robinson, Henderson and Thomas this week, maybe add Buckley, few missing from our best 22..
Just hope we put some kind of performance in....

So Watson in as a forward or back?

..backline is settled, has been playing forward in the reserves.. ..so maybe forward, especially of we may not retain Waite and/or bolt..

Just submitted my take on "14 ways to know you're a true Carlton supporter".

A red-hot hatred of Essendon* is a recurring theme, particularly #6...

Your odium for all things Essendon* is such that you refuse to apologise when asked to leave the MCC after screaming to an 84-year-old Bomber supporter “You’re going down tonight mother****er!” and cannot see how that he is in a wheelchair is relevant to your argument.

If Waite's going I'd leave him out, or make him sub and leave him on the bench all day.

At least he is playing his last game for us against his favourite club.

Agree... We shouldn't be gifting games to players just because they re kids.
All 3 have of the outs had a taste of senior footy... have seen what standard is required, and haven't been up to it (Hollman was like a dear in headlights last week). They now know how hard they have to work in the pre season to get to AFL standard.
I'm ok with the changes, Id like our last game of the year to be a competitive effort rather then yet another blow out as it probably would ve been if we d gone with the kids again like last week.
Letting the season just burn out with uncompetitive efforts like we used to in the Pagan years (and like Melbourne are doing now) serves no purpose.

What's the difference to gifting older players games? Kids are the future, the older players aren't. I can understand the changes but I'm not sure I understand why it's gifting. More like development IMO.

I actually believe if Armfield & Watson didn't have contracts for next year (I still don't get why) they wouldn't be in. It may well be about giving them some positivity and/or hope coming into pre season?

funny you should mention wheelchairs Elbow.
I remember one year, the minder of a CfC supporting wheelchairee, was a rabid Bummers supporters. we were in the Social Club section, 2nd tier, at the G.
The minder's abuse was personally directed at our players, nd we were all extremely pissed off, and glaring at him. One supporter was inebriated and threatening to punch him.
He ended up getting right in theminder's face, but...after security came, we all made sure it was the minder who went.
unfortunately the wheelchair guy had to go too.
oops.
