Graham's goal was special, especially after doing the hard work to put in a shepherd.

Just a quiet wrap for Simon White too. Not the most talented bloke but week in week out you see opposition forwards getting really pissed off at him and losing their rag. Shows he is very good at taking them out of the game.

Annoyed but stoked with Robbo for that hit too. Annoyed that he'll do time but it's been quite a while since we saw someone from Carlton take a bloke out like that.

Waite wouldn't have played like that if he WASN'T dropped. And you know it.

wouldn't get too excited about last night as his days are numbered

his body is shot

So Waite should kick at least 4 goals every game?

Nuts.

Didn't see all of Scott presser but a couple of points:

Lamented allowing Carlton so many uncontested marks - Can't win footy games if opp. take so many uncontested marks.

Used the well worn line of his team "hoping Carlton would lose the game" rather than Kangas going out and winning it.

Oh yes he should have.

Exactly. MM has been hard with Waite and told him a few truths and he has had to earn his way back. That's a positive and what he needed. The key now is for him to do it consistently.

Pros:

Strong performance.
Dominated in the air. Interesting how much we've changed in recent years. From a team that wins when small forwards fire. Generally at the bigger grounds. To a team that wins when tall forwards fire. Generally at the smaller, indoor ground.
Hendo, Waite, Rowe. Great to finally have someone who can match up with Petrie.
Gibbs and Murphy. Yarran and Simmo. Not often those 4 get to roam free. Strange coaching from opposition.
Nice having a ruckman who can take a mark.
Graham's best performance.
Good run with the umps.

Cons:

Injuries.
Goals late in quarters.

He did it with Yarran. Now with Waite. Next Jeffy (I still have faith). Laidler just didn't want to buy in.

I really believe MM has made a lot of players accountable and that has been good and what we needed. Unfortunately I still can't see Waite being around next year. Last night was typical of him, the good game that will be mixed with 3-4 weeks of bad plus I don't think physically he can stand up for another year. Also, the North defence gave him way too much room last night.

As for Garlett I can't see him being around next year.

jut watched the replay, and a few things stood out -

Rowe was fantastic! kudos to him, and am really pleased for the bloke. most improved at the club

waite was good, but as mentioned, needs to back this up. pleasing though

Hendo was great, if he kicked straight could have had 9. loved his leadership, every time the camera went on him after a break in play, he was instructing others, talking to others. even after he kicked his sixth, he was telling players no to drop off (as I lip read, but he also might have been saying Paul is dead...), I think this bloke could be a great captain, not knocking Murph

Gibbs was really good, seemed to be everywhere as did Simmo and Bell

daisy was almost invisible

white and touhy were solid

loved players flying the flag, a couple of times there were a few wrestles and a bit of agro and it was good to see our boys give as good as they got

robbo will go, mainly due to his bad record, but he cleaned up the wrong player. should have hit Harvey

gotta feel for Menz and Everett, Everett didn't seem so bad, and he came back on, but with our medico's, they would have sent him back on if his leg had fallen off. Menz's looked really bad, best of luck to them both

great match to watch, but a long road back to top 4

His around the ground work was slightly better than Warnock. Inside work the same if not worse.

Even result at best. That is being generous.

Meh. Took a mark. Sold.

Warnock averages 0.9 (14 total) marks per game this season... Wood took 7 tonight

Exactly. You can't play as a ruckman and not take marks. Unless we're winning the clearances 70% of the time because of his immaculate hit outs, it's not worth carrying a passenger.

Contested marks, line breaking runners, long accurate kicking and instinctive, cohesive handballing are the ways to overcome opposition full ground defenses.

These attributes allow you to beat sides even when they're not having a bad day.

If we have 4-5 outstanding contested marks in the side, it takes a lot of pressure off our skills and decision making.

We have Levi, Waite and Hendo.

Jammo is capable.

Rowe has been spoiling well and becoming more confident.

If he, Jammo and Wood can provide 1-3 contested marks a game it will change everything.

When in doubt, just kick it long to the big blokes.

Only managed to catch the last 5 mins of the last quarter on TV.

I flicked it on and the crown was booing Majak Daw when he took possession?

What was the deal with that?

I'm hoping he hit someone during the games and that wasn't anything else?

Waite was poor before he got dropped. He has come back and played a ripper game. Perhaps it vindicates Micks decision of sending him to the twos to find some form and some heart.

Warnock consistently wins the tap outs, then does sweet FA. he is a virtual statue after that. if anyone thinks that's the roll of a modern day ruckman, they've got rocks in their head. Give me a competitive, physical and mobile option every time.

Didn't see his PC, but he whinged in the box about a North player called for throwing and Menzel getting a free after he was taken high. Guess he was expecting his team would have the same luck as his brother's in that regard.

Most enjoyable night at the footy for a long, long, time. Hendo, Waite, Bolt, Wood, what a difference having marking options up forward makes. Gee Bolt's fitness has improved, quicker and covers a lot more ground now. Rowe and White great, White is a very underrated player. Graham could be a star, loved the look of him. If Bell can get a good run at it could be a great player, loved his aggression. Murph still gets the wobbles when near goal, seems like he'll do nearly anything rather than have a shot. Gibbs, just great. I agree with an earlier comment, played out of position under Rats, could never understand it at the time.

I'm afraid with his record Robbo is gone. Dumb act. Who would've expected that from Robbo.

Daw was being booed because he cleaned up Hendo after he had taken a mark. Should have been 50, he still kicked the goal though.
