Come on guys, be realistic, we all knew at the start of the year that our list, in terms of talent, was somewhere between Bendigo Gold and the Yarrawonga Pigeons and that it would take a coach of unparalleled genius to get us within ten goals of any other side, let alone win a game. Fortunately our coach is an unparalleled genius, if you don't believe me just ask him. The worse we go, the worse our list becomes. It'll be inferior to a little league side by year's end. The alternative is to criticise Mighty Mick and that is not on. It's not like we are a club with a history of hasty, lazy, ill concieved appointments.

Fair enough you feel this way. MM hasnt bought much to the table other than his reputation.
If Daisy doesnt improve, then MM will cop it, so hope we dont start negotiating extension of contract till midway next season.

I believe the coach is the one wno weaves all the talent to make the team gel. We dont seem to be gelling.
Yes, I agree players should motivate themselves to commit to a game with 100% gusto, but the coach should weed out those who dont.

Seems same old same old week in week out.

Im giving MM benefit of the doubt, but I do have a huge spotlight on him!

Thus forum is just as much of a rabble as the club itself. When everything becomes too much to contemplate, it all boils down to 'sack the coach'. It's ironic and absolutely bloody pathetic!

When the club appears to be a rabble, everyone should be under the spotlight.

We've changed the President
We've changed the Head of Recruitment
We are changing the CEO.
We have changed 10 players.
We'll turnover more players this year

You see its not just about the coach. Change is happening everywhere.
At Carlton, the spotlight is on everyone when we are failing. So it should be that way.

We believe in the coach, whilst he has a contract, but he seems to be changing his tune over the duration of his tenure.
Lets see what he says midway through 2015 before we recontract him.

At this minute, I'm all for continuing with the support of MM to top up our list.
I dont think anyone should be feeling safe whilst we're failing.

He's right.

He may well be but is he coaching our side to play in todays modern game or is he coaching for a specticle

AFL is moving closer and closer to the rugby codes with teams pushing up and back creating a defensive line
The stoppages are resembling a maul or scrum and when it comes free of the stoppage its like a clean out and the ball is spread wide to the runners.
They are often trying to catch them over the top not to disimilar to the kick and chase
They are trying to keep possession
They dont mind if the ball goes out in the forward line as it yhen becomes like a line out and set play
Malthouse aint playing that game

According to champion data (so far in 2014)

1. No team has been easier to punish on the turnover than Carlton.
2. No.1 team using the wing
3. Ranked 17th in corridor use
4. On average they hit the target 2.7% less than their opponents – ranked 16th
5. The Blues have scored 110 fewer points from turnovers than the opposition – ranked 15th

However we have been ok in contested ball over the past few weeks ranked about 7th.

how in gods name can he complain about the spectacle of the game
how is his game plan a good spectacle

maybe instead of whinging he should use some of his time to implement a game plan to beat the pathetic under 9's footy

statements like this just support my concept of him that he hasn’t got any answers

I actually quite like Mick as a coach. He should turn himself and the team around soon. And what better way than to annoy Eddie and the clowns at Lexus center.

Only need to win about 8 of the remaining 9 games and we are in the finals

Defenders 14th
Midfield/Rucks 3rd
Forwards 2nd
LIST QUALITY 9th

PORT ADELAIDE
Defenders 18th
Midfield/Rucks 12th
Forwards 17th
LIST QUALITY 17th

It seems that the main thing Mick needed to do in the short term, to our list was improve our defense which was ranked 14th in the league.

I wonder if our Forwards and Mids/Rucks are still ranked 2nd and 3rd respectively???

Hawthorn's mids/Rucks were ranked 9th in the league at the end of 2012. But their list was rated Number 1, and their Defenders 2nd and forwards 1st. (They chased ratten to improve their midfield and stoppages, areas which ratten was actually quite good at - gee I wonder who won the 2013 GF??)

One of the reasons our forwards were ranked 2nd, even after an injury riddled year, was Eddie Betts - the competitions most defensive forward. Of course Mick couldnt find a spot for poor old Eddie, couldnt find the 90k to keep him here. And Swann didnt seem too interested in trying - he was very busy writing up a nice 700k/year retirement package for Daisy.

No other team would fork out 1 million for Mick as senior coach, appoint Wiley out of his depth as Director of coaching and development on 400k, and pay 700k/year for Daisy who had an injury cloud and isnt a KPP anyway.

Dont think Ken Hinkley would have done that if he took over at Princes park - and we would have saved 600k per year and had a different coaching and development director.

we will still beat the pies this week, should do well in the remaining games

Simple Logic is a fools paradise. In 1962 Warren Buffet bought the Berkshire Hathaway suit company, the same year my parents bought a house in forest hills for 2000 pounds. Warren Buffet lost all of his investment apart from the brand name. My parents have made a 3000% profit on their initial funds. My parents are better investors than Warren Buffet.

Mick now blames the state of the game - he doesnt even recognise the game. He is in another sporting code, lost and bereft of ideas and passion. And we must pay him the most we have ever paid any coach in our 150 years of existence.

We must for his farewell tour, we must pay for Wiley as well, and for Daisy, All up a cool 2.5 million per year. We must pay for this Coach who doesnt recognise the game he is involved in. I am very sad for Mick, because I am a big fan of his approach to player management and his football philosophy

Carlton coach Mick Malthouse says the game of Australian football has become unrecognisable.

Malthouse, a 701-game coaching legend, is fed up with the aesthetics of the modern game and has called on the AFL to make some rule changes to get the game back on track.

"If I wasn't coaching, I'd hate the game," Malthouse said at the MCG on Thursday morning.

"We've moved so far away from what our Australian game was."

Whether mick is delecting or not isnt the point.
The point is the game is sick.
But if we look beyond that to Cretylus' logic the teams all stay the same each year... no team improving .. no team getting older.. no team finding any new players.. the world stays the same as his 2011 synopsis.
Its a time when footy stayed the same.

The point is the game has changed.
New teams are in the league
If you havent recruited well enough and your team has become older.. youre soon overun.
4 years is a half a generation in footy
Life whizzes past and so it does with football.

The game is really at a low point.. and so is the CFC.
Why?
Because things change all the time and if youre not up with it youll fail
