Pearcey could come on the board as part of the Sticking Fat Sub-Committee.

Anyway, his son sounds different and very savvy. We have to judged him as Tom Elliot, not son of Jack

Big jack also left a huge financial mess and oversaw draft penalties that came at the wrong time.

And incidentally, President Rice won back to back flags in 81/82 didn't he? wasn't there very long too.

Another Disaster looming IMO if we have another Elliot in charge. Please ... there must be better choices.

Cliffs - former lawyer, owner of a global advertising agency who sold it in to open Cherry Bar, and now owner of Yah Yahs and Evie. As his Facebook shows - passionate Carlton supporter also.

Aside from being a really switched on bloke, my interest in getting him to run on the board comes back to how he has dealt with Melbourne City Council and the "agent of change" laws being brought in to protect owners of live music venues against new tenants complaining of noise.

I think dealing with MCC over the next few years, in terms of how we use the ground as an asset, is going to be crucial. He's got the runs on the board - and I'm sure a potential venue for Cherry Rock wouldn't go astray for him either.

the club has historically never embraced people who ask too many questions at board level...

Also used to co host RRR along with Kate Langbroek years ago, then ended up station manager there or awhile.
Jim Bob Young. Ha! who'dathunkit.
Does he want the job?

I sometime listen to Tom Elliott in the car.....he does the Drive shift on 3AW weeknights.

He's obviously very intelligent, and is a good host in that he's a good listener to his audience.

He's a very successful businessman in his own right; and loves the CFC....so far so good.

Importantly....does he want the job?

Positive response last time I asked (3AM Sat morning at Cherry). No response in the cold light of day so far.

If I were drawing up a "dream" ticket as such, I think I'd go:

Tom Elliott
Alan Eskander
James Young
Ian Herman
Ian Prendergast

5 man board will do. Clear idea who the leader is, and plenty to offer at board level without toes being stepped on.

All I know is radical change is needed.
How the hec we can ever shift those entrenched ones is something to pray for at Easter I reckon.

OK....but it is a Tom Elliott thread, and 3am doesn't sound like Tom Elliott.

Add Tony Moclair and you'd have the perfect board for RRR.....oops, sorry, the alternative ticket for CFC president!! Seriously, you could do wonders with Tom and James- both good people who are very switched on and more importantly, would understand what required for today's corporate football environment.

Would be nice to be practical, and say we remove one faction but not the other, just in case things really go to shit.

Realistically though, if a challenge does occur - both have to go for it to work.

Given the way the constitution of the club is set up, and the likelihood that the murmurs of where our membership numbers are coming from are legit. Would a challenge even stand up?

Is it worthwhile politically for the Pratts or the Mathiesons to get into bed with a potential new ticket, or just stay in this uncomfortable 0-0 draw arrangement with each other?

If I were Ruffy Germinder - I'd explore what the pros and cons are of taking on the club debt as a personal (or corporate) responsibility, "publicly wiping out the club debt" and see whether it would justify a good writeoff for Visy. Would justify his spot at the table, in light of Bruce's bleating but not doing anything about it. Publicly pressure the Mathiesons to remove one of their board representation for the good of the club, and in response, have Ruffy or Jeannie step down.

Then again, I was never any good at chess..

Tony's an old friend of mine.

Good guy and loves the club but not sure I'd want him as a board member.

I'd be better.

Vote 1 - GWS.

You know it makes sense.

Ill vote for you, if you vote for me. Two more of us and we'll have ourselves a good old fashioned Carlton faction.
