In 1901, on this nations date of federation, about 96% of Australians claimed to be Christian

.the recent census has the level at about 62%.

The next largest religious group is surprisingly Bhuddism at 2.5% of the Australian public.

The fastest growing non religious group is Atheism/no religion which has grown rapidly over the past 40 years. This group sits at about 22% at the moment.

It's not just about some delusional corporatised materialistic commercialized advertisement for CHOICE.

it's about values - and I don't mean Christian values (some of wish obviously clash with the corporate capitalist model - in fact capitalism and christianity are morally incompatible ideas. A topic for another thread perhaps).

Its a little bit like the world tolerating a small nation that wants genuine democratic processes and more importantly opting out of the globalised banking cartel. We mustn't have that ladies and gentlemen. There must NEVER be an example that the world or a community can point to, and say "how come they do it like that over there - that's not a bad way to go, let's give that a go, it seems to be working fine there"

Personally I would have a non religious based charity or family day where everything is closed except for essential services. Preferably once a month on a Saturday.

Imagine the horror of Aussie rule fans on a Saturday having to go without a game or a replay for 24 hours and dedicate that day to charity and improving society?

The religion of sport may even collapse before their very eyes.

In fact one can argue that fans attending football matches are more religiously fundamentalist than your average church goer. AFL is essentially a cult religion with small numbers. Numbers that assemble in tribes and behave in a group think manner. There is a psychological condition to describe this illness, but I can't recall the correct medical terminology.

Bullshit, m8. I read the paper today. Did you know that the nautical top that Kate Middleton has been wearing to public appearances recently has sold out at clothing venues EVERYWHERE?

I actually really like having Good Friday as an enforced "do nothing" day so I don't reckon I'd go.

Also, why should my Easter break start off with an inept Carlton performance?

The so called intellectual class is there for a specific purpose - to ensure that democracy and freedom dont take hold in society. To enhance the wealth and power of the elite and to shut out the publci from the major decision making processes.

its all about "manufacturing consent" rather descent

Our schools are used to indoctrinate young people into obedient corporate slaves that NEVER become activists. People must NEVER demand anything, never defend their rights etc...

obedient corporate slaves

Go to the footy and barrack for a team - eat junk food for ridiculous prices, and bet on the game...

family

The 20th century saw the emergence of 3 major pillars of fascism

Bolshevism
Nazism
Corporatism

Do you believe we live in a free, just and democratic society?
