I'd say Hampson's game could be one of the worst Ive seen by a Carlton player for a long time personally.

Agree - was the first thing a mate said to me after the game and I agree - I thought Cain Ackland was back on the list

Ah, Cain Ackland. Does he bring back fond memories or what.

Dont laugh....!!!.. we almost had Trent Knobel instead of Eddie Betts if the AFL didnt step in to save us from ourselves...

Mate, where's your cut-off point on the past.

Let it go as it will consume you. Seriously.

Refresh my memory Synbad about the AFL stepping in regarding Knobel?

Knobel was training with us and Richmond decided to draft him first.

http://www.carltonfc.com.au/news/2012-1 ... raft-elite

Quote:
“Trent Knobel was our priority, but Richmond picked him,” Hughes said.

“We were looking for a ruckman, but when Terry Wallace (the then Richmond coach) told Knobel they were going to pick him

There is no cut off point to the past.. just when we get it right in the present......!!!... probably when we win a flag...!!!
Its a club mentality and culture.
Hopefully Fahour takes over soon as begins kicking the heads that need to be kicked off...!!

Would love Menzel to get a run, and it sounds like Ellard deserves one.

With Gibbs out though, I would suggest Laidler might be the inclusion if we want a half back sweeper (not sure it's necessary against Melbourne).

I'd be resting Jamo as well if he's sore.

Geelong, premiers 2007, good side.
Geelong, runners up 2008, good side maybe underachieving.
Geelong, premiers 2009, great side.
Geelong, preliminary final, maybe on the sled.
Geelong, premiers 2011, one of the greatest sides in the modern era,
Geelong, preliminary final 2012, still classed a great side.
Geelong, 2013, won around 125 games out of there past 150, lauded for there great team culture, work ethic, feared by other clubs.

Your're right we have a long long long way to go.

I'd give Jamo a rest if he's even a little sore.

Out: Gibbs & Jamo
In: Ellard & Laidler.

None of the talls really did enough this week to get a game, so we keep Hammer for another week whilst we wait for Waite. Laidler probably also doesn't deserve a game, but we need an extra defender.

@Bosman - don't point out to the badman the alcohol has got to him. He'll definitely argue he didn't say it

What sort of a half baked, soft cock effort is that?

You don't rate him. You've spent the equivalent of an academic essay telling us such, yet you come up with the equivalent of giving him one more chance.

Stick to your guns. It can only add to your crediibilty.

And don't give us this bullshit that MM has no one else to replace him with. If MM thinks he's not pulling his weight, he'll drop him.

IMHO, he's been one of MM's successes this year (and believe me, I'm not a glass half full person when it comes to Carlton)

Out: Hampson (omit) White (omit) Gibbs Jamo (if injured)
In: Mitchell (just give him a go at senior level), Laidler, Ellard/White or Watson (for Jamo)
One more chance for Rowe...Spend all week on ruck practice

Nothing soft cock in saying Ratten was a dud coach.. pretty sure people are realising that now.
And nothing soft cock about saying we have a Rapahel Clarke on our hands.
These things are not mutually exclusive.

Whats soft cock is accusing me of making soft cock remarks when you dont understand that

Let's just stick to facts. All your "Ratten is a dud coach" and Raphael Clark" comments just deflect from the argument.

You DONT rate Lucas and have hung, drawn and quartered him in another thread. FACT

Even when other posters have questioned you as to whether injury and Ratten's poor development (which you have been banging on about) may have contributed to Lucas' slow progress, you reload and give Lucas another barrel. FACT
In your opinion, Lucas is not worthy of wearing the Carlton jumper. FACT
You're still prepared to keep him in the side this week, offering a softcock "he must lift". FACT

Honestly speaking Synbad, I agree with 90% of what you write. My mates and I are pulling our hair out with what has happened to this once great club over the last 15 years or so.

Time will tell about Lucas. You don't know and I don't know. All I know is that whilst there were better players available at the draft, he's a product of Ratten's wasted years. He's improved a hell of alot after just 20 quarters under MM. If you can't see that, we agree to disagree.

Not trying to argue with Synbad, hell no, you never win...

I just can't recall anything about the AFL getting involved at the time.

Mike Sheehan seems to think Kreuzer is a good chance to play

Interestingly, OTC noted that if we lose a clearance we are ranked 16th for goals scored by the opposition....that is what it was like under Ratten a lot too...lose possession and never see the ball again until the opposition scored.

I'd bring in either Ellard or Bell to replaces Gibbs and play Juddy in the backline to play Gibbs' role.

I'm an Ellard fan, and would like to see him in the seniors. But want Bell playing in the seniors even more. Got a far bigger upside than Ellard. With the draw we've got coming up, I'd like to see Bell play seniors the next 6 weeks! Play Bell in the Carrazzo role. Give Carrazzo a break and send him to play as a rebounding HB.

We should be hell bent on eradicating our lapses and playing four quarters of good footy.

If we approach this game as a percentage booster we will get our pants pulled down.

We certainly aren't at the stage where we can pencil in wins and 'rest' players IMHO.

As we all know, in the past we have dropped games we shouldn't of far too many times.

defending whether as an individual or collectively is a skill and can be improved

Carrots will finish his career with a reputation like Cam Lings.

That would be a good outcome IMO.

teague have your cheap fun...and yeah .. in my opinion Lucas is yet another early flop.
Cant kick
cant tackle
cant put his head over the ball.. and yet were trying to play finals.. theyre all the pre requisites.
He would be on Sydneys first flight to a club like StKilda.
Unless Lucas pulls the digit out quick smart... he will be the guy that when he touches the ball.. there will be a collective groan from the crowd.
That isnt the supporters fault...he wont be the first to cop it or the last... but hes heading down that road to Hades.
Its up to Lucas now us....
Opposition players dont even bother getting rid of the ball when hes around... they just back themselves to run over the top of him.
Hes had 3 full seasons now to work on his strength and intestinal fortitude for the contest....
Garlett was stronger in his first season and definitely a better tackler..
Whether YOU like it or not.. its how it is...!!!

Yeah we all wanted Vance/Massie/Livo/Sporne/Wiggo/Russell/Watson to succeed..... ultimately they didnt .. (yes Watsons papers are stamped too)...Lucas is well on the way to yet another early pick legend .
