The tackling of Kane Lucas....disgraceful...soft, insipid.

When are we going to see this defensive edge that Malthouse was meant to bring in? All i see are shootouts.

When are we going to see something different from him that shows us the reason why we are paying top dollar for his services?
Just a hint even?

Still not exited.

Proud of the boys for a good effort but we came up short. Pity about the in the back to Armfield that the umpires let go when we were five points down. We'll get them next time, can't wait!

For a game that was so close the reaction is way over the top. Had Armfield received the freekick he should have, when we were pressing to get ahead with 3 minutes to go - things could have been opposite. Same with last week. Had Yarran scored we would have seen an overflow of "the greatest comeback" etc. The team is still learning an d thats why we loose the close ones. Have a look at Freo last year. It takes a bit of time and it will click soon. It's just bad luck we have such a difficult fixture to start with.

I believe his beard has started knotting with his chest hair, resulting in a bio-mechanical issue when he runs. You heard it here first.

Wow, the best yet. Today's team beats pagans team by ten goals plus. Ridiculous post.

Maybe if you could read Sunshine, That back six was as bad as We have fielded for a long time, on quality and form. The forward was all crumbers and a first gamer and well casboult. Least pagan had fev and betts. The mids were obviously at superior to Pagans lot. So your ten goal dribble is just that.

It was an exciting game but with Kruise dominating I thought we should have been about 5 goals in front by 3/4 time. We weren't - that is always a danger.

Was very happy with Lucas, yes yes missed two tackles by not using his body but I think that can be worked on, the rest was excellent.

In the end the difference I thought was that their kid killed our kid.

Really happy with Rowe, just got going and his third was great.

Malthouse:

"We weren't smart and didn't run hard enough".

"We're getting better and we'll continue to get better"

Yup....

Stop making !@#$%& excuses!

We were playing a team without Ball, Beams, Thomas, Krakouer.

A team that had it's ruckman go down early

A team that was playing b grade types like Elliott, Dwyer, Sinclair, Russell and Seedsman.

And who did we have out?

!@#$%& piss weak!

Are we a good team though ?
We are a lot weaker than some other sides list wise
You over rate our list and your expectations are to high

Then why would you sack Ratten then if you think the list is average? Surely he would then get a pass mark for last year given the injuries?

If we are at a stage where we should rebuild why the !@#$%& are they spending huge dollars a) Paying out Ratten (and Richardson/Williams/Riley) and then b) Spending a mint getting Malthouse across. Surely Malthouse would be hired because the club thinks we are close to success.

Possibly because expectation and reality aren't always synchronised. Excuses take a number of forms and not all of them are to do with what happens on game day.

Lucas was definitely good throughout the whole game. Looks like he belongs.

Exactly. This was the team most likely at this point last year. Now they need to rebuild?

The Pies supporters would be pretty pleased with that win and so they should.

Earlier in the week I thought we'd get done by plenty.

Cold be a very open year this year. If we can improve again next week it will be good.

Maybe you missed the rest of last years dramatic fall?

We never rebuilt our list before Malthouse was appointed, now he is giving those lucky to survive a clean slate, all Ratts players.

Some players are showing the list management team are not making the right calls. Again not MM fault, you can't polish a turd.

This year may just be about (sorry BV) working through a list that needs some working through.

What really bugged me was that we looked like (at worst) losing by 3 points.......but we let them increase that to 17 points....

Stop overreacting

Stop making excuses.

Pathetic performance that they could not take advantage of having Kreuzer ruck against a spud like Q Lynch. A team with Ball/Krakouer/Beams/Thomas missing.

FFS were you watching the same game? You can't fault their application. The fact is that team isn't as good as what you think perriiiioood... They were never out of it except in the last 60 seconds.

Your argument about who they had and who we had out and weighting the effects pound for pound is pointless and irrelevant, it ignores the fact that different teams rely more heavily on CERTAIN players because they're critical to their playing style and structures.. The fact they had Karkour out means SWFA, you certainly couldn't equate their need for Krakeur as being equivalent to our need for Betts.

Look they're not as good as some might think (that goes for the blues and the pies), they only just got over the line and we have players that are simply not good enough. We're to slow in some positions and make to many skill errors. It was 2 specific silly skill errors that got them back in the game (and that was just in the last Q when we had a break on scoreboard)..

I'd say it was time to start blooding some of younger players (problem is except this years crop of draftees and several others ie Macarthy and McnInnes) there doesn't appear to be many more in the well worthy of being pumped through..

Thing I like is that the veil of potentially unexplored talent is being removed, and accepting the truth is no longer hidden behind a veil of untried mystery.

Last week would have been disappointing, this week would stick in the old mans throat like a star picket.

Glad to see he was unhappy with the performance and knows we can do better.

FFS he's 2 games into a 3 year contract. You know as well as I do years of habits don't get changed in 2 games.

Yeah I'd have to agree, pleased he proved me wrong.. Fought hard all day and those panzy little give offs to no one in particular were non existent.. Thought he played a good game.
