The Pies kicked 12 goals from North turnovers. Its their strength. Press up, force the opposition to kick to contests and score on the counter.
Thats why we've performed well against them in the past, we run the ball through the press and switch around it. Combined with our runners beating them into space, its the perfect recipe to beat them.
Lets hope we get the midfield sorted out and play them on our strengths.

They are well primed to gobble up our kicking to contests....could be ugly

What I'd like to see this week:

In: Bell, Out: Joseph (Joseph should never play again. Has no idea and awful under pressure)
In: Laidler (although reports of discipline and bad game in magoos isn't great), Out: Duigan (thought Boots game was better and Boots has more potential)
In: Buckley, Out: McLean (thought McLean was back to his worst against Tigers. Looked appallingly slow)
In: Rowe or Mitchell, Out: Casboult (I don't think Hammer and Casboult can work together. Hammer FINALLY marking very well but still needs to kick straight. Casboult was lost at sea on Thurs. Would like a lead up forward like Rowe or Mitchell. No idea of their NBs form but can't be worse than Casboult!!)

Levi had a shocker in his 8th game. He is our only gorilla forward. At this stage of his career we need to give him 2 or 3 games in a row before making a decision

We need a ruck who has a remote chance of smashing it in the ruck.
Hampson isnt that ruckman... and he isnt the type thats gunna ever be a Carey.

Warnock should come in for Hammer.

I dare say Carey is the only type that's gunna ever be a Carey.

Hampson was our only dangerous marking target last night and you want to drop him?

He was our dangerous marking forward because he was first banana...
He wasnt dangerous at all... what did he kick??... and how many goals did he contribute towards?
How many times did he clear a path for the small guys and how many balls did he bring to ground???
Pressure???

He was terrible....

This is just made up dribble. He was involved in plenty of passages of play that led to shots on goal. Plenty. He cleared a path for the forwards all night. All night. He was out marked once - the rubbish mark they paid to Rance in the last. As a simple example the two snaps Yarran had late in the game were a direct result of Hammo bringing the ball to ground. The second of which resulted from Gibbs kicking to a two on one against Hampson. He spoiled, Jeffy collected and Yarran missed. His marking and contesting opened the game up for us in the second half.

Your focus on him is ridiculous.

Agree Bondiblue. I was under the impression Hampson was far from the issue last night.
In fact I thought he showed plenty.

What kind of plenty did he show exactly???

Watch the game again. Or sit next to someone who understands football and ask them to explain it to you.

Its amazing that McLean plays badly for half a game and people want to drop him. He was easily our best player in the second half of the season last year and even in Thursdays game he was instrumental in getting the Blues back into the contest. IMO ... he would have to play 3 very bad games in a row to drop him. One of our best and most consistent players.

As for Hampson ... I thought he did ok ... certainly would not be dropping him ... 8 marks in the forward line and the ball wasn't delivered that well either. He did enough to warrant more games. Kreuz was also good around the ground. I would leave Casboult there a bit longer. He really responded at the end of last year and needs some time and confidence.

I was not impressed with Joseph ... I thought the MC made a big mistake naming him ahead of Bell.

Assuming Yarran is not suspended ... I suspect the MC will make only 1 change ... Bell for Joseph. IMO Laidler should come back for Duigan but can't see it happening.

We can only hope that the players and the coach have learnt something from their mistakes and we see a more dynamic and winning performance against Collingwood.

Do not let Russell play one of his very rare good games.

That's if he's selected of course.

That article made me cry. I missed all the coverage. hard to fathom how fragile we are sometimes.

Laidler back, lest he lose all his confidence..no doubt he'll fire up in the Ones..
and..hopefully Jiffy, Yaz & Walks kick straight. Hampson is great for grabs..I think he should keep passing it on though, hopefully to Gibbs, Army or Betts.

Wow Synbad's comments take up a lot of room per page in this thread and he even uses the term 'cock-teaser'. BUT after actually reading through it, he is truly competing with my 6 month old for the amount of dribble produced.

Want a cold teething ring?

yeah give it to me... and ill give it right back... i promise.....im not kidding..!!!..

People here excited about a 7 season ruckman... who cant ruck yet... didnt capitalise on the score board. as a forward...made some crucial errors AGAIN!!...and laid not one tackle in a game of footy.....

Were all allowed to see things differently.. but for me to feel encouraged he has to do alot better than that...!!!
