Bugger - only just saw the gathering.

Would have been very interested in attending though wouldnt have been able to make the night as it was anyway. Good initiative and hope it happens again though perhaps at a less busy time of the year!

I must punch into TC.
And it's not about the media going forward.

Also some people have the luxury of working smarter not longer.
But the rest of us must do as they do .

Personally i couldnt be buggered going cos of a few reasons.
Im sure Doc and Co flew the flag.

Geeeez some people.

Whether you like it or not - you're the biggest advocate for change on this forum. I don't think anyone wants to dictate what you do with your time, but if you're passionate enough and want to see some changes made - I'd encourage you to write your thoughts down and send them on in. There's a window of opportunity there with Coutts gone. There are plenty of changes that need to occur. Let's get the ball rolling externally to what we do on here or over dinner.

When a man's right....................

Anyway, the digs are over and we'll all have the ability to attend should another opportunity arise.
We've all shaken hands so let's start f...ing.

Good work Doc

People have things on .. its christmas... maybe if they had bugger all to do.. no friends.. no family... no work... more might go to the pub on a tuesday night a cpl of weeks before xmas???

You're a hard man, I even fronted and I have 5 'billie-lids' at home (and no, thats not the reason I went either  ) - i thought it would be good to hear what they had to say, I walked away in a positive frame of mind

I think its important that we give them a fair dinkun crack at this rather than taking easy pot shots from afar

I am like most and I want our home to be the MCG - but its going to take 60,000 members and we can call this home

You signing up next season mate???

When Luca said 10 TC'ers I imagined that'd be snapped up pretty quickly so I think the turn out was disappointing. The timing wasn't great, but thats not the clubs fault.

For me I had something on that day and was pretty mentally drained and its at least an hours trip home.

Hopefully its either a regular occurance or they open up the lines of communication so people can have their say. There are some passionate people just on these boards so plenty of ideas.

Well done to those TCers who made it.
Thanks for the reports KK and The Doc.
Meeting half way is a good spot to be.
Olive branches are a good thing.

Good onya Doc. You're a bottler.

I am the type who'd get on a plane and get to a gig like this because I am Carlton (pardon the pun)
Lets say I haven't been well this year, but hearing the positiveness is fantastic to the ear.
I can feel the love. Dane to Doc. Synners to Surrey. Me to...for all of the brethren...yes you too Rhino (your input here on TC invaluable imo).

Collectively we will get where we want to be, as long as the Board and their delegates embrace the Carlton family. MCG here we come. 60K is gettable. Its a number. We are Carlton.

It sounds to me that 12 was enough to have a comfortable discussion, and a number which enables paticipation from all those interested enough to attend and give their opinion.

Really means a lot. Zacs allright too.

Happy Christmas to all and Kala Christougena to you Synners.
I'm on my way to Melbourne this weekend for a month...a tad late for the meeting, nevertheless I'll be there for the first training session to see my boy Cachia (The Doc knows I rate him  ).

Shame more fans werent there. I think there was more people from the Club than fans! My reading of what was said about the move to the MCG is not only do we need 60,000 members to move but the AFL are going to buy Etihad and they will need anchor tenants so they could throw a shiteload of $ at the Club to stay- they Club representatives did not say that but why else would you want to stay there?

The 60,000 is an interesting issue as apart for the Pies who's got 60,000? Hawthorn includes a chunk of Tasmanians , Richmond are already a tenant and the Scum have got a great deal at Etihad. We are consistently amongst the biggest draws on TV and attendances and I thought that would give us dome leverage.

Anyway my 2 cents about the meeting is that given its a new team and they are no doubt enthusiastic and keen. Lets see how long it lasts and what gets done. I dont want to sound cynical but the proofs in the eating of the pudding.

With all the pessimism that we too often drown in on TC this thread is disturbingly refreshing...and encouraging.
Nice to see the Doctor get off his arse too ...

Nice Bondi.

Anyway it's quality over quantity and if enough ground was covered by our kind representatives, than all good.

We've tipped our toes in the water and didn't get bitten, so at best guess we'll be better (?) represented next time around.

You may be doing it wrong, Synbad.
Why don't you make the first move?

Email Ruffy that you're sticking your neck out against your better judgement and will sign up this year on blind faith/hope for the changes to take place.
Put the onus back on the CFC.

I moved to Sydney in 1982 and for the best part of 25 plus years was starved of information about football in general - To get anything you would need to get day old Herald suns or week old Inside football magazines .It was a far cry from attending every game every week like i did in Melbourne , it was almost to the point you thought you knew everything about every player. The introduction of the internet has opened up football for us interstaters that once used to crave anything football when we were in Melbourne . The club to their credit in recent times have used social media to give access to information to supporters from all round the globe - It was something that I would have died for back in the 80's
But to be quite honest with you most of it is just fluff - I really couldn't give a hoot who is doing what in the preseason- I don't care if we have 2 members or 200,000 - the way the AFL is set up they will govern who is and who isn't in the competition regardless if your shit successful rich or poor if they see a benifit in you being there you will stay .
I think the focus for a lot of supporters has shifted in recent years and it is part of a generational change everywhere , where you once bought a ticket to the footy that was it. It gave you access to the football. Now we buy a ticket in the form of a membership and all of a sudden supporters want more - they are demanding more and I ask the question why . Membership is a reserved ticket for entry into watching a game , with a few tit bits thrown in . It seems the more the club tries to sell tickets to games ( memberships as they call them) the more supporters whinge and moan that they are not being included.
Me I couldn't really give a toss if we had the worst membership numbers - don't care about the cap and really don't care much as to what goes on the back rooms at board meetings.
But to come on here and constantly bag the club from pillar to post day in and day outsaying you care about the club and it's future and want to see change then get given the chance to go and voice your opinion and not even front is totally piss poor as far as i am concerned .

I want one thing from the club and one thing only - WIN just bloody get out there and WIN
If they Win I will be happy because to be quite honest with you football seasons of the last 10 years have be depressing

Terrific stuff SB.

This taking a stand attitude by not purshasing a membership ticket is a little odd.

The problem is that our club currently has a mindset that if we WIN that will solve our off field problems.

And that is just not the case - Hawthorn proved that by winning nearly everything in for the best part of 20 years (from 71 to early 90s) and then nearly falling over in the mid 90s.

Eddie McGuire took over a moribund club in the late 90s - although he took it to Grand Finals in 2002/2003 - he wasnt just about on-field success in order to fix his club.

On field success (WINNING) is only part of the equation.

If our club thinks that WINNING is the solution to our problems then we are heading down the wrong path.

The only odd part is that the club doesn't bother to chase up lapsed members to find out why they aren't renewing.

winning is a great start though Agro.
I thought it was great post too SB.
I take your points too.

if i think on what has upset me with the club this year..the biggest issues were other people's concerns.
The volunteer situation, and the loyal Gold members being treated poorly, and with mercenary greed it seemed. Not that they shouldn't have progressed with eventually charging more for seats, but they handled it poorly I thought.
I also hated the way it played out with Ratts. Yes, I was in a minority there, but I'm over it.
The other issues, well they were being addressed by some very capable people, and as I don't really use social network stuff, I had felt I needn't go to this particular meeting.
If there is a future meeting, with an agenda of interest to me, and I was able to go, then I would.
I do like seeing these new iniatives. I was hopeful about Ruffy making an effort..but, a bit cynical too.
No more empty words.
Success on field..well who doesn't want that!!!! I can't wait to see how we go in 2013.

success comes when a club does more right than any other cub and needs a wee bit of luck also.

We are not doing many things right compared to other clubs and hoping for a lot of luck....

And thats meant to be the answer???
