I was the one that first suggested it was the Jewish influence that was blocking Fahour

It seemed to me the only reason for it because it didnt make sense for anyone to stop him .

It wouldnt be the first and wont be the last time someone is blocked because of religon .

He is not there yet so lets see what happens

A big part of the Chairman's role at a big bank is to co–ordinate the succession of CEO's and the next Chairman and provide some continuity between CEO's

hats fine you have your opinion .
And i dont disagree or agree with you.

One thing is for sure. Fahour has had the door slammed in his face by the board on more than one occassion.

One of the main reasons was Pratt.

So whether its true or not is a theory... and we both cant prove shit...!!!...

Doesnt mean it cant be thrown up there... because there was no real reason for a guy who was CEO of the NAB to be blocked .. and a bunch of other guys invited on....

So who knows???

Surely you cant say people cant think that might be a possibility???

So is it your opinion that:
(a) it is "a possibility" that Jewish board members stepped in to block Fahour (a Muslim) from joining the board based on some anti- Muslim conspiracy; or
(b) you neither "agree or disgree with me" that Jewish board members did not step in to block Fahour (a Muslim) from joining the board based on some anti- Muslim conspiracy?

Your most recent post on this point is unclear.

If it is point (a) (which, for what is worth, is my opinion on what your opinion is) I can tell you that it is a factually incorrect "opinion" to hold.

Get over yourself!!!

You can believe what you like.. and everybpdy else can suspect what they like.
Doesnt mean youre wrong and others are right.. and doesnt mean youre right and others are wrong.

Ok???

Theyre opinions.!!!... unless we got inside Pratts deceased mind and had a poke around noone will know exactly including you...!!! :screwy:

Just for people who have no idea how footy clubs work.....
Carlton was a very Protestant club and very anti everything else.(Talk to Elliott or Lofts.. they were anti Catholic.. anti Jewish.. anti Orthodox and anti everthing else... unless it was for the good of the footy club...
Some of these barriers may have been broken down over the years... but they can also exist cos its human nature to be [REDACTED]!!!..

He's a bit older than them so maybe you are right.

Seems a bit extreme though. You wouldn't be exaggerating or generalizing or oversimplifying things a little?

Elliot loves and audience.

So the drunken ramblings of a bigoted fool = Pratts blocking Fahour on religious grounds.

Two clear non-religious reasons;

- Fahour is a very abrasive individual with a patchy track record (Don't try to point out Nab as any form of success during his time) who may not be well liked
- Up until 2012 it was arguable that things were on the way up (on field improvements masking a range of other issues)

I choose not to believe that religion could possibly have anything to do with it. I've been wrong before but that's dark ages sort of stuff.

If it was Pratt that blocked Fahour, it is true we can only guess at the motivation.

It is possible that religion was the reason but I think it'd be unlikely.
If it was Pratt, I'd think there are a few more likely reasons. Fahour could have had some enemys that were friends of Pratt. That'd be my most likely scenario.
Or he could have not wanted someone so forthright and powerful sitting on a board where he was President. It seemed that he got his way most times and he ran Visy the same way for decades.

If Fahour was blocked post Pratt, that is worse.

The board are going to have to give up a little more on what Rosa has or hasn't done with this one. At the moment her reputation's in tatters despite not being accused of any dishonest conduct or fraudulent behaviour. I'm sure there are all sorts of legal issues responsible for the wording but it's not a good look for any of them at the moment.

Yep, this is extremely dodgy and there is a lot more to play out.
Not sure anyone on the MLC board is looking too good at the moment.

I don't know if religion played any part in Fahour being blocked but what I do know is this:

When Dick Pratt took over as President, he asked Fahour for assistance with the Clubs debt which was held by NAB...I understand he asked Fahour who was CEO at the time for an interest rate cut or a partial waiver. Fahour was unable to come to the party and Dick spat it big time and pledged to not allow Fahour on the Board whilst he was in charge. The debt was refinanced to Westpac shortly after.

So why things have changed now with Ruffy Germinder and the Pratts supporting Fahour now is the big question.???

Additionally, Fahour may need to look into purchasing a membership should he be really keen on joining the Board as I understand henisin't a member.

The way I read it is that she was asked to explain the overpayment, she can't explain it and therefore she was not entitled to it. She has then been asked to pay it back and she won't or can't do it.
See you later.
In terms of Fahour, I think Italian Blue's reasoning looks the most logical.

Edit

I stand corrected
Ahmed was 'CEO' but was overlooked for the 'Overall Chief Executive' position at NAB

So basically he was blocked from getting the top job

From the NAB website...

Quote:
NAB Executive Director Ahmed Fahour has announced that he will step down from the Principal Board and Group Executive Committee with effect from 20 February 2009.
Mr Fahour joined the NAB in September 2004 as Chief Executive Officer Australia and soon after become an Executive member of the Board.

Well it's obvious isn't it. The problem started when he was head of the NAB and wouldn't give us a rate cut. But now he's head of Aussie Post, he's giving us a discount on stamps do all is forgiven.

I love happy endings. ................
