How would we know? He hasnt had 2 quality ruckmen on his list. The Pies would have played 2 rucks more often if Wood wasnt a 7 foot marshmallow.

True, but they stopped chasing after they got Jolly. They were happy enough with Fraser as an extra, then Brown.

What we should see is:

1) A healthier list, which will provide a much improved results. Regardless of Coach.
2) A game plan that includes kicking the ball around the boundary line with forward press, which is a bit tighter. Similar to Rattens now with a couple tweaks. When it doesnt work, l hope there is a new plan he can come up with.
3) A few players played in different positions and you guys will go wowee.
4) The kids we saw this year will develop more, which is a given under any coach if they have ability.
5) A few players sacked to make way for young talent
6) A lot more crap spoken in the media.
7) No premiership next year, but in two or three years maybe.

Not sure of it's been mentioned But after watching the replay of the Geelong v Sydney game, Mick made a comment that I thought was interesting... Something along the lines of "come finals times, any team will struggle against 3 tall forwards"

Could we see a Levi, Waite, Mitchell forward line or a Levi/Mitchell, Waite, Cloke forward line?

Well, after seeing McCarthy and Mitchell both take strong contested overhead marks last Sunday maybe they could join up with Waite to make up that 3 pronged attack.

I think we need to become a contested footy team which can then get out and spread, not a team that's number 1 game plan is to spread and run. IMHO, that style of footy, while it looks great, and cuts up the lesser teams, doesn't win the big games, or finals.

Look at the top teams - Hawthorn, hard contested footy with precise kicking skills, Adelaide hard inside when they get it right, Sydney hard inside with increasing ability to spread from the contest. Collingwood is interesting, it's gone from hard contested, around the boundary, to a more open flowing style. They still have the ability to play hard contested, but rely more on run. I don't think it's helped them. WC play congested, contested footy, Geelong can play both, and Freo are starting to go that way.

North is the interesting one. They play the way we do, run and carry. I don't think it will win them big finals games. Will be interesting to see if their game plan stands up against the WC press.

Our bodies are not up to it - we lost to North because in the clinches they were harder at it than we were, we probably broke even on the spread/run/carry.

We started to get better against the lesser teams later in the season - when we had Robinson and Bell doing a bit of the "bash & crash" in close.

Agree we need to be better at the "contested" stuff this is where we lost it against Adelaide middle of the season, but I am not sure we have got enough bigger bodied mid-field players to execute this type of game plan (even with Bell & Robinson).

We lost to Norf because of kicking efficiency.
And that they got 7 goals from free kicks to our none.
We beat them in all other aspects.

Yes we are number one at winning at all other aspects except the scoreboard....

Really interesting tonight. Hawthorn weren't able to play their preferred game plan of precise kicking and movement of the ball, due to the pressure Collingwood applied. And yet they were still able to win playing plan B - get it and kick it long, get it and kick it long. Only right at the end were they able to find space. Hawthorn's A game was shut down, but they were still good enough to implement Plan B and win.
