I really hope it is Carrots.
He is Mr Carlton. Loyal in the way Wiggo was..speaks quite well, has a good sense of humor.
Can handle triplets. Perfect.

Murphy for me. He impressed me when he took over from Judd. He is ambitious, driven and passionate.

Has Judd actually said he's definitely giving up his captaincy yet?

http://www.foxsports.com.au/afl/afl-pre ... 6531026284

While I've nominated Murph as a preferred candidate, nobody could complain if Carrots of Simmo got the nod.

If nothing else, compare our excellent choice of suitable captains now compared to when Judd first arrived and got the gig out of embarrassment.

Anyone still got that article from about circa 2004 from Robert Walls discussing the plethora of leadership options available?

I think from memory his options included Darren Hulme, SOS or Braddles coming out of retirement and possibly a recently retired Brisbane Lions player?

Interesting reading everyone’s views if the captaincy is to be changed.

So what would we be looking for in a new captain?

We want a leader of men

Someone who sets the right example on and off the field

Someone who represents the vision

A man manager

Someone who can manage the coach

In my experience in the business field the best leaders are often not those who are the most skilled or talented, tend to be self effacing and can be relied upon almost all the time in most situations.

One of the best captains I have seen in football is Tom Harley, and think about the options that were available to Geelong when he was chosen.

My vote would be Jeremy Laidler... it would be a fresh start and he just seems (to me anyway) to fit the mould.

Beware we reward loyalty with captaincy, it is a potential recipe for disaster.

Carrazzo has been through it all. 2 clubs, battling up from a rookie spot, was the regular whipping boy before Russell was handed that mantra, and now is one of the best players in the competition, and crucial to the Carlton team some 150-odd games later. He's played as a tagger, a small defender, an inside midfielder, an outside midfielder, defensive tagging.

All this from a bloke who's name is/was said with a profanity adjective.

Just goes to show what a heck of a lot of dedication and hard work can do.

There's many players who could look at Andrew Carrazzo's career to date and use that as the yardstick. Not everyone is born with Chris Judd talent and skill, but you can make yourself into the type of player who is missed when you are unavailable for selection.

It also goes to show that supporters need to give players time to mature as AFL footballers.

Wonder if Superstar Chris Judd sought advice from Three Time Brownlow Medalist Bobby Skilton on the matter..

Yeah that's right we overlooked him.

IMO a coaching career awaits A. Carazzo.

Stepping down as Captain is one thing but not being in the leadership group leaves me feeling a bit suspicious.

It doesn't matter if he is or isn't part of the leadership group. The simple ability for kids to learn from the way he trains and plays is enough.

Let the next generation do all the fluffy stuff that Judd is probably sick off.

Has GS advised him that we can’t fit his third party deal in the cap? Gee he’s taking it hard
