Thursday night's game now is season defining.
Win this and we are still in the hunt for top 4.
Lose this and for mine it's curtains. Unfortunately, it really is that simple now.
Feel for Ratts but I think he's up against it. We should have never been in this situation.
For what it's worth - I thought we did show Friday night we haven't completely dropped our bundle and had we nailed the first quarter goals - Garlett, Judd & Collins - we would be back in the hunt now.

Ratts isn't worried about the eight, it's all about effort. Top 4 was a pipe dream, we all thought we heard the club state this, it was actually we would be happy if we beat the bottom 4.

Let me spell it out to you - Ratten needs to make top 4 this year or his is gone!!!!! Nothing has changed since the start of the season, no matter what you think or think you hear in the media or think is said by the club. If we miss out on the 8 - then he might even be gone before season's end!
I think Ratten will turn this around and maybe get us finishing 6th but he will then need a good finals campaign to keep the job from there.

I cant see us possibly making the 8 now, we are now out and have to rely on teams above us losing and us winning the majority of our remaining games.
Sad thing is, i dont think the club will do anything, just use injuries as an excuse. While injuries havent helped we should not be dropping games against teams such as Port. I think the club will stick with Ratten and will waste another year.
I think the Crows are sure things this year, have the softest draw of all time and will get home finals.

This weeks game is so crucial it's not funny. We cannot afford to lose this game. Our season is on the line on Thursday.
Not over until the end of Thursday night, if we lose.

Agree, the old 8 point game for sure. Lets see what this team is made of.

We play 6 teams currently in the 8 plus teams like Richmond, North Melb and the Bulldogs.

If we make the 8 we will have earned it.

How can we make the 8 with 8 wins?

I have us with minimum 12 wins, maximum 16.

So as long as we are 13 or more we will probably get in the finals.

16 puts us top 4, possibly 3rd.

Unfortunately all the ladder predictor scenarios I did have us traveling to Perth or possibly Perth- Melb- Adelaide-Melb.

The good news is that if we finish 8th (13 wins) we could possibly get WCE (perth) Hawks (melb) and Adelaide (AAMi) before playing Collingwood in the GF.

gunna win.

With Hawthorn & Collingwood next,

going on current form we will probably lose these next 2 games and then play
Nth Melb.

Lose against Nth Melb and we can kiss making finals goodbye.

And should probably kiss Ratten goodbye aswell !!!!!!!

We won't make the finals. I'm not sure how we can win another 6-7 games. Even with some of our better players coming back from injury. They're only going to half-fit anyway. And the team has lost most of its cohesion, system and belief. Dead man walking.

With Freo, Rich and St K falling over recently, it looks like 12 wins could snatch 8th spot (whereas a few weeks ago, it looked like you'd need 13).

That means that assuming we lose to Collingwood and Hawthorn, we'll need to win 6 of our last 8 to get in.

We'd need to win ALL the games we are supposed to win (which we haven't been able to do for years, even last year we lost to Dogs and St K), plus 2 of Ess, Rich, Syd and St K.

Might come down to the last game against St K. Incidentally, that last round is a doozie...as much as the fixture is a farce, they certainly got Round 23 right this year...

Carl v St K
Ess v Coll
Haw v WC
Geel v Syd
