New coach. Best knee jerk reaction by the talking carlton brainstrust.

Ok Carlton have lost 3 games this season.

Loss #1 - Essendon*.
Essendon* at the time looked like pretenders, but they are surely contenders this year. They have only lost one game this season by 1 pt to collingwood. 3rd on the ladder at the moment

Loss #2 - St Kilda
Up until yesterday week they were in the top 8, now sitting 9th. They are a respectable team. They came out and smashed us and tagged murphy out of the game and no one else stood up. They really smashed our midfield.

Loss #3 - Adelaide
Currently sitting 2nd on the ladder. Smashed Geelong last week and smashed Carlton yesterday. Adelaide put immense pressure on Carlton and made Carlton look bad, by forcing Carlton to make mistakes. Carlton were suffocated and never recovered.

So in summary, we have 3 losses, 2losses to the two best teams in the league at present and 1 loss to a team that was in the 8 last week.

So based on that, we should throw out the coach and start a new gameplan next season. Makes sense doesn't it. :banghead:

Carlton need a key forward to be alongside Waite. Until we do that, we won't have a complete spine.

The voice of reason!! Thanks...

It's not unacceptable to lose to Adelaide. They are a very good team.
But the total capitulation against Essendon* and Adelaide and an uncompetitive showing against the Saints is completely unacceptable.
Not sure if you saw the GWS game but that wasn't our players being complacent. It was GWS being physical and our players unable to shake those shackles, from a team of kids and rejects.

Sounds like a classic from 'The Archies' to me....

i respectful disagree about the giants game

we knew we had it won

our skills were atrocious and we just took it easy

then switched it on in the last quarter

alone thats fine but our last month ... yuck

They beat us in contested footy, clearances.
We were 9 goals to 6 at 3/4 time with Brogan and O'Halpin off injured. We had no answer to Power and McDonald. 1 was delisted 2 years ago by the worst team in the AFL and the other was flicked by Vossy and his amazing lions last year.

Coaches are responsible for bringing the best out of players - this simply isn't happening. Kreuzer & Gibbs should have assisted Judd taking that grame by the scruff.

We were supposed to be the best team in the league

We were the premiership favourites

You know we haven't beaten a top 4 team since fevola was at the club? I don't think we could be a premiership flag favourite with 1 key forward. I don't remember any teams winning a flag with only 1 key forward

Most teams have 2.
Geelong - Pods/Dawks
Hawks - Buddy/Rough/Rioli
Pies - Cloke / Dawes
Adel - Tippett / Walker
Ess - Crameri/Ryder/Hurley.
Carlton - Waite / ?

Its the personnel. With Waite out, theres a massive hole with no KPP in the forward line. We needed to get a KPP forward in preseason and didnt get it. No trades done at all.

Would like to think it's Waite/Hendo..with Jamo, Bower & Laidler in the back half.

Cyril Rioli as a key position forward? Are you kidding me?

Quality contribution...

Isn't it obvious he cited Franklin and Roughead as the KPP's?....and added Rioli for good measure?

No, I wouldn't call it obvious.

Especially when by comparison, he left out Betts and Garlett.

Our forwards last year were shizen. TBird and Setanta were our key forwards when Waite was out. Hasn't improved this year but waite is playing at the moment, except for the weekend.

We were smashed in the midfield, but with only one key forward, the delivering isn't fast and clean to the forwardline, which is why a lot of times Carlton are kicking the ball into the forward line with 18 of the opposition players in there. As we are too slow to move it quick. With only one key forward, you can never take many contested marks.

Interesting that our poor form has been since we lost Carrazzo, we haven't shut down any opposition midfielders since.

Geez, my bad then. :$

As a heads up, can you point out how you and the other 99.9% knew that he threw in Rioli as "good measure"? I mean, he didn't put him in there any differently to the other names listed or anything like that?

By your stats, there are another 2.5 people on the site that may also benefit from this. Cheers mate...
