Who know's, all I know is my excitement got the better of me this morning and I've bought an interstate 5 game membership and a Club 17 membership just in case.

Looks like i'll have to make a saving or two here and there.

Anyone know a good recepie for gruel.

Not sure anyone is writing off Henderson Bondi. A few of the bronx cheer gang maybe but not many here.
He is going to be a star. He was on a good defender this week. One that gave Waite a hard time last time. I reckon he will be the perfect CHF.
If he wants CHF he can show us he is better than Walker and Waite in that position.

I am more worried about keeping the mix/balance right so we give ourselves the chance to do the things we do well for as long as possible in games.

I understand where the Bronx are coming from. For me, theres only one other player in the team who frustrates me more. Big Irish!

Only because i know the potential Hendo has, and that hes taking a while to find it. People say "hes a first round draft pick", then why isn't he playing like it? I rate the kid, but he frustrates the hell outta me! lol

And as for Setanta, ive never liked him, and shudder every time he gets the ball.

CHF is not like playing ruck.

The curious thing about the teams Mikey put up OTC last night was Warnock and Brown both on the bench. Not sure which competition he's watching but teams are playing their 2nd ruck through the forwardline this year, not the bench.

Thats the reason we're talking about whether we can include both Waite and Henderson in the forwardline.

Yep, I agree TBB.

That's the conundrum.

Despite Ratts quoted saying that we can fit Kruzer, Waite, Henserson and Walker in the forwardline, it is still worth debating.
We need some debate to absorb the excitement this Carlton revival is giving us.
We need a reserves team wearing the Dark Navy Blue jumper to discuss too. You know, 2 Carlton teams in the finals like the old days.

Henda got subbed off with a couple of mins left in the third and thornton didnt play in round 4. Collins was embarrassed and didnt want to go on at the end but did. It was a discussion point at the time. Perhaps that is what you have mixed up.

I saw the team Healy put up and he had henda waite and walker all named in the forward line but he didnt have second ruck in there or named anywhere for that matter.
Maybe train henda up as second ruck and the issue is sorted ?

I reckon walker will suffer being asked to play another role. He hasnt put a foot wrong with his current role. We also have to move someone out of the forward line to fit henda, second ruck and Waite in. Garlett? Betts? defensive forward? or judd when he is taking a breath. Rotation gone. Tired players in the last. Less pressure.

Cant see it working.

Put henda on a crash course of how to play backline in the blues system. If thornton fails and he is a better option than bower i am all for giving him a go there. I have nothing against Henda.
Reckon he will be a star.

I think we saw a fair bit of what Walker will be doing in the future on Sunday. Leading up hard and running back hard and fast with the ball or running into holes created by forwards comming out.

Hendo having two people on him during the game is allieviated with Waites inclusion. Hendo possibly leading out from the square.

It's all very exciting and most importantly all very FAST. Walker, Waite, Hendo, Jeffy, Eddie. That's a very scary proposition if the opposition clubs have to go man on man.

I really don't think the MC want to be in a position where either Walker, Waite or Henderson have to go down back for long periods because it means something isn't working.

I firmly believe they want either White, Austin, Bower etc to take on the second tall.

I agree that is a good forward line but that means Hendo is second ruck. THe line up you suggest + second ruck puts our team out of balance and compromises the press working for as long as possible. We lose a rotation. That is killer.

He's onl given you 5 names there club...you can fill the other gap with Kreuzer if you like.

It is tough to fit them all in....geez its exciting discussing our team's prospects with opposition supporters...no matter how scared or sick of it they are. Stick it right up 'em I say. It's our turn for another Carlton era.

Thanks BG

If you see me at the GF I'll be earing my circa 1979 long sleeve Carlton jumper with the vinyl CFC logo on the front and the number 25 (the two is half off) on the back.

I haven't been able to get into it since 1984.

Flexibility, Waite and Henderson can play both ends, that's an ace in the pack we can play in September if needed. Add Carlos instead of Warnock/Hampson and we continue the theme of flexibility and run.

I was actually thinking on the way home tonight how fun and exciting this team is to watch. Makes a huge change from the dour football we were served up in the AFL in the mid-00's.

I'm going to mention three players.

Chris Yarran
Everyone understood the move to get him to half-back to provide good delivery and some speed out of the back half. This kid is starting to revolutionise the way a half-back plays football with his willingness to run lines, take the opposition on and smack someone on the chest with a pass. Now he's adding another trick to his bag by handballing in front of himself to get around opponants.

Jeff Garlett
This kid just wants to run and kick goals. He also has a willingness to take the opposition on. I may be wrong, but Im sure I've seen him handball in front of himself to get around an opponant, it just didnt come off like it did for Yarran. A great example of how exciting he can be was the play v Brisbane when he was on the HFF, Joel Patfull about 5m in front of him, no one to kick to so Jeffy decides just to run around him. It didn't come off, but great confidence and thought process.

Mitch Robinson
Crowd favourite. His attack on the ball and opposition is also ground breaking. We've all seen players who had an appetite for physicality, but Mitch is relentless at the moment. After another lunging, suicidal tackle on Sunday you could hear the crowd applaud. Keep it up because he's the kind of guy who will be encouraged by the attention.

Andrew Walker
Yeah I know I said three, but special mention to Tex for sticking with it and for his work rate. I've said a few times I went to training for Gibbs first session and an injured Andrew Walker took my attention running laps. He literally lapped the other guys on the injury group and was absolutely spent when he finally stopped. That was without a coach, any fitness staff or teammate pushing him along. This is finally paying off and his ability to lead up onto the wing and then double back will stand him in good stead.

Good times ahead

Warnock for Hammer will be the one definite.

Waite, Laidler, Bower will be pushing for spots but who goes out? Glad it's not my decision.

Those pushing for Touhy or Henderson to go out just don't understand the importance of them filling particular roles in our best side.

Good one TBB.

I expect your summary of the next three bplayers just as scintillating.

How about ...Kreuzer, Jamison, Murphy? Next train ride perhaps.

Good one Psych.

It's only the half way mark and we're just getting players back. Some fatigue will set in for Kreuzer the way he goes about it. It happens. As long as the most important players are primed for the finals.
In Cordy we trust. He had them ready for last years finals. Bad kicking for goal cost us.

My interpretation of Ratts point about Waite's health was that he may miss this weekend against the Eagles.

I really hope he's available.
WCE are the sort of team we can play a few more talls than usual and still have plenty of class and legspeed in the midfield, and lucky for us on the flanks too. A bit early for Laidler?

Touhy's fine imo. He's not costing us which is a bonus...unless the MC think Armfield or Lucas or a better prospect.

Still 12 weeks before the finals.

I'm a big fan of Tuohy and nobody really deserves to go; but his quieter game on the weekend (compared to the previous week) combined with his inexperience at AFL level would probably have him at the top of the queue to be dropped - it's just the way these things often work. Further, while overall he's been impressive, it is premature to suggest that he's in our best side. We also have several players at the moment that can play the same role in the side. So we need to be realistic.

Curnow has been quieter in terms of possessions since returning from injury but he's laid 15 tackles over the past two weeks and Ratten would love that.

Houlihan is a possibility to go but this would make Sunday's appearance as a substitute virtually pointless, so one would think he might get a full game this week.

Ellard was quiet on the weekend (six possessions) even before getting injured but did kick two goals and like Curnow has laid 15 tackles over the past two weeks and would be really stiff to miss out.

Waite is an automatic in but I get the feeling he'll miss another week just to be extra safe, which would probably guarantee Henderson's spot for at least one more week.

I'd love to give a rundown on every player, but was really highlighting the amazing things those 4 players do rather than the consistent performances of the others.
