It is tough to fit them all in....geez its exciting discussing our team's prospects with opposition supporters...no matter how scared or sick of it they are. Stick it right up 'em I say. It's our turn for another Carlton era.
I was actually thinking on the way home tonight how fun and exciting this team is to watch. Makes a huge change from the dour football we were served up in the AFL in the mid-00's.
I'm going to mention three players.
Chris Yarran
Everyone understood the move to get him to half-back to provide good delivery and some speed out of the back half. This kid is starting to revolutionise the way a half-back plays football with his willingness to run lines, take the opposition on and smack someone on the chest with a pass. Now he's adding another trick to his bag by handballing in front of himself to get around opponants.
Jeff Garlett
This kid just wants to run and kick goals. He also has a willingness to take the opposition on. I may be wrong, but Im sure I've seen him handball in front of himself to get around an opponant, it just didnt come off like it did for Yarran. A great example of how exciting he can be was the play v Brisbane when he was on the HFF, Joel Patfull about 5m in front of him, no one to kick to so Jeffy decides just to run around him. It didn't come off, but great confidence and thought process.
Mitch Robinson
Crowd favourite. His attack on the ball and opposition is also ground breaking. We've all seen players who had an appetite for physicality, but Mitch is relentless at the moment. After another lunging, suicidal tackle on Sunday you could hear the crowd applaud. Keep it up because he's the kind of guy who will be encouraged by the attention.
Andrew Walker
Yeah I know I said three, but special mention to Tex for sticking with it and for his work rate. I've said a few times I went to training for Gibbs first session and an injured Andrew Walker took my attention running laps. He literally lapped the other guys on the injury group and was absolutely spent when he finally stopped. That was without a coach, any fitness staff or teammate pushing him along. This is finally paying off and his ability to lead up onto the wing and then double back will stand him in good stead.
Good times ahead
