So you're complaining about the match committee having the "same scapegoats" (who funnily enough are probably the players ranked roughly between 18-26 on our list, fancy them being in and out of the team) but you've just named your own 4 scapegoats 3 days before the match is even played.

The 4 "scapegoats" I named are in reference to the last 5 pages of people essentially trying to bignote their own selection views/prejudices toward certain players on the list that they call to be dropped at every opportunity, rather than what I would like to see happen.

Posting what I think the match committee should do, based on my large AFL career spanning 0 games is a tad facetious, but instead attempt to look at the possibilities of which direction the MC will go in. FWIW, I'm a big Robinson and Armfield fan, Hampson too when team balance allows.

As for calling Chris Johnson being dropped a PR related omission...

There were several games over the past two seasons where Johnson was dropped from the senior team for reasons unrelated to his own form, but rather not wanting to drop other players on name value. His delisting came about because he was a complete FIGJAM and could never do enough in the Bullants to force his way back in.

I guess everyone's entitled to their opinion, now matter how dumb it is.

Of course they are...

You're still here.

I know its the ol' one week at a time blah and I certainly wouldn't like it, but happy for an honourable loss here if it meant that the boys didn't get exhausted for the following week's trek with Essendon*. Now thats a match I would seriously hate to lose.

Re: Round 4, we get 2 extra day's break than Essendon* who will have a crunch game against St Kilda who are yet to get off the mark (a draw doesn't count imho).

Both the Saints and Dons have points to prove, as we do against Collingwood.

I know I'd rather go all out against the Pies and know we have 8 sleeps to recover versus 6.

duigan laidler curnow are better than ellard joseph and one or two others out of the side. Far better decision makers and ball disposers

That is purely speculation on your part - Johnson was in and out of the team because he was a pretty ordinary AFL footballer, as witnessed by anyone who saw him play.

On the topic of PR related omissions, there would be plenty of supporters who would see it as good PR to drop a name player if they weren't performing, therefore signalling that places are to be earned on merit not name.

As a whole, a very ordinary footballer, but there were games when he did get dropped after some fairly decent performances by his "lofty" standards

When I refer to the PR aspect of it, I refer to it as being staged, almost meticulous in its timing (i.e. after an Essendon* loss), placating the masses, rather than picking the best 22. "Yeah, we'll drop Stevens/Waite/Thornton/Scotland this week....it was Essendon*....doesn't matter if they make the same mistakes if we play, say...North or Port Adelaide.

I agree no spot should be a guaranteed one, but why wait until it becomes an opportunity for Ian Coutts to do some work, rather than the selection committee week in/week out?

Funny you say that.. I can imagine us beating the pies, then going down to the bombers.

The logic from the scum supporters would then be: blues > pies... and bombers > blues... therefore bombers > the world.

That would really suck.

duigan has played two games!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! give him a go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :banghead:
hard at the ball, unlike a lot of others.
in; jamison, lucas/collins and henderson.
out; white, armfield and thornton.

laidler jamison duigan
yarran watson russell
simpson gibbs scotland
gartlett waite curnow
walker henderson betts

warnock judd murphy

hampson robinson carrazzo
sub, lucas/collins

-thornton bit stiff, but ''i'' prefer henderson, and he played well on the weekend.
-watson and jamison to hopefully keep dawes and cloke quiet.
-need to stop shaw, harry O and maxwell running free, and setting up the play off half back.

Well if that is the case then Kade Simpson must be coming under mounting pressure to hold his spot in the side. Simpson has been very ordinary in the opening two games of the season and needs to lift against Collingwood.

IN: Jamo
OUT: White
We need our best full back out there and White although he has tried hard will make way. Dawes will be a very hard task for Jamo anyway!

IN: Bower (if fit)
Out: Watson
We need Bower on Cloke, however if not fit keep Watson/White in the team and use Laidler as the third man in. Watson may get killed by Cloke by leg speed and any one-on-ones, however I loved his kicking on the weekend (would almost keep him in just for that against the pies press) and when this kid gets stronger he will be a gem.

IN: Hendo
OUT: Thornton
Thornton just isn't that good and did what he liked on Saturday because we were playing a pack of kids. Although he kicked 4 he still wasn't that great. Guaranteed if Thornton plays this week he will get dropped for the Bombers clash, so why not just axe him now and put Hendo where he deserves to be! Grow some balls Ratts and axe him...

Welcome back spine!

whats with the numerous calls for armfield to make way?

The kid is a gem, and very tough!
Very quick!
Uses the ball well!
Great tackler!
And most of all is in good form, discounting the sub game against the suns! IMO they were keeping Dennis fresh for a big 1 this week

I know that.

I thought it was a great tactic by Ratts to have your fastest line breaker (SUB) on in the 2nd half when the other players tire.
But as it turned out, it was over against the Suns in the 1st.

Armfield is a keeper.
And against the Collingwood juggernaut, he one player who can stand up and say he's taken on Collingwood in the last couple of seasons when others had wiltered.
We need Armfield fit this weekend.

I have a feeling our mids are going to carve them up. CARLTON by 14 points.

Hammer and Warnock have a huge role to play.
Simpson and Carrazzo have got to wake up from their slumber.

It's game on. This is the big one for me.
Gotta beat these 'smug' pricks.

I've had 3 bets since last year.

Bet 1 ... Judd to win brownlow ...Won $500
Bet 2 ... Grand Final Draw ... Won $600
Bet 3 ... Badely win in the golf ... Won 600.

What a boaster ... sorry can't help it.

Now ... I am telling you ... We are gunna win this one.

Not sure about all that, but Joseph's days are numbered. In fact, unless there are a few injuries this year, he may not play a senior game.

:smoking: Like your style BR. You really backed Badders   :?:

Will be our best win in ages if we can pull it off. I've picked us for top 4 this year, so this will be a fair indicator (esp without Kreuz and probably one of Bower/Hendo).
