Rest Jamo and build the defence around Watson with the eye to round 1.

I think with Brock missing again and Ellard out, Curnow may sneak into the team come Round 1 if he plays well this week.

Little surprised that Thornton isn't playing for that reason.

Alternatively, perhaps they're just being cautious with Thornton, not wanting to risk him getting injured before Round 1 given that we are already without Jamison.

He's barely played in defence all pre-season, so I doubt we're going to use him now.

But he has played 161 AFL games as a defender and although we frown upon some aspects of his game, he can do a job down back. It's nothing new to him. Besides, someone has to replace Jamison and I can't see it being Setanta (injured) or Watson (inexperience). Thornton seems the obvious choice to play down back.

Yep, they're gonna be behind the eight ball early doors.

The Carlton Twitter will keep the updates ticking over.

... They do. I used it last week when at work and when we played GWS. Without it I'd not have been able to follow the match at all.

For people having issues with Twitter, your best bet is to create an account, then get a third party application to update your feed as they pull down tweets via RSS or through a server, which is under less load generally.

I personally use Tweetdeck and it's available on all phone and PC platforms IIRC.

I also have the iphone twitter app...

Works really well for these practice matches. Sure, people could provide more detail, but is a great step in the right direction.

Recommend it to anybody wanting scores updates etc...

You can also try searching the game's hashtag if there is one just by clicking on it (eg #bluescats) to see updates from non-club people who are tweeting and using the hashtag.
