Its pretty simple.

Just bloody win.

Go in hard, stop playing the way the opposition wants you to play.
Stop playing all your players in the forwards opposition forward line.

Leave 3 - 4 players in your forward line. It opens the game up. Playing all your players in one half of the game played in the pies hands.

Drop the following please:
Hampson - Waste of space.
Fisher - Play him in the goal square or no where else/replace with setanta.
Russell - Stupid decisions cost us atleast 2 goals on weekend. Not good enough. Play him on a wing/away from backline. Does not have a footy brain and never will. Needs to be dropped.
Yarran - Was to soft, classy player, but didn't put his body on the line when he had to.

Bring in Setanta, mitch, Jacobs, Thornton.

Need some experience in the backline. Got none last week. Believe it or not, our backline always seems more stable when thornton plays, even if he makes a couple errors. Never seen the backline as bad as it has been in the last few weeks.

Joseph needs to be put on a midfield tag, not backline tag.

I think Joseph needs to become a midfielder. No tag.

I think Joseph needs to be dropped. I like him, but he's hardly played a good game this season.

Not sure why anyone is asking for a win here? All that does is make Ratten safe, The players spot safe, and thousands of supporters happy for 1 week? Maybe 2 unless Richmond decide to return the humiliation when it counts most for us?

Look at the teams who sit in the top 4, and go through their list and look at their important players and revisit their young days and the amount of times they were sent back to the 2s and taught discipline.

Number 1 draft picks or not. The first to be dropped OR play him permanently in the middle is Gibbs, you've all got rocks in your heads if you think Gibbs has been the same since signing his contract, he's become a selfish young spoilt brat who thinks his status means he has a cemented position is this team and doesn't need to get his hands dirty. Send him to the bullants and teach this kid some discipline and make a stance, NO ONE BUT JUDD has a cemented position in the team.

You're only as good as your weakest link, currently Gibbs is following the suits of those weak links around him and his attitude on the field is showing that. Send him to the 2s and bring him back against Geelong. (Replacement: Robinson)

2nd. Aaron Joesph, does MC still praise his efforts against ablett almost 2yrs ago? Someone tell me what he has achieved since besides the odd 10meters dash from defense which results in a turnover due to his poor decision? (Replacement: Johnson in his position and bring Houlihan back)

3rd. Andrew Carazzo, Spends to much time worrying about his solarium tan and the way he looks. Again, rocks in your heads if you think Andrew Carazzo can help take this club to a premiership. His obviously only good at a shutdown roll which can't be used as a credential for AFL.(Replacement: Walker in his position and throw Thornton back in to defense. Which returns the Jamieson, Bower, Thornton trio back together)

4th. Now here's my favorite, IMMEDIATELY remove Fisher. I'm wasting my energy typing about this 2004 round 6 pick number 72 overall VFL player. (Replacement: ANYONE, REALLY.. EVEN BRING CAMERON CLOKE BACK.)

This club has lacked discipline, Only pre-season training cancellation on a rainy day confirmed to me that this club is being run by a group of mates who are weak and are missing accountability for their actions.

I don't know about anyone but I've put up with 8 years of watching this club rebuild and paid my way through and have never been as disgusted and frustrated as I was on Saturday afternoon.

I don't know how ANYONE can say this weekend needs to be a must win when all a win will do is make you smile and forget how disgusted you were a week before. NORTHMELBOURNE was the MUST WIN when we were sitting at 7 and 4.

Why must we all sit here week after week again and again and point at what our club should do? We aren't employed to make the OBVIOUS choices for those who are employed and paid BIG MONEY to do so. I don't know how anyone can goto the MCG this friday night or for the rest of the year and be proud of a winning result IF we do win? A loss will only better the chances of a full board review and the removal of these 'bunch of mates' sitting in the coaches boxs'

As for Kernahan, if he wants to run a business with his mates as his managers, then he needs to go buy himself a pub and do it there, not at CFC.

Good point. I wouldnt mind if we lost every remaining game this year...at least that will put attention on us and make heads roll...meaning something will actually be done to fix the problem which will hold us in good stead in years to come.

oh and could someone with any connection inside the club please tell them that if this week we could actually man up in our forward line and have it man-on-man we might actually give our forwards a chance? Thanks.

I concur with most of the peoples feelings of the last 8 weeks or so has been dissapointing to watch to say the least even the wins have looked average and you look uncorfortable as you know we havent played well for the win.

One thing i believe has been charateristic of a lot of the last 8 weeks has been that we have played negative football all the talk on the day is who are we going to stop on the opposition side instead of valuing our own players to create and be stopped. We won against sides like the saints and cats purely as we went with a positive matchup and let our playmakers cause our opposition problems rather than us worrying about there players.

everythng has been said before in various forms but we need to tell Murphy gibbs simpson to run rampant we know Judd will cop some attention but we need our playmakers to create havoc so the bombers have to worry about us and not us about them.

Ellards best position is in the guts can go head to head with Jobe

Tell the runners (both directions) to run and create Simpson, Murphy, Gibbs, Scotland even carrots

All i want to see is that Blues create problems for the Bombers and not us being reactive with there players during the course of the match which tends to be how we have been in most of the last 8 matches.

Ins: Armfield and Houla if fit / Outs - Fisher and Johnson / AJ

Anyway loose this game and its game over for the year this has to be out line in the sand even though this should have all come after the Hawks thats the past now so ideally this game tells us we wwill play out the year with heart, pride and new belief or just drop out of 2010 as a totally wasted year

Dude, only a alien source could confirm that for you, because the way I see it, I don't think Ratten watches the game we all watch. Cause my little brother who's 11yrs old said to me "Isn't Harry O'brien to big for Betts" now if a kid notices such an obvious mismatch, then i'm not sure where your answers are going to come from!

Spot on! But this then puts the spot-light on the game plan which obviously starting from the kick outs is nothing BUT problems.

All I want is Ratten to finally realise that YOU CAN KICK THE BALL IN EVEN BEFORE THE GOAL UMPIRE WAVES THE FLAG!
Gosh it's so frustrating to watch the likes of Richmond and West Coast move the ball so quickly out of defensive but then obviously struggle from that point.

We have an A grade midfield, with a lightening forward line yet a defense which wants to be cute and pin point out. MOVE THE BALL QUICK TO THE 50M ARC THEN HOLD IT UP.

IDeally change up the positions abit to

IE line up

Russell Jamison Armfield
Grigg Bower Scotland
Gibbs Ellard Simpson
Houla Waite Walker
Betts Hampson Yarran

Followers - Warnock Judd Murphy

Bench Henderson garlett carrots Chris johnson / AJ

Outs Fisher + AJ / Johnson
Ins Houla + Armfield

Balance is that the Midfield

Midfield
has Ellard in the Guts to tacle and extract, Judd wil be Judd and running fleet of Murphy, Gibbs, Simpson, Carrots running and creating

Forward line
Good balance with Hampson / Hendo rotated at Full forward / Waite at CHf rotating crumbers in Betts, Yarran and Gralett. And with Walker and Houla Half forward line

Backline
also more balanced with Jamison / Bower in the spine - Russell and Armfield to run and carry and link with Scotland and Grigg

Hendo and AJ / Chris johnson to be used in forward / back or AJ maybe to tag out stanton

Anyway we got to beat these pricks who have had the wood over us and then hopefully carry the same intensity to the remainder of the season

Line in the sand game for 2010

bring in: Hoops, Carlos, Davies, Thornton

Drop: fish, joseph, garlett, johnson

Need to play Seatanta

only one to have kicked goals as a ff
played in every game we've won
one of few to show a bit of heart when he plays (although it seems like when he was showing a bit of agro people in the club wanted him to cool it)

bring in some new blood for a start...why can't we bring in first gamers who have confidence like pies dogs dockers ecetera
fisher sorry mate... atleast i see the argument with wiggins he actually bleeds navy blue and warrrants a game on attitude alone

anyway blood davies or thuoy

play waite and ohailpin forward rest warnock and play houli and maybe a gibbs or russell fwd
why not play hendersen back? havent we been crying out for a key position (other than jamo) backman? and he aint kicking many goals fwd...

keep playing hampson

yarran tried in backline

garlett few games in 2's then make him earn senior list spot

anyways thtas what i rceekon atfer a few berrss@!!

Who else got a not-so inspiring email from Sticks today to ask a pretty bland series of questions about marketing for 2011? I tried my best to remain positive and not use it to vent.....

I'm going Friday night. I have to support my club. It's coming from deep down somewhere. Gotta support those boys, and see what they've got.

I couldn't sleep last night and found Carlton vs Melbourne 2000 qualifying final on footy flashbacks. In passing they mentioned Carlton had led the tackle count that year and were doing it again that game....imagine that in 2010.....Parkin was still there and I reckon if you were a player you would've never have dared to do anything less than all you could do. We had tough nuts: Hickmott, RATTS, Brown, Hulme, Francina did a job on the Brownlow medalist Woewodin, Manten, Hamill, even Camporeale looked tough back then. Now? I'm going Friday and seeing who will even just try to stand up.

I don't expect too much of the players because I see a team confused, and not single-minded of purpose. The forward line looks confused (it's Round 19 FFS!), and yes I can't believe I agree with others but we need the steadying influence of Thornton in an othwerwise nervous backline. I can understand a longer-term focus is going on, games into them etc., but give them good, simple, worklable plans (see Hardwick and Tigers). Things change week by week too much.

Geez I hate the Bombers; been to too many defeats lately at their hands. In a loss the only silver lining is that you see Bombers fans get inflated again about their average side and the average coach gets another reprieve. I pray we won't be accused of the same Friday night.

Hey, heres an effing radical offering for the MC

Why not try a few things that have actually WORKED in the past.
Play Betts in the midfield more, god knows we need some help there.
Play Waite forward, watch that StKilda first quarter again.
Be pro active not perenially reactive.

So many on here calling to drop this soft cock, delist this hack, bring in
this supposed hard nut.....the MOST IMPORTANT CHANGE must be inside
the 22 players heads wearing navy blue jumpers.
Pure and simple.

Thats why this weeks game will probably decide Ratten's fate and i reckon
he bloody well knows it too. The jungle drums are getting a bit irresistible.
Kick another 2 goals in the first half again with all those friday night theatre
goers along with most AFL watchers watching and the heat on CFC will go
through the frickin roof.
The way were going, lose this and we will get one friday night match next year.
Probably in bloody Darwin !!!!!
How does that one sit with you Sticks ?

I just got a feeling that Ratts is getting very twitchy and that his gonads are
getting closer and closer to the surgeons knife.
Personally i thnk he is probably a great bloke, but i seriously believe there are
probably 50 posters on this site who think they could have coached better in
the last 6 to 8 weeks. Dissapointingly, they may be fuggin right !!!!!!!!

Al l in all, should be riveting viewing, oh and i despise the opposition as much
as any carlton fan can, so for flower sake stick it up these maggotts !!!!

I'll bet Essendon* will come out and play their free wheeling down the corridor 'top secret' type footy....and we'll come out with our 'let's make sure we tag every Tom Dick and Harry' type footy and the result will be a 6 to 8 goal victory to the scum....

What I would like to see is us coming out with NO negative tactics in mind whatsoever....we are not playing Geelong here....they have no stars they have no match winners....we need to play to our own strengths and FFS can we have a few guys stay inside 50 for a change????

Hate these flower with a passion and, regrettably, I'm bracing for the gruesome fate that awaits the CFC this Friday night. Anything under a 6 goal loss is a "win", IMHO.

We are a genuine bottom 3 team at the moment, just view us in this light for the rest of the season and it will pass alot quicker.

I noticed y'day we were $1.85, them $1.95. I posted a few weeks ago I was amazed we were favourites going into the Swans game and, surprise, surprise, game was over in 10 minutes....

Get on the Bombers, use the cash to finance a 2011 membership and give yourself the right to vote out the lightweights who are in senior positions at this club. See, not such a negative post after all.

exactly they are a team of hacks overall and there is NO reason why Ratts should go "Hmm we need to stop <insert player x>" which always just results in some other bloke having a day out anyway or as seen against the Bulldogs didn't @#$%&! work anyway!

we need to go in get back to basics and play our own footy and PLAY LIKE WE GIVE A SHIT! forget about neutralising and focus on WINNING!

and as i mentioned earlier PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE tell at least one of our forwards to not set foot out of 50

Does anyone seriously think that Sticks will fire Ratten?

I think we could lose all remaining games by 70+ and Ratts would still be coach next year.

They're wearing a "seatbelt" guernsey to promote the 40 year anniversary of seatbelts in Victoria. How courageous, and how thoughtful.

http://www.theage.com.au/afl/afl-news/d ... 113c9.html

EDIT: SEN now reporting they will wear it against Collingwood instead.

I'd love to quip that they must feel they're in for a rough ride/landing, but we can't be sure who's going to turn up.

EDIT: answered.

They probably feel as though they're already going to belt us, so no need for the guernsey
