As someone said, he didnt shit in the corridor, he didnt punch Ratten out, he didnt glass a chick, yes he was being a boofhead and a clown, but thats what I love about Fev. Oh and what a LEGEND he is for telling those two Superfooty blokes that they have no !@#$%& idea, they are not funny at all!

Also, someone tell me what he is doing wrong in the video where he is singing? Sensationalised crap!

Yes he acted like a clown, but gee he and other players have done a lot worse in the past

Seriously a large number of you on here need to lighten up about things, this place is like the prawn sandwich brigade

Fev's an embarrassment to himself, his family and the club.
He's lucky that he's a talented footballer, that's all he's got going for him, as a person he's a moron.
When will he ever grow up?

Sorry, but unless you know him as a person i dont think that its fair calling him a moron.

He may need to grow up(in public) and he may be embarrassing on occasion but being a talented footballer isnt all he's got going for him.

He has a target on his head when he's in public but lets not forget that he is a human being as well and nobody is perfect.

Geez people relax FFS its like we've never done anything wrong before.

i understand there is a time and a place( and the brownlow on t.v is not the place) but it must be hard not being able to unwind in public because you are a popular identity.

What about all the people every weekend getting pissed and causing a ruckus in the city.

well said Mrs C.

Plenty of us have been to corporate functions through work. Yes, at times we've had too much to drink. But we would/should stop ourselves before our behaviour went too far because we all understand that its a work function and we aren't 'out with our mates'.

We all know come Christmas time, the rash of emails from HR advising us about appropriate behaviour at the work function, about how racist/sexist jokes etc are out. Many of us would have done the Compliance courses and read of situations such as Fev's as part of the scenario's.

Do we just dismiss it as we are 'just letting off steam' etc ?

This was a sanctioned and offical event. It wasn't their end of season drink at the pub. Fev's behviour was in terms of a corporate function, out of line. If you did this in the corporate world, you could expect to be officially reprimanded and possibly worse. And if he can't go along without acting this way, then don't go.

The club keeps trying and giving Fev oippurtunites to lead, and he keeps blowing it.

I love Fev, I oove his on-field boyishness and his brilliance. But that doesn't mean I have to accept unacceptable behaviour at a club/AFL event.

Fev has publicly said today he should not drink.
He is telling everyone that he should not drink.
The person some of you are defending is not saying it is my free time, you can flower off because I will do what I like, it was just a little bit of fun.
He is telling us all he should not drink. They are his words not mine.

Hear hear!! It's off season, he can do what he wants (within reason of course).

Getting on the lash and making a fool of yourself is an Australian tradition.

I am going to do my bit, and go get me one of those super large tattoos.

Grand Final day - All Carlton Members
*No member can have more then 3 beers during the grand final game.
*No member can be over 0.05
*You can not urinate on the lemon tree, must use toilet (Would be unprofessional)
* Must leave toilet seat down.
* No yelling during the game, as that may disturb neighbours.
* Have to watch the game wearing neat casual/suit. (Must be professional members)
* Need to be home by 9PM.

Any more standards?

----------------------------------------------------

I think fev will always be a dick when he drinks, im not saying that what he did is ok, its not, but geez, lets just move on.

Fev gets pissed, is a bit of a dick drunk, embarrasses himself and he wont be invited back to next years brownlow. End of story.

He is far better then the following:
* Didak in car with bikies with bullets shot
* Heath shaw/didak crash a car drunk.
* St Kilda players accused of rape.
* Collingwood player caught drink driving - lose TAC sponsorship
* Wayne Carey sleeping with another players wife
* Buddy Franklin in fight over the weekend in Perth.
*Tarrant in fights
* Ben Cousins doing drugs.
* Michael Jordan having an affair with 6 women
* Charles Barkley spitting on a girl in the crowd of a NBA game.

There are a lot more.

suck it up princesses and move on.

To quote the Cohen Bros - not sure I quite agree with your detective work there Goltz...

"If we expect CFC players to be A grade citizens i think the members should be too."

Incorrect - the CFC players are very highly paid members of an industry which relies on the footy going public, the corporate world and the television networks to fund it. Given the success of the industry, the players will be front and centre in the public eye like it or not. if you don't like it don't sign a contract - simple. There are 40,000 members of the CFC (and countless other supporters) who have expectations as to the behavior of those that are given the HONOUR to wear the CFC. When you damage the CFC brand you damage all elements of the club - the brand, the professionalism, the reputation and ultimately the on field performance.

As for your list ... i think Fev's antics (Stole clothes from a laundramat, put a barman in a headlock in Ireland sent home from Australian team, urinated on a shop window in public five days before the first game of the season etc etc) are very comparable with your list and ...

* Didak in car with bikies with bullets shot
* Heath shaw/didak crash a car drunk.
Didak and Shaw were suspended for 6 weeks inc finals and both followed up with best ever seasons
* St Kilda players accused of rape.
Week administration that didn't take action - Butters and Thomas have since been replaced and look at the result
* Collingwood player caught drink driving - lose TAC sponsorship
Point proven - they lost TAC sponsorship - sponsors don't grow on trees
* Wayne Carey sleeping with another players wife
Kangaroos have never recovered from that
* Buddy Franklin in fight over the weekend in Perth.
*Tarrant in fights
Fev's accumulated antics are far worse then these...
* Ben Cousins doing drugs.
Yes - and look what's happened to that club since...lost spiritual leader (Cousins) lost best ever player (Judd) and struggling at the bottom of the table...

And if it's true that Gibbs g'friend was in tears then that's problematic. Remember what happened with one A Hammill. All it took was a few ill chosen comments from John Elliot and we lost a great player. I'm not saying Bryce is going to return to SA cause his gfriend got upset, but sometimes when something's on your mind it doesn't take much to tip your decision one way or another.

It's 2009 - to all those that say all he did was get a bit drunk etc you're not seeing the big picture. If your club aint professional then you won't win the big one - simple as that. And the club IS the players. No more excuses cause he's just a bloke having some fun. If it was Swan, Icke or Ratten doing the same thing would you be so forgiving - of course not.

Yea your right, lets sack him for being drunk and being a tool. Cant have tools at the club. But, when we are outside the 8 next couple years and no chance of winning the finals you can be proud that we have a professional group.

And by the way, Gibbs GF crying could be unrelated to Fev. Ever thought Gibbs chatted to another girl and she cracked it and started crying? But blame that on fev too.

Fev gets an invitation to an official AFL function due to the fact that he is a Carlton footballer who might poll some votes. It is part of the season.

obviously you didnt read the post I quoted.

Its to do with the club and the standards it sets for its players - it shouldnt be that much to expect professional behaviour at a night like the brownlow from someone who is being paid 500+k/year

Club could always use the line that he was acting as an representative of Channel 9 and not the CFC

He is currently on leave form the CFC and is working for Channel 9 and his actions were a reflection on 9 rather the CFC - Whilst employed by CFC his behavior has been impeccable

Ironic that Bulldogs know they cant win a flag without a key forward and some of you guys want to trade our key forward so we can be like the bulldogs, because a guy got pissed during an event that people get drunk in.

Glad your not running the club.

I think it's ironic that you guys tell us how much he loves our club, yet he keeps pissing on it like a Prahran restaurant window  .

He obviously loves our club like he loves his wife.......No respect.

It's like living in San Francisco and waiting for the big one to hit.

Nice try Orange, yet your lack of an argument shows you got nuthin'.

Just keep the "as long as he kicks goals, I don't care what he does" line.

Not much different to what those pimps over at Nicks would say about Dids  .

The club has got tough on Fev. The club will suspend him from playing any games for just over 4 months.

I never said we should sack him - just that we need to control him and if he can't be controlled it's a problem....
Geelong suspend Steve Johnson for 6 weeks - they play in the next 3 grad finals
Collingwood suspend Didak and Shaw for 6 weeks, inc finals, they follow up with career best years.

It's time the CFC took a proper stand.

And regarding Gibb's gf, I wrote "and if it's true that Gibb's gf....". Now you may not be a genius Gotz but I would at least have expected you to realise that that means if she was crying as a result of Fev...the key word is "if"....and if she wasn't crying as a result of Fev - in other words if the story is untrue, then the statement doesn't apply.
