Gee I am looking forward to some revenge in this one. Will be a tough game IMO but a game we SHOULD win none the less.

Hope there are not too many changes to the side that took on the Saints. Hopefully Thornton if fit and will be the only one to come in.

Seats on level 2 centre wing have me pumped for this friday night blockbuster!! :donk:

McVeigh got 2 elbow/ forearm strikes in as well as a neat little punch. He's gawn, and he's already told the media he was angry. @#$%&! angry little ant, he shits me.

Again last night it was Watson who fed the outriders. Against us in the firsat round it was Watson in the 2nd half who stood between us winning and them winning.

Even under heaps of pressure Watson does those little crow pecks and gets the ball out to advantage. He holds it just long enough to find an option. IMO he's the dangerman in the ball ups.

I'd suggest a hard tag on Watson. I'm not sure if Joseph is the man for this job because despite the fact he held Kerr (WCE) Kerr still managed more than a dozen handballs. Its the handballs I'd like stopped with Watson. So the key imo is to get our hands on the ball before Watson does.

Who will be able to tag Watson out of the game? Browne, Joseph or Bannister?

Their forwards will naturally be tagged by the backmen.

BP: Davey I'd go with pace....Joseph
HB: Monfries I'd go with pace again and a bit of height/ reach to spoil....Carrazzo

In the guts, they will have their hands full with Judd, Murphy, Gibbs, Simpson and Stevens. Lovett has to be made to be accountable and we should expsoe him in that area...Simmo?
They will be worried about us given we have 2 tall mobile ruckmen against Ryder and should have the better of the ruck feeds.

Desperation to get our hands on the ball first will go a long way to winning this game.
We must play like we are possessed...just like the last 3 Q's against StKilda.

The bye will do wonders to freshen up the bodies, but Ratts' challenge is to have them mentally prepared to win 4 quarters and that means from the first bounce.

It will be good if McVeigh missess. Not because of his skill, rather, not having to put up with his angry ant antics or have to look at his sour puss face...

Gotta laugh at how many posters note that the Bombers "always fire up" against us or "spoil our party", as if the CFC does not do the same against them. :donk:

Head to head we are still about 10 games in front and over the past 10 years have inflicted great pain to these flower when they least expected it (many times whilst we were bumping along the bottom!). 99 Prelim, Rd 3 2001 (late withdrawals Silvagni, Kouta, Bradley) etc etc. We've more than had our turn, that's for sure.

These teams have an amazing history of "upset" results when they play each other, so get used to it FFS. I'm sure The Blueseum would back this up.

Let's hope it's out turn this week and our game plan and match ups are better than the last 3 games. I'm under no illusion, we'll have to play @ 110% to get over them. Their Saints performance was also very good a few weeks ago and they were bloody good belting Dawks by 7-8 goals before that.

I can't think of a single reason why anyone would want to smash another team more than this one...

I'm amused at all the fear and loathing the Dons have brought up!
They don't bother me a bit.
I always feel we'll get em.
Who'd have predicted Lloydy was gonna start playing well on our round! lol.
I have to admit,I quite enjoyed seeing his little boy grin at the end of the game when he had the footy in his hand at the end.
It doesn't bother me,because I KNOW,(cue Led. Zep. music...)
Way Down Inside, that we are better than them, and we'll get our next premiership before they get theirs.
We will win on Friday nite.
We really will.
However....
If you are still worried...then please remember the round a few years ago where we came back from.....how much people????
40 something points was it not?
It is them who should hate us.
Not the other way round.
Thy're not worth our sweat.

maybe match up like this...

Jamo on lloyd....blanket him like you should.
Bower on Lucas....running off him time after time.
T-bird on Monfries...not sure about this one, but think T-bird can beat him and back up to help out Bower too.
Army on Davey...he'll learn that shite what earning a hard possie is.
Razzo on McPhlea...cut him off supply for a quarter and watch two face go missing.
AJ on Lovett...another victim.
Grigg on Jobe the Glacier...if Grigg stays focussed he will be able to pich alot of ball Jobe may touch first and within 0.4 seconds be 3 metres away delivering forward.

BTW: Love Simmo's last few weeks...showing his team mates how to run the lines.

I think we must have got ahead of ourselves last time....we looked flat and to borrow a Paganism, were playing like millionaires in the first quarter. We were as poor as the scum were good, and still really should have won. Oh, and that momentum stealing bullsheet free to Lloyd froma great spoil by T-Bird, and the ensuing freebie to the Alwyn (great name you got there mate) didn't help either. I expect a much more focussed, disciplined and accountable performance this Friday....come on Blues!

As my mum would say (in high pitched Indian accent): :"Kill them"!!! :fight:

History will show you in the games between us and the scum that the underdog wins over 90% of the time. So it's quite simple really...check the odds on this one and put all your money on the team not being backed to win... :smoking:

If McLaren umpires this game we'll get done, I had him in the Bombres' top 3.

But we're the favourites!!!!!! Surely there is an exception that proves this rule.

Well if we start favourites then we're buggered...the only time this rule was proven wrong was when we were clearly tanking (and lost to them in the games played in the second half of those seasons).

Sorry to have said that but I would love to see this rule broken...but if we start favourites I suggest you place a little side wager on the scum....

If the glacier Lucas is around to lumber around on to his left foot and kick a goal I'll @#$%&! flip.

Bannister is the perfect match up for Watson, both strong in the body.
AJ to the woman basher.
Like someone said, put Bower on Lucas and expose him
Jamo on Lloyd

That should about do it. Let them worry about the good players out on the park.

Who's on Davey?
Who's keeping Winderlich out of trouble?
Who's keeping Dustin Fletcher accountable in defence?
Who's keeping Monfries and Stanton quiet?

Glad you're not our coach

No way - after last year's debacle we can't play him on Monfries again....midfield or defensive forward position for Carrots IMO.
I'd like to see Browne play on Monfries.
Grigg against Watson
Army against Davey
Bannister on Stanton
Joseph on Lovett
Bower/Jamo on Lloyd/Lucas

Now let them worry about stopping Judd, Fev, Murph, Gibbs, Betts, Stevens and Simmo.

Welsh, Reimers and McVeigh (if he plays) look a couple of weeks off 100% match fitness which is a bonus.

No worries there Humper re Carrots although I think he brings a lot to the table against Monfries.

If you have a look at the Friday game and look at the strengths Monfries had over his opponent you will find that other than diving as his speciality he plays tall and takes a good overhead mark..then shot at goal.

IMO Browne is way too short for Monfries.

Stanton and Watson need to be pressured off the ball. Stop them and we stop supply to their outriders like Lovett

I see Carazzo has found his position as a defensive minded forward. Not the best down back, though not terrible. Not the best on the ball as he slows us up with his disposal being either too safe or bad.

I wouldnt over tag these clowns. Lets get them worrying about us.

Key is to hit them hard and fair in early part of the game and get our dominance on the board. Matchups on LLoyd, Lucus, Monfires and Lonergan need to be spot on. They are an even team so we need break that up and surpass them with our own eveness.

We are quicker than last time and couldnt kick worse for goal. I like to think that Thornton wont give them a goal like last time.

Blues by 28.
