We could Dannyboy... but we have to remember it took Synbad three years to start sticking the knife into Pagan. Before that, Synners had him as the saviour.

It's funny it wasn't long ago everyone bemoaned our lack of ability to play modern footy. People defined this has the ability to adapt and change, run rotations and the ability to change the tempo as required.

Now we are trying to play modern footy and people whinge!. The absolute lack of football knowledge by some in here is unbelievable. Teams will play tempo football when they are down if they believe the opposition is getting control of the game and are getting a run on. Neil Craig (good enough comparison I would think) uses it all the time, especially if the opposition is gaining ascendancy. Often the best time to do it is if you are down and in risk of being blown out. Watch what happens against the Crows if the oppostion kicks 2-3 quick ones. They lock down the stoppages annd slow the game down. Kick back in the back line (Bock and Rutten especially) and work it forward.

Keogh, do you think we were a realistic chance of winning last weekend?

Do you think it is important to let the players try tempo football when they think they need to to?

'There just seems to be no spark as if the teams lacking enthusiasm, passion and purpose that we have came came accustomed to sitting in the outer watching Ratten and Brown pay with such vigor and passion' - Melvey - now lad do some research on how people twist the facts to suit their world view.

We have now gone from Ratts is an inexperienced coach to Pagan Incarnate!

Answer is no and based on the previous 2 weeks. Yep we sang the song but i walked out of the dockers game thinking we will get smashed.

Soft
static
too much left to to little
forward line shit
not direct enough
shocking kicking

W only won because Freo are a mirror image of us only worse

Im not a totally pessimistic person and given the last 7 years Ill take a win

But I knew we were going to get our arses kicked in a big way

Tempo footy means attacking and moving the ball quickly when required to put a team under pressure.. instead of snuffing out the clock 7 minutes before half time and then unable to get a leg up for the rest of the game...

lesson might be learnt with what north did with some daring and working hard...

so just finished watching the first half of roos v geelong

geelong got a run on in the 2nd - roos didnt hold the ball in the air , roll over and start the chip chip bullshit.

they dug deep and took it up to them and are right in the game

now they may get blown away in the second half but they sure as hell look a lot more competent than we did

go on give it the yeah yeah they are older , more mature , bigger bodies blah blah

rubbish

they just have clue and a plan and we dont

on paper our team is better than the kangaroos

shit geelong have even kicked straight in this one and mooney is playing

There was a North player who held the ball in the air, and the commentators made a bit of dicussion out of it.

How did you miss that?

Tempo footy is played from fear, fear of getting smashed and we would have been if we didnt.

If we had of continued to try and attack we would have been smashed, really smashed - 80+ points easy.

Are list and mental mindset is fragile - they have to be given the confidence to continue to push forward and attack.

Tempo footy is not for ever its just a stepping stone - we need more experience, strength, confidence and above all to be better drilled in all aspects of the game.

North are well ahead of us in terms of all these facets of the game and can match it with Geelong for a time - lets see how the second half pans out (without the benefit of going to the radio  :P ).

how did you miss them then kick the next 3 kicks down the line and they ran on

the commentators then proceeded to take the piss out of carlton for holding the ball in the air and kicking it in circles for 6 minutes

i think the comment was north must speak in a different dialect in reference to the language of holding the ball in the air

north held it up for about 5 seconds as their players ran forward to create options

that was nothing like what we did at all

North have been a regular finals team for years now.

Comparing them to us is foolhardy.

C'mon keogh, you're not doing a very good job of convincing anyone otherwise. Next you're gonna tell me that Melvey's inside word is always right!!

this isnt a dig at you agro

but all this bullshit about mental fragility and confidence and young bodies and so on and so forth

are purely rubbish excuses to cover up our mediocrity

excuses and nothing more

band aiding a complete lack of planning and preparation
- willingness to fight and work hard for each other and pride

and those problems are our reality and problems

the skill set is there but nothing else is

Meanwhile Geelong beat North, despite them appearing to have a plan.

What good's a plan if it doesn't work?

exactly

our list is better than theirs

they fight, they work hard for each other, they are drilled, they have pride

we have none of that
