I am a good mate of Mark Murphy's brother. I can say that Mark is a great young kid who has the potential to be a great footballer. Without going into details, I think we would have had some issues had Pagan been at the club next year. I will leave it at that.

I am very happy with the departure of Pagan, even if its 3 years later than I wanted. The guy is a germ and he infected the club. We can now start fresh. We will not win another game for the rest of the year don't matter who coaches us, not because we are not good enough but because we just lost Fevola (4 weeks) and Walker (Season) to injury. Our agenda will be simple, play the kids and lets have a crack next year.

As for Pagan, he did not do anything for the blues apart from the 2 preseason cup flags. He never had the players even though he sacked players the new ones still did not take to him - thats saying something.

The club has made the right decision

Interesting...I know of 1 player who had no problem with Pagan coaching us next year....and a few other players who were actually shocked that Pagan was sacked today.

Let's not lump "some players" into the whole playing group.

*I know bluejoker didn't say "the whole playing group" but many other posts today and recently have implied the same thing*

This tells us that there could be divisions amongst the playing group?

First task for the new coach is to get this side playing and bonding as a team. A line needs to be drawn in the sand and each player has to have the belief in themselves and team mates to get them on the journey to success.

Nothing to do with "supposed" divisions within the team Wangers.

Just an observation that Pagan wasn't the Anti-Christ and as such some players might not have gelled with him while many others did.

I'm just sick of posters writing things as if they are gospel for everyone. It is not true, and would not be true in anyones workplace.

I have people at my workplace that are great, get on with lots, but they also annoy others.

It is just human nature.

Possibly. But it goes without saying that we have also been beaten convincingly because of the vast difference in skill level and physical strength between us and the opposition. Not to mention lack of on-field leadership.

No doubt some players got on well with the coach, while others would not have.

But yes, it did appear that the players were regularly not playing as a single, committed unit. How much this is the coach's responsibility vs player responsibility, well, who knows.

It was much the same as the quotes from the press conference. Fair enough given the interview took place this afternoon, straight after the press conference.

He was quite jovial at times, I guess part due to the relief. He maintained he did his best. He would not portion blame on any one group and basically knew his time was up. He said he mentioned to his wife last week that if the Brisbane game was ugly to expect him home early for dinner tonight.

He said when he spoke to the playing group that they should carry on and work their hardest for whoever was the new coach. He also said a few players came to his office this afternoon for some goodbyes, although he didn't name names.

The only real comments made that were open to any speculation was one where he said that during his time at the club 95% of the players and coaching staff gave him their all. He didn't expand on the other 5%.

Sheahan came away from the interview with a strong belief that Pagan wants to coach again. Going on what I saw from the interview I would say that Pagan believes he could still be a senior AFL coach, but I'm not sure he's desperate, but I dare say his manager will be pushing his name forward over the coming months.

Think that's about it, or that I can remember right now.

I had to chuckle when Sheahan suggested he might cry. :o

When you are 59 and are about to cop 800 large, with all the new super rules, I certainly would'nt be crying :-D
