Even if lance kicks 10 goals one behind this week.

He will still get bagged for missing a goal.

Even after his great year last year he was bagged through out the year. Eventually you will get it right

Dose not matter what he does there will always be snipers in the bushes waiting to take a cheap shot.

Good point

I think we have a few Caroline Wilson's in thie forum. Or Carolyn Wilson, how ever u say it

Its a bit sad that a guy can win a B&F last year and plays 1 bad game and Carlton Members are on his back.

I dont care what his stats were in the preseason, its a practise game virtually for 4 rounds. Thats why the commentators say Gibbs first kick in league football was a GOAL.

I agree that his form is a little bit below par for one game, But thats 1 game. Brown, Goodes, Hodgey this round all had shockers and l havent heard anyone bag them.

And he only played half a game and had just as many stats as JB and Goodes. He didnt have the ball kicked to him much last game so you cant do much if u dont get the ball kicked near you.

For one year guys support your players and club and stop bagging them all season. We won the game and you still gotta find a negative.

If we didnt have Whitnall last year we would of lost every game by 100pts.

We have no room for caroline wilsons or richmond like supporters at our club

Well where did he win the B&F? in the backline!! I saw him stop heaps of goals last year, taking lots of contested marks in the back line.

I just love how a guy can win the Best and Fairest at the club last year and everyone jumps on his back after 1 game.

Ahh I don't think everyone's on Lance's back. And you say it's only been one game.. fair point, that's why I've said all along give him another 2-3 games then act... But the reason everyone is "on his back" is because he really doesn't look like he's going to improve soon. For mine it's not the lack of stats but just the way he's played.. I can't see a major turnaround until he gets some serious fitness and if that is the case let him build that fitness in the 2's.

Of Course, I am hoping and praying that I am proven wrong and Lance comes out against the pussys or scum better than ever. It would be great.

But I am NOT just finding negatives. I am, and I think many posters would be the same, simply looking at how we can Improve as a team.

Jake,

Fairly subjective take on things.

Lance has proven over several years that he is a good player, capable of being a very good player at times. He had a bad couple of years, but a very good 06. He played a shocker on Sunday.

The coach and MC, which are aware of everything that a player puts into the club, appointed him Captain - this was for more than just his on field performances. Surely he deserves more than another 2-3 games to completly turn it around?

Also, I think that the reason lots of people on here are on Lance's back is because he is one of TC's whipping boys. The moment a few people can smell blood they go all out to hang shit on particular players.

Perhaps the usual suspects could channel their energy into supporting the club or point out the positives which the Blues have experienced over the past 2 months. But if they did this perhaps they wouldn't get as much attention.

It hasnt been just one game... Lance hasnt played well in any games including the successfull pre season campaign. In fact , he's been simply awful and ineffective.. His dip in form reminds me of Corey McKErnan's sudden dip in form at the Kangas in about 2001.

Shit happens in footy, like Ackland spoiling your marking attempt when you're in the box seat to take the grab. That's the way the cookie crumbles. One minute you're up the next you're down.

I imagine most of the people bagging Lance atm were bagging Stevens and wanting him traded last year.

Well, if we would have lost every game by 100 points without him, I can see your point!

Does anyone else remember the Hawthorn game last year? Lance was the focal point of our attack and he killed em. Kicked a bag and along with Eddie and Walks kept us in the game. If he is capable only a year ago of playing that kinda footy, then i think he is more than capable of finding that sort of form and spark again. While opposition team's become Fev conscious, Lance will come out and make them pay.

He just needs to get his confidence and work rate up, because he has the talent. People keep saying slow this, slow that. It's all irrelevant if you have the talent. Especially for a tall marking forward. Its about positioning, leading, losing your opponent, etc. Lance knows how to do all those things. But his head needs to be 100% on the game, because that's his biggest asset. His head just isn't 100% with it at the moment - for obvious reasons.

Cut the guy some slack. I think he deserves a bit more respect than what some of our couch supporters are showing him. He's done enough for this club to deserve that.

Is that the same game that Croad kicked 5 goals on him in a half? :P

Ok, you'ld never guess which side of the fence I sit on by looking at my avatar and sig but I'll throw in my "independent 2c" anyway.

I was at the game on Sunday..Lance had a shocker.
One of those nights where nothing was working.
His holding the ball decision was terrible...ball was out and Gasper pulled it back in under Lance. Chased down Howatt at one stage, couldn't believe how fast he closed ..no joke...neither could Hpwit who kicked a an ordinary one that just made it to Polo and the togers were away. Lances fingernails just missed it...had he stopped the ball and it stays in the forward half...he's a genius.
Fisher centres the ball on the fly, it bounces straight across the front og goal...end over end...doesn't slow or pop up. Lance is away from his man and it races past him, otherwise an easy goal...

All of these things, you know, it's not your night.

BUT...

Lance is moved and then dragged. Can't get into the game, not his night, spends it on the pine...

I don't have a problem with that. The problem is if he was wandering around blaming others and giving away frees...the problem wouyld be if the coaches wre refusing to drag hiom becuase he was captain....the "example that was set to the younger players" was youy bloody well get in there and you get the pill or you will be on the pine.
I don't have a problem with that...don't think anyone does.
I think it sets the best example and was the best outcome...Lnace off = Wiggo on and the intensity was there in the last 1/4 from the Wiggler..

SO I'm not sure what everyone's complaing about....The message is loud and clear...contribute or you will be finding form on the bench or in the 2s....

...mind you I expect Lance to turn it around and a few here hope he fails...that's the only diffrence

good on you billc

like you, I hope he turns it around. I am sick of hearing people who love the club slag off a bloke who has been one of our best players over the last 10 years
