Just a reminder - in particular to all member... even though you may have signed up chances are there are blues supporters you know how haven't... in the past week *in light of the elections and whatnot*, I convinced my brother to upgrade to Gold "C'mon mate, a few drinks before the match and reserved seats when we rock up at 2 o'clock" - and yesterday convinced the old man tp get a silver membership via direct debit... i'm also getting my 8 year old brother his first membership and carlton top before the start of the NAB so I can take him to the Carlton Essendon* match.

You may not always get people willing to sign up, but as I found out - it's worth a try! :-D

Sparky maybe you should call all of the lapsed members? :-D

Hey I'm thinkin' about it! Maybe I can impersonate Gibbs or Murphy? :P

I actually convinced the reception lady at work *a real nice sweet old lady* to get the Silver Membership - once again using the direct debit line... started with an off the cuff 'have you bought a membership for this year?'

You can count me down as 1 person with a total of 4 memberships who has jumped on board (renewed) as I have just finished ordering my membership online after today's news.

I reckon that a figure of 35,000 members is not at all out of the question. Especially with a few early wins under our belt!

Win a few games in the first couple of months and 40K might be achievable.

After Jack was booted out we went from about 27 to 33.5K very quickly. We've been heading for 32K plus this year with Smorgon in the chair.

Considering the response to Pratt coming in why not 40K?

One would think there'll be a few good news stories over the next few months that just might help too. :-D

just got my membership the day before yesterday, and have also recruited 3 new members to carlton (one of whom i converted from collingwood just a few weeks ago). everything's looking so good for us, we should get at least 35 000 members this year if not 40 000, and to all those collingwood supporters who bag us for being poor, well now we can buy them out 10 times!! GO THE BLUES!!

Hey guys, just got off the phone with one of the workers in the Carlton Membership shop and she said that they have been inundated all day with people signing up today. She said that the phones have not stopped all day.

Asker her about the numbers and she said that we now have over 18000 members, and that at the end of last week it was a little over 17000.

Great work bluesbogan - it's one thing to get a membership yourself, but if we all at least try to bring in one or two extra people who knows how much it will benefit. Decided to get my 'lil 8 year old brother a Blues membership *probably just the one with the flag, stickers and tattoos and stuff - no matches*... he hasn't been to a game yet, so I'll try to get him to one or two so he can wage that flag when fevola *of course his favorite player* kicks a goal...

Anybody know what memberships get counted in the total? Silver upwards, the $66 Blue memberships? The kids ones!?

Cheers SB, my little 6yo brother came to the Carlton vs Saints game last year i think... it was when we got pumped. He loved it anyway.

I think i will get him the the Junior Captain Carlton which will actually get him into all of our Victorian games. It will also come in handy if i want to take a mate to the footy with me.

Anyway heres a list of some of the junior memberships if your interested

Who said Pratts money would save Carlton. All Pratt had to do was become President for a day to inspire everyone Carlton that all is not lost.

At this rate 32k members was to make us cash flow neutral, 35k members we will make a profit (Based on budget announced by old board).

Hate to be a grumpy old bugger but it still irks me that people are skiting on here about how they have signed up because they now know we are heading out of the shit. What does that say about supporting the club when it REALLY needs you? Good on them for signing in the end but I reckon they need to take a look at themselves.

I haven't read anything saying that people only bought there memberships because of Pratt and the new board stepping in. People are probably jumping on board now because of all the hype recently. There is genuine excitement around the club at the moment something we haven't had in quite a while and people want to be apart of it.

There's one example but you know exactly the mindset I am talking about BB. We'll take anyone of course - welcome aboard/back one and all. But why drop off when things are tough at the club? If it's a financial thing I can understand but we don't want to be seen as fair weather supporters in the mould of Richmond. Anyway, it's all good.

I think its a mixture of how the club is percieved and how it presents itself to supporters also IE when we where successful in the past a lot of supporters didnt become members because they all believed they didnt have to as the club was seen as not needing help so we didnt take advantage of our success. In recent times in general we have had more people sign up to come on board to help but possibly in the last couple of years the messages from the Blues off-field with all the dramas prob has been a great selling point of getting people to sign up.....

Seem like this has all changed with our new Prez and the message is exactly how it should be to get some of our uncertain disenchanted unsigned members or supporters on board.

This is one of the most encouraging impacts i have read since Pratt was anounced as the Prez from The Australian of all papers

Within hours of Pratt being confirmed as the new president, the club switchboard and website were overrun with previously disenchanted supporters seeking to renew their membership. Within weeks of chairing his first board meeting, Pratt will have reviewed his senior staff and identified the changes to be made. In the meantime, he is intent on lifting Carlton's damaged spirits and restoring its pride.

The Pratt family, through the Pratt foundation, is among Australia's most generous philanthropists. "We give away between $10million and $12million a year to welfare causes, to education causes and lots of other causes," he said.

Carlton was not a welfare case, Pratt insisted. But after playing for the Blues in the 1950s in the under-19s and reserves as a teenager and supporting the club his entire life, he believes it is a worthwhile cause of a different kind.

"I see my involvement in Carlton contributing to the community," Pratt said. "There are 16 teams in the league; they all have a support base. Their support base is growing stronger; Carlton's support base is growing weaker. I want to help Stephen and the committee stop that loss of support base and pick it up so that the children and grandchildren of supporters of the past can enjoy Carlton as much as I have over the years

thylacine60, I do see your point - but at the same time you'd have to think that for the most part supporters who are frequenting TC aren't exactly going to be your fence-sitting type... Sure I didn't renew until that long ago, but that was irrelevant to any of the club politics that have been going on of late... I agree, we don't want to be a Richmond - or if you go back a 'lil a Collingwood *damn, didn't THEY come out of the woodwork!?*...

Speaking of which, I wonder how much their membership shot up the year Eddie took over as Prez!?

Anyways, back to my ramble...

...

That's it... lastly, no matter what the reason - more membership is a good result for the club, and a true show of support. There may be fence-sitters that don't make their decisions until certain events happen *or don't*... I for one am making an effort to sign up every Carlton member I know - on the back of the good news of late.

The way I think about it : You may have someone hoo-haa about not purchasing a membership for years, but if you can convince them to buy a single one, they can turn into a lifetime member...

GO BLUES! 8)

Sorry to quote my self...

Show of support = Getting a membership

True show of support = Getting a membership *financial difficulties aside* through the good, and the bad...

So you think I jumped on board because of the new pres hey, well you got that completely wrong.

Since 1993 except for 1 year I have always renewed my membership late Jan/ early Feb just before I could start to smell the footy in the air.

The only time I haven't renewed in Jan/Feb was in late 2002 when I joined up the very first day membership started to help the club with their cash flow problems at the time.

So don't sit back there and classify me in the same mold as a fair weathered Richmond supporter

Fridays news put me in a good mood which prompted me and I quote "renew" my membership as I would of done in the upcoming weeks anyway.
