Hewett (RFA not matched) replaces ?????

At least 2 more players to come off our list. Is that right?

Has to be Gibbons, Ramsay...maybe re rookie Ramsay for Betts.

Rookies Out of contract can be kept another year (covid rule??) Honey, Cottell, Boyd, Kennedy Owies (NGA),

Have I got this right? Anyone?
From what I've read list sizes aren't changing in 2022, so my understanding is the following remains :-

Primary List = 38 players maximum

Rookie List (Cat A) = 6 players maximum

Combined (Primary + Cat A) = 42 players maximum

Rookie List (Cat B) = 2 players maximum

TOTAL (Primary + Cat A + Cat B) = 44 players maximum (37 players minimum)

At season's end we had 36 on the primary list, 8 Cat A and 1 Cat B for a total of 45 players.

36 primary list - Murphy - Casboult = 34 primary list
8 cat A - Betts = 7 cat A
1 cat B

So as a minimum something like ...
Move Kennedy from cat A to primary (35 primary, 6 cat A)
Delist 3 primary list players to accommodate Hewett, Cerra and 2 picks in the National Draft (Kennedy's upgrade would count as third pick)

That would get us to 36 primary + 6 cat A + 1 cat B

Make sense

Yeah...sorta...no changes to the numbers on a list.

I get it.

McDonald’s ability to play at either end of the ground is a trump card for us - if we can get him onto the primary list. As it stands, he’s probably the first choice at CHF though that’s by default. There’s a couple of other options at CHB, but they’re either broken or don’t quite fit right.

If we can’t land someone like Riccardi on the cheap, we’d do well to draft a CHF - or get McGovern’s contract off the books.

Some fun and for discussion

That was fun.

Nice of Pom to mention my hopeful pick, Goater.
I like him for the wing.

Now that Cerra has selected Carlton, we know the deal will get done, with pick 6 the best Freo can get from a Victorian team who is interested in Cerra.
Cerra as the outside player with Crippa, Walsh, and my gut feeling is Williams in the middle.

Hewett will not be matched by Swans, so he's a free hit.

Bazzo....gosh, need to look at him. Ive seen the name, but NFI.

The idea of sending pick 36 and 2022's 2nd round for Brisbane's Pick 18 is one of the deals I'm hoping Austin can pull, which gives us a chance at Goater, otherwise Goater is a pipe dream

SPS at pick 36 is Poms pick, but I think we have the upper hand in that deal with WCE already committing to SPS and vice versa, so I'd be inclined to think we get pick 20 with a few swaps with latter picks.

Akuei (NGA) and McKay (FS) are likely given they have trained with Carlton for a few years, there's a bit of familiarity there, and Austin would know what we are getting if selected.

With Casboult, Murphy and SPS off the list, and Hewett Cerra, and 3 mandatory picks from the draft (possibly Goater, Bazzo & McKay), looks to me Gibbons and Ramsay may be left out and LOB has another year under Voss.

Great to see Kennedy signing on for another year. He was a revelation in the 2nd half when given a go after being the best in the VFL, week in week out.

So much depends on what Andrew Russell can do to condition this list for a strong 2022, coz all the hype our team were primed in 2020 for the shortened games, and sor 2021 have turned out to look like bull dust.

Love what Burgess has done at Melbourne.,,,and Crows are lucky to be getting him. We need some luck with Russell.

OMac is really important given we have no other real talls to take or push for positions.

Again, it all depends on how Russell views his back condition, and if he can be rebuilt...fingers crossed coz OMac is a bird in the hand.

london knows him. I know the family are bathing in Tom's glory, but they were rapped Oscar got to carlton and the environment for him at Carlton was welcoming and fun.

Guesses on the 3?

Gibbons Ramsay...there's only LOB left uncontracted on the Primary list.

All other players out of contract are Cat A rookies.
Even if Kennedy remains on the rookie list, it still requires a Primary list player delisted or traded....hope I've missed one.

Hang on Levi and Murph, SPS is 3, add Gibbons and Ramsay, makes it 5, for Cerra, Hewett and 3 Draft picks, or 2 if Kennedy upgraded.

LOB survives.....????

Where does McDonald fit in there?

Was he drafted in lieu of the rookie picks we passed on, or as an injury top up to the senior list for Kemp/Marchbank/Curnow?

Assuming we choose to keep him, that's probably another list spot to fill.

SPS/O'Brien/Newnes/Ramsey as a rookie

Kevin Sheehan on the AFL website had this to say about Rhett Bazzo ((195cm) after the WA vs SA game

Bazzo, from South Mandurah, was likewise a rock in defense with 10 marks and aggressive spoiling a feature as he collected 18 possessions, predominantly in the back half. Another with a taste of senior WAFL football under his belt and having played both back and forward at college and club level, Bazzo looks a natural defender who also sets up play with his mobility and penetrating right foot. An All-Australian at Under 16s level in 2019, he certainly played some inspirational football for his state at the weekend, leaving a positive impression on his future AFL prospects.

Need another high pick to get this kid. Guessing can't get Gibcus now.

Like others, I suspect Gibbons and Ramsay would be the most nervous on the primary list. Until a few days ago I would've probably had Newnes as next in line, though he's rumoured to have triggered a clause for another contract, so perhaps he's dodged a bullet. Should the Newnes rumour be true that might put O'Brien under the microscope, though I'd prefer they persist with him. More left field, and I'm hoping Doc comes back fighting fit and in full health in due course, but the pessimistic part of me wouldn't be the slightest bit surprised if he retired. He's gone through an awful lot in the last few years and I certainly wouldn't blame him if that's how it pans out.

From the rookie list, I'd guess Boyd, Cottrell and Parks would be most likely to go.

I'm kind of hoping for minimal list changes and a little consolidation of the list to see what Voss can get out of them.

McDonald is currently on the rookie list, added during the SSP immediately prior to the start of this season.

Probably just depends what our draft hand looks like after trade week. Gibcus is being talked up as top 10 in nearly all the phantoms, though I did see one or two have him falling in the later teens. If we retain #25, perhaps Bazzo is a chance. The other possible KPDs that I didn't mind the look of (traditional YouTube recruitment) were Alleer and Van Rooyen.

Sonsie is dropping. He was often rated top 6 until he injured his knee. Considering it was a minor injury, it's interesting to see how it affects a players rating when they are out of the spotlight.
