Sgt Schultz has busted more packs than Jay. Yes he can lead up and take the occasional speccie but thats not what we need.
We need a strong body to take the heavy work.

Not so much if we have an organised system of entry and clean delivery to our forwards.

Bombing the ball in and hoping for crumbing goals isn't productive enough.

Would prefer to keep Zach! Finished Top 3 in B&F last year and will probably be in our Top 5 this year (Cripps, Docherty, Gibbs, Curnow & Zach).

The only ones i see us putting up for trade are
Graham
Casboult
Everitt

Those are the only three i see holding any real currency anyway, and that currency wouldn't be much at all.

Has had injuries this year (durability issues?) and probably doesn't fit our youth focus would be my opinion.

I've taken a fairly simply approach to this, having not seen any reserves footy. I've simply added the retirements to the list of uncontracted players at (http://www.afl.com.au/news/2016-08-11/z ... n-new-deal) and looked at the players who haven't played much senior footy. This gives a list of 8 players to cull from the senior list, 9 if Daisy retires.

I suspect we wouldn't cut deeper then 8 or 9 from the main list, unless we trade a lot of players in. We haven't cut contracted players in recent seasons, so I'm assuming this trend runs true.

Delist
1. Michael Jamison
2. Andrew Walker
3. Matthew Dick
4. Jayden Foster
5. Clem Smith
6. Jason Tutt
7. Dillon Viojo-Rainbow
8. Mark Whiley
9. Dale Thomas? (assuming he retires)

Keep
Nick Graham
Kade Simpson, free agent
Dennis Armfield, free agent
Dylan Buckley
Zac Tuohy
Matthew Wright

A number of those above would be looking at short term deals I would suggest.

Keep or trade
Levi Casboult
Andrejs Everitt (possible delist if trade not found and the club wants to keep one of the players I've marked as delist).

I still get the feeling Armfield's time could be up. It all depends how deep we want to cut.

Damien Barrett just reported on the Footy show that Levi signed a new deal today.

Hard to disagree with those delistings, although I doubt Daisy will retire. I reckon he will see out his contract.

Foster is an interesting one. Has he shown enough as a KD this year to warrant another season? It may depend on what we trade in & out. He's probably gone, but it's not as clear cut as the others for mine.

Armfield & Everitt should be offered 1 year contracts only, IMO.

Of the rookies, I expect Gallucci, Gowers, Sheehan & Wood to be cut. It's a shame about Sheehan, but it's hard to defend keeping a 26 year old who has played so little footy. Gowers is perhaps a bit unlucky.

Armfield's played good footy this year and at times been very important. He'll go again. Don't mind he, Buckley and Touhy in the same side as it adds real pace as well as the inspirational ability to kick a long goal on the run, especially the latter two. If Boekhorst takes another step then we have a side with some real pace. Boekhorst's up and down but has shown something. If he can take one more step and be a regular then that pace will be very handy.

In Armfield's case who would've though a pick 46 at Carlton would be a 10 year player.

Hasn't Gallucci missed almost the entire year with injury?

Would be pretty unlucky to be cut if that is the case.

Reckon if there's any interest for Boekhurst we will take a 3rd rounder & run.

His lack of physicality is scary!

Boakhurst won't survive if he's out of contract. Silvagni based his argument to have Shane Rogers sacked because he selected Boakhurst with our first round pick. SOS said he was a third round or fourth round pick if that.

if we discount our new breed who we would hope are there when we are contending again (cripps, docherty and last year's draftees) no-one apart from gibbs, kruezer, casboult and murphy is worth anything to any other team.

I don't think we would trade murhpy and nor should we - he is our captain and that should mean something.
i'd trade the others b/c we need more top 30 picks but I also wouldn't waste a trade on them: i.e. we must get something better than what we are giving up.

Gibbs - must be top 10 pick at miniimum
Kruezer - top 25 pick (if depth of draft is reasonably good)
Casboult - 2nd round pick at worst

We may well not be offered this but if not, I just wouldn't do the trade. not worth getting a couple of extra late speculative picks for reasonably good to very good medium term players.
The only caveat to that is if we can use late picks to bundle up for a high pick under the points system.

Think he might. He's been good at times, just up and down alot. Improve his consistency, that's the big key, and he adds real pace to the likes of Touhy, Buckley, Sumner, Armfield and even Simmo. If we got the right plan going we have players that could really break lines with a couple with ability to hammer the long goal on the run from 50.
