Never been a fan but he is starting to grow on me. He actually talk a bit of sense the other day in the presser.

Love to see him take us to a flag but I doubt it .

I do like Rowe, best kick out of all the big guys too...will excite the masses!!

Agree. MM likes the big targets inside 50. These guys will create targets and will minimum bring the ball to the ground for Eddie and the mids.

Also not a bad ploy come finals time. :smoking:

It is handy come finals time. When tactics go out the window. When moving the ball forward at all costs creates more marking contest as the ball goes from one contest to the other.

During the home and away season we will have to wait and see how it works. The ball could fire out of the forward 50 super quick if our 3 talls are not in marking moods.
Teams last year that traditionally went with 2 talls plus resting ruck were reverting to 1 tall plus ruck with counter football , pace on the rebound and a superior press being favoured over big marking lumbery talls.

Will be interesting to see how it pans out. A forward line of Rowe, Casboult and Hampson (resting ruck) would want to mark it more times than not. Waite would give a bit more flex but he is rarely in the 22.

It will be interesting to see how we go against the Tiges with their style of play versus MM's. Theirs probably resembled ours last year and I think we beat them with talent.

They appear to have topped up in the personnel dept, but I would think they will have a similar style to last year and ours will have changed substantially.

I will be suprised if we beat them in rnd 1 this year. They are set to go. I don't think we will be.

You could be right. I'm still hopeful that we have better personnel and that's enough.

They are the Tigers after all.

They were set to go round 1 last year, and we weren't close.
Just a lazy 7 goal win.

They are a chance ... But ..... Rely on too few as match winners.

Finally we may have our strongest team in against them for Round 1, particularly in defence.

They need to win it more than we do. Reckon they'll start favourites, with massive expectation. Blues by 80.

We can be forgiven for dropping a Rd 1 win against them as we have won all but one of them and they are being talked up on a regular basis as having finally arrived.

The pressure is all on them.

So...those that have watched our games this year and know a bit (or think they know a bit) about game plans...what are we doing different?

I know it's still 'early doors'.

But other than the obvious boundary skirting and greater emphasis on key position players, the whole club seems to have regained its belief under MM. Whenever players get interviewed, there seems to be much greater 'buy in' and genuine enthusiasm. Also players seem more organised. Under Ratts we used to hear a lot more about individual stats like kicking efficiency and tackles and contested balls. Under MM we seem to be hearing a lot more about structures. It sounds and it looks like system as opposed to simply talent and effort will have a much bigger bearing on our prospects (as I think many of us expected under the change of coach).

That's a pretty good summary from an another thread

Only problem I have seen so far is when we are under pressure in defence we seem to fall back on past habits. From forward of centre we seem to be getting it.
