Hope we are docking his pay until Monday.

Said on Perth radio this week that he was contracted to start Nov 1 but still had to finish Perth, Brisbane and Canberra and would start Monday.

I don't give a flying @#$%&! about the book tour. Get on with your job, in person, hands on. You have plenty to do.

Dock his pay?

Im not a big fan of the appointment of Malthouse and the book tour isn't ideal, but you'd be silly to think he hasn't been putting in a fair bit of thought and effort certainly since his appointment, if not before.

Sure is.

Hopefully we are not part of the Super scheme.

Imagine how much work he'd be doing if he wasn't traveling the country signing books, doing media and speaking engagements.

But he is still working so I guess that's ok. For some.

The board appointed him knowing he had obligations with other parties until December.
I suggest your apathy is being directed at the wrong person.

Maybe, just maybe he had a non-compete 12 month clause with Collingwood as part of his severance deal in October last year?

Living under these rocks that we do, makes it difficult to interpret simple realities. :smoking:

As of next week, he is a free agent........and ours. Bring it on. Cant wait to see whether we can realize the full potential of undoubted talents such as Gibbs, Yarran, Lucas and Kruezer.

His contract starts from Nov 1.

He's been working part-time since his appointment in early September, but really you'd imagine he's already putting in 40-50hrs a week.

Like I said, Im not a fan of his appointment, but you can be sure he'll be well prepared by the time we head to Arizona.

Perhaps my concerns will end up being unfounded.

I desperately want us to bounce back and be a real threat next year.

Just not all that comfortable with our new coach traveling the country and not solely focused on his huge task at hand. Even if it was known upfront.

Do you really think Mick isn't having list management meetings just three weeks before the national draft?

Geez.

'Over the last three to four weeks players have been coming in to use the altitude room or doing work in the gym and you can just feel that bit of a buzz around the place, you can tell everyone's up and about, which is great,'' says McKay.
Not that they've seen much, if any, of the coach yet. Malthouse's visits to the club have been confined to the odd half-day here or there. Sometimes Muhammad, in this case the club, has had to go to the mountain. Last Monday, McKay, football administration manager Shane O'Sullivan, fitness man Justin Cordy and new assistant coach and long-time Malthouse cohort Rob Wiley met the coach in town for a long planning session.
''We spent half the day just going through our planning of training and our scheduling, just trying to bed down what we want to do this year,'' says McKay. ''Justin ran through what he wants to do fitness-wise, Rob has helped design the training stuff and we talked about even little things like with travel, when we go, when we come back.
''Arizona will be about Mick getting to know the players and vice versa, getting to know how he wants to play, the structures he wants to put in place, so even though we'll be doing a fair bit of work at altitude, it will be a good education camp as well.''
