Happy Birthday Bill!

Today is Bill Redmond's 80th birthday.

Bill has provided some great material to the Blueseum and as well as a congratulatory email, Bill has been made the Past Player of the Week.

http://www.blueseum.org

Well done Bill!

The Blueseum has a mention in the cover article of Searcher Magazine this month.

The article can be seen here: http://www.infotoday.com/searcher/jun07/Birdsong.shtml

The Blueseum stuff is down near the bottom of the article.

Good to get some exposure for the site and the club.

The stats site stats.rleague has kindly donated the Carlton-related stats data created out of their drive to complete their AFL section with player stats back to 1992.

This means that Playing Lists and Statistical leaders pages from 1992 to 1997, started by 'WillowBlue' and BlueWorld, can now be updated or extended. I'm in the process of doing this, including cross-links to Stat Shots of all of our 1995 Premiership Players. If anyone can assist that would be great.

In return, we have been asked whether any of the Blueseum or TC readers would have newspaper stats from 1991 to assist with the stats.rleague site completing the 1991 year.

If you have any such material, please provide it to me and I will forward it on.

Cheers

Good to see Fraser Brown is the player of the week in the Blueseum this week. He's my all-time favourite Carlton player.

Pick a Legend and summarise their playing record for the Blueseum!

So far about 60 or so have been done from the 1990's and more recently, with cross-links to all the B&F results, Brownlow Votes, Playing lists summaries and stat leaders references. but over 1000 are yet to go if we do all of them.

If you have a favourite from the past please have a go at setting up a Stat Shot. Perhaps review those in there - check from kernahan, bradley, Murphy J&M, Kennedy, Scotland, Peter Dean etc. or PM me.

Someone somewhere will appreciate it!

Guess dannyboy's all time favourite who wore #11 previously to the Flying Doormat :)

#11 has been a good one for us. It wont get the accolades of #2 #4 #7 or #25 but there have been some very good players to have worn it.

Just reading your post Brad; and I was embarassed to notice that I'd neglected to mention John "Ragsy" Goold.....(Mr.Elegance) who also wore #11 before Bruce.....great player from Healesville; whose full name from memory was "John Crosbie-Goold".....he was also a Champion Polo player.

Thanks mate.....got a bit on my mind lately; and that one went thru to the keeper.

Called "Mr.Elegance" by Lou Richards for his "English Country Gentleman" style of dressing; John was also labelled "Ragsy" as he was a Rep. for "Holeproof" Lingerie/Stockings in Brunswick......(The Rag Trade was a broad name for the Mens/Womens Clothing Industry)

As I recall; he didn't want his full family name to be made public.

A great attacking half back flanker; John played a major part of Carlton's second half revival in the 1970 GF; when Barassi shifted him to the wing at the interval.....he was fast; with a penetrating left foot kick.

It's been a while since I have done some work for the Blueseum so it will be good to get back into it

Great, can always rely on you and trueblue24(3) nikki.

I think your recent Milestones work is an interesting addition, so if you prefer to do that I think its worthwhile. Just one thing - try to keep the order consistent ie put it after Career Highlights for all players.

Otherwise, all of the Legends of Carlton outside of those who've played say the last 15 years could do with a Stat Shot that summarises all of the information provided in Playing Lists, Brownlow Votes and B&F votes to provide a real overview of that player. The older players probably don't need 'Statistical leaders' as we'll struggle for that info, but maybe delete a column.

Have a look at the Craig Bradley stat shot and see if you can work out how to do it, if not PM me here or on site.

I am happy to keep doing what I am doing with the milestones. I am using the 'Milestones' spreadsheet in the documents section but I think it is a mixture of Carlton milestones and total afl milestones so i will have to sort them out a bit. There was also some data missing so I will try and fill in some gaps.

Great nikki, thats useful.

2 latest stat summaries for some lesser known players of the late 1990's:

Ben Nelson: http://www.blueseum.org/cfc/tiki-index. ... B%20Nelson

Mark Porter: http://www.blueseum.org/cfc/tiki-index. ... A+M+Porter

We now have about 70 of these done. I find them pretty interesting anyway.
