Worst captain we have ever had

Offer him up for a trade and see if we can snare the #1 pick.

PS. Make no apologies for shooting Bambi

man, you have balls of steel saying that

i have thought this, but i thought i was just being overly negative. he just tries to do far too much, and doesnt really lead from the front

but to say he os the worst captain we have ever had takes away from marc murphy

I stand by what I said. It's not a popular view, I have thought this for a long time, fromm the Teague days

Yes he won the Brownlow last year but he has a (playing) one-wood and a (captaining) one-wood...and they are pretty much the same thing

IMHO, Murph would sacrifice his game more than Cripps

Just as an aside - 0 tackles last night, never been accountable to his opponent and doesn't run both ways...is not a captain's bootlace...and BELIEVE ME...that has a destructive effect on the TEAM despite the number of clearnces he gets as an INDIVIDUAL

If you want to get an idea of how deep the problems run, go and watch the positive press conference from Voss.
More good moments that bad.

Must have been watching a different game.

It is so easy to see that teams give us contested possession, sit back and wait for us to do turn it over. We are actually playing exactly the way teams want us too, and that’s somehow taken as a positive.

I’ve been a Voss supporter but this man looks devoid of ideas and confidence and it’s rubbing off on the players (or vice Versa)

As critical as I am, I do understand Voss trying to be positive. The players are mentally shot, devoid of any confidence. First job is to find a way to clear their minds.
I do t think it is the best approach but I kind of get it.

I didn't go last night (cos kids), my husband went.

He said two really sad things.

1. The club doesn't deserve the supporters it has. 45kish, 75% Carlton fans showed up after a poor loss last week.

2. Walking back to the station feeling dejected with thousands of equally Carlton dejected fans is basically our normal post game experience.

Let down two weeks in a row by our “leaders” - Cripps, Weitering and McKay. Culture is rotten, has been for years and shows no signs of changing.

Pittonet did a great job on English

I won't be watching the replay to confirm, but I didn't get that impression at all

Marc Pittonet took the honours over Tim English last night when the two were opposed to one another in ruck contests.

Hitouts-to-advantage:

17 - Pittonet
5 - English

So over it.

Nearly 30 years without success and we still aren't close

I like our list but I don't know why we play so badly?

Are we soft, lack structure, is it coaching, is it game plan, is it culture?

Maybe Cook knows something given his comments last week? Maybe that's problem?

All I do know is I'm tired of it and have nearly had enough

Can anyone tell me what we/they changed after we hit the front for the second time?
Something significant must have changed structurally because they were struggling to score for the last quarter and a half and then suddenly, it completely opened up for them?

Rucks got on top and to the outside..Libba abd Smith did the rest... Standard fare against us... Get it to the outside...
We have to be ready for it, but weren't.
SOSs ruck work was pretty good tonight because he kept it in close despite being totally outclassed.... Pittonet was pretty good but would win and hit clear to no one which often meant an advantage for them....

The last 5 minutes was a perfect example of that...

Our set up for it is the questionable thing... After the first clearance, use strength to get your opponent closer in... FFS... Be ready for the ball on the outside AND the ruck must block the ball going to their clearance players.... Our rucks were done and did none of it

Go Blues

Pros:

Tried hard.
Walsh, Cottrell, Newman, Pittonet, Owies.

Cons:

Playing without confidence.
You can't win games kicking only 8 goals. Set shot kicking for goals and forward entries a huge problem.
Ball movement. Last year we were chaining the ball out of stoppages, just seem to be hacking it forward now. Also why has Weitering become our designated hacker out of defence?
Our forwards really struggle to slow down defensive rebound.
Beaten at clearances again. We're not going to win with that slow midfield, if we don't win clearances.
Out tackled and pressured. Very hard to match the opposition in these areas, when we can't match them for pace.
Acres, Motlop, Cripps, Cincotta, McGovern, Hewett, Durdin, JOS.

Ive heard the same from many Carlton supporters today

That's $2.7M worth of cap space.

Add Jack, to the abovementioned "sloppy" kicks. Yes, including Weitering, and there's $3.1M in Cap Space.

We had goals kicked against us from the stray Weitering klicks from Defense, and none of the other 3 showed any ability to kick straight to goal.

Its hard to get enthused.

Poor london blue is a guest next week of ... Collingwood President.
My advice is Prozac or Gummies, and enjoy the lunch, and whatever goals we can muster.
I've decided its not worth the trip to watch crap live.

Lance Whitnall says hi.

Cripps' miss from 20 out was the turning point last night.
Disgraceful attempt at goal from someone on $900K.

Who the hell was on Bailey Smith?

Cripps. Opposition clubs are exploiting him badly at the moment. They simply run off him and create an extra man in space. Which is the problem with our midfield in general. We're not winning enough contested ball, or exiting the stoppages very well when we do. And when the ball is in motion, we get cup in space.

Just an aside? Nah, make this front and centre. He's unaccountable.

What did Cripps bring to the team last night? Downhill skier. Never thought I'd say that, but, enough is enough.

Got shot down a couple weeks ago when I agreed with another poster that Motlop isnt an auto selection, because his form had been flakey the previous 2 weeks in a forwardline full of midgets.

Getting rid of one midget, Fisher, didnt go far enough. Two midgets is plenty.

Apart from that one super tackle last night, Motlop had 8 disposals an 50% Def.

FF Owies
CHF Durdin

Enough is enough with the midgets. They are not marking forwards.

Cripps, Harry and jack kicking for goal is C Grade. They are full time footballers. WTF.

You know that old Franco Cozzo ad that started ...... grand sale, grand sale ?
Hold that thought.

I'm 66, been lucky enough to see 8 flags, 7 of em in the flesh.
But they've just about broken me.
Near 20 years of kicks in the groinal and gonads area, taking its toll.

My question is, how brave are you Carlton?
Are you brave enough to change and not buy another ticket on the just change the coach merry-go-round?

Clearly there's lots of probs at cfc, but the players are ground zero.
Do you envisage Cripps running down the race to mcg turf on gf day ?
Do you see Mckay kicking a clutch match winner in a prelim ?
Do you see TDK torching big ruckman and gorilla defenders ?
Do you see Fisher blitzing Petracca or De Goey ?
Do you see Mclovin or Martin playing 20 games per year, at their age ?

Nope, me neither.
So....
Are ya brave enough to say, nope it hasn't worked (again) ?
How many top shelf draft picks would you get by having a grand sale of most of the above ?
Contracts schmontracts.

Since 1967, don't think I've seen a more mentally fragile player ever as bad as Mckay. Is anyone working with him.
Hes almost a liability at times.
If not, we'll hey Michael, it's your career he's helping to abbreviatie !

Yeah its 2 in the morning, I'm depressed. Watching the press conference, I thought it was Teague wearing a Voss face mask.

But it's OK....cfc will work on their deficiencies this week and come out and smoke dem Hot Pies !

Grande sale, comprade de Franco....

I'm 63. Same story.

Completely agree with all the above.

I thought I was watching the Teague Game Plan during the 2nd qtr, and it continued in the 3rd.

Grand sale Grand sale Grand sale

We lost the 1st half by 18 points
We lost the 2nd half by 2 points

Yeah right...winning changes. Thanks Vossy. Revolutionary.
