having nightmares about what Fyfe and Mundy are going to do to our midfield without Cripps in it.

amazing how much we rely on one player, it's almost like not replacing Bryce Gibbs was a pretty big mistake.

After the Bulldogs played keepings off with us last week, I'm having visions of a 150-200 differential in disposals.

A chance for players to step up

Agree.
The problem is the psychological issue of their two captains and perhaps the best player in the com missing.
We saw Richmond get up in Perth a few weeks ago and they were decimated.

Two good posts in a row.
I think Jones might play in the twos, Casboult will go forward and Goddard will come in to the backline.
It's out of Kennedy and Jack to replace Cripps. Jack has shown a fair bit this year and although he is not quick, he manages to get to the fall of the footy. Kennedy has the body but so far has not shown us he can accumulate possessions.
This is the week for SPS and Setterfield to show us what they can do and for Murphy to go back inside where he made his name. Those three rotating through the midfield with Ed on Fyfe is probably where the clearances will have to come from. Then it's out of Jack (more versatile than Kennedy) or Kennedy for the extra spot.

My guess is, in Goddard and Kennedy.

I didn't think we could win before and now I'm hoping for the boys to have a red hot go and play four quarters. A blowout is not allowed.

This is the problem.
If you have this mindset, how will the players feel?
He is one player. If three others rotate through his position, it will throw the Freo defensive midfield setup out of kilter. They have been training all week to counter Cripps and now they have no idea who will take up the cudgel and how they are going to rotate their defensive positioning. Ed will still be there to counter Fyfe.
It's a bummer of a position to be in BUT this is when players make their names.
What happens if SPS gets 35 again?
We recruited Setterfield to be a inside mid but so far he hasn't had much of it because Cripps is always in there.
Kennedy can do it but hasn't had a run at it because f injury.
Nobody has to be Cripps. If Kennedy comes in and gets 20 possessions and Setterfield, SPS and Murphy get a few extra each, there's your 30 possessions covered.
I haven't even mentioned Walsh.
It's Cripps's inspirational leadership that is difficult to replace. I'm guessing Simmo will be Captain. Now there's a man we can look up to.

Well if we only need to kick a point, even I think we may win this.

Good opportunity for SPS, Setters and Dow to shine.

Wow - this is the first time I can remember coming on to this site feeling down and leaving all excited and positive!
Now, I’m looking forward to who will get the opportunity to step up and who will grab it with both hands!
Thanks people - you’ve made my weekend!

NB: Just to be clear, this is a genuine post - not sarcastic.

Mundy and Fyffe are going to be giggling between themselves as they walk the ball out of centre bounces and ball ups around the ground.

SPS’s 36 possessions came off the back of about 20 handball receives from Cripps.

I hope the players aren't all like "Well, there's no way we'll even get close now" like TC is.

Nothing happens - it will be his third (maybe fourth) 30plus possession game in his 50 game career.

What were you expecting, views of the Sydney Opera House, herds of wildebeests thundering across the veldt, the Hanging Gardens of Babylon perhaps.

Agree, it won't be pretty, not surprising as Fyffe & Mundy are two of the very best midfielders in the competition.

If they've got any backbone, they'll launch a mutiny if the caretaker calls for a spare in the back half.
